Lewd King's Bucket List-Chapter 67: A Terrifying Man
The king sent the jester away after he disrupted the lecture too many times.
Zabaniyah maintained her quiet demeanor.
The Royal Assassin swung Lord of Truth’s cage as he slept soundly, all while Se’van went on with her lecture.
In relation to what she’d already presented, she detailed Aether’s intricate powers and characteristics.
Next, she decided to spontaneously teach Runa how to read Common.
Ixion was behaving as he leaned back in his chair, manifesting his Soul Scripture.
❖❖❖
Name: [Ixion Catatran]
Title: [Hollow Crowned King]
Aspect: [Soul Winder]
Class: [Seraph]
Core Rank: [Boundless] - (333/600)
Traits: [Noble] [Soul Shatter] [Defiance] [Karmic Soul] [Astral Projection]
❖❖❖
Familiar periphrastic descriptions provided Ixion with amusement as he reread them. First, his Aspect.
[Soul Winder] - [Within the murky depths of a soul, a faint radiance flickers, a fragile light against the gloom. Yet, just beyond, within that very glow, a seed of depravity lay coiled. As your hand brushes against these illusions, the wrongness of it all seems to twist and writhe, a palpable sensation, until it somehow settles, a strange and unsettling rightness.]
The description was unusual, but the ability itself might have been stranger than the words used to portray it.
Through this, Ixion gained the ability to engage with, detect, and interpret a soul’s essence, as well as to become more in tune with his own.
Unlike most Flesh Constructs, his innate connection gave him a hefty advantage on the path of ascension.
Still, his Aspect was rather peculiar in that it offered virtually no practical advantage in combat. It allowed him to sense souls and a soul’s intent, but that was about it.
It was a little weak for an Aspect of the Seraph Class; however, that was just on the surface.
After all, interacting with a soul was a terrifying ability once mastered. And especially so when Traits aligning with a soul-tailored Aspect got involved.
While it wasn’t Ixion’s most terrifying Trait, that being [Soul Shatter], [Karmic Soul] was the foundation that allowed Ixion to be as fearsome as he was.
[Karmic Soul] - [A soul, stained by both depravity and innocence, a judge of its own conflicting nature. This soul, a magistrate, weighs the karma. of its dual existence, destined to be consumed by both its darkness and its light.]
This was the ability that allowed him to see the color of someone’s soul. He could sense their guilt, depravity, honor, and innocence, among other things.
It was also this ability that boosted his ability to sense souls to an extreme level. Also, instead of trying to grip something intangible and invisible, it gave a soul a physical form to Ixion’s eyes.
Which made way for his most potent and terrifying ability. Which, despite its weird description, was perhaps an ability more terrifying than Despair’s [Terror Transmission].
[Soul Shatter] - [Break them. Shatter them. Crush them. Sever their souls. Free them. Give them eternal peace from this wicked world.]
This ability was true to its name.
Once he located a soul with [Karmic Soul], then grasped it with [Soul Winder], he could break it with [Soul Shatter].
A surefire kill.
One neither Despair nor Hope could claim absolute defense against.
The only way for one to have any chance at resistance was by way of a capable Aspect or Trait.
Ixion’s next Trait, perhaps in the wrong hands even more sinister, was [Noble].
[Noble] - [Your word is the word of a king. Because your statement is a king’s will, obedience follows.
He could imbue speech with [Noble], which would influence an entity to do his bidding. He could even control dead beings if it was moments after they died, before their souls escaped their vessels.
It was a terrifying ability, especially when considering the fact that if the power gap was wide enough, he could force someone to commit suicide.
A suicide where cry and beg as they may, their bodies would never listen to them. Fully lucid, they’d strike themselves down.
All to follow the king’s word.
’How noble...’
Ixion’s final two abilities were [Astral Projection] and [Defiance].
[Defiance] enhanced his resistance to soul and mind assaults, which is why Despair’s illusions failed to shatter his psyche.
And next was [Astral Projection] which allowed him to move his soul around without his body and even invade others’ vessels.
’How dubious and insidious a man I am!’
Ixion smiled as he brought his head back down to watch as Se’van dragged over a desk and sat beside Runa.
He smiled lightly at the scene.
’Runa’s been letting her personality creep out.’
It shouldn’t be too long before she stops treating Ixion like a king.
However, Ixion’s smile faded as he continued to observe the pair.
There was no escaping the pain he planned to cause. Still, it was the preferable of the unfortunate alternatives.
Ixion grumbled and stretched, then slid out from his chair.
’I’m going to go on a walk! Have fun learning, my star kitten!’
As Ixion hummed and whistled, he departed the room, with Zabaniyah following closely. The Lord of Truth, left behind, awoke and began to shriek upon hearing the door open and shut.
The assassin listened intently to Ixion’s message, then nodded and stepped into the shadows.
Ixion himself made a way to his room. Once there, the chamberlain let him in, and he sauntered over to his desk. He took a peek at No Regrets.
Specifically, the latter half of the list.
’Right...’
Ixion shook his head and shelved the scroll. Then, he returned to his bed and plopped down.
It was time for another soul adventure.
It was time for Veritas to make his glorious appearance once again.
After all, his speech just earlier must have caused quite a stir. He should check up on the Oathsworn, see their reaction.
Also, he should check who they intend to send to duel!
’Am I going to get to see my darling Reina in person?’
She was the most valiant of them, yet Ixion questioned if she possessed the confidence to get involved. Bold enough to proclaim an Artoris still lived.
Though her fears were misguided, seeing as Ixion had no intention to do her harm.
Or perhaps they weren’t.
Despair was back, after all.
