LEVEL 0 IMMORTAL-Chapter 111: You Take A Master
Elias could feel the weight of this moment, and he could feel excitement and a bit of uncertainty in his heart, but the Commander’s words gave him clarity.
"I took great pains to get you these Lumina Vein Arts because of one reason, and that is because you opened all one hundred Lumina Pools of Lumina. If a normal Siphon with ten pools were to acquire these Arts, it would be useless to them, because they do not have the foundation to hold power of this nature, and they would be crushed underneath the weight of history and power that these Lumina Arts hold. Now, Elias, are you willing to take me as your master?"
Elias did not hesitate and was beginning to go on one knee, when the Commander smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Know this, if you become my disciple, you shall inherit my Karma and my Will. I have great enemies, Elias, and the cause that I fight for has led Angels far more powerful than me to their death. Think on this before you make this decision."
Waiting for a heartbeat, Elias spoke, "All my life, from the moment I could remember, the thing that I wanted the most was to live a full and rich life. I had always feared in my heart that I would not live past the age of eighteen because I bear burdens that weigh on my soul. Commander, you have given me a mantle and position. You have given me the chance to fight for the life I want. Maybe in the future, I will seek my own path, but for now, I will take you as my master and follow wherever you lead me."
Commander Yseult looked at Elias’s eyes for a long moment, and he allowed him to kneel, and from the ground a blade of ice emerged, and she gripped the hilt, before she laid the flat of the blade on Elias’s left shoulder, then his right shoulder, and then on his head,
"Then we are bound as master and disciple," she said, "The full ritual would be completed, but not here; first, you need to choose the Lumina Art that would follow you through the rest of your life. This is my first boon to you as your master."
She stepped aside, and Elias’s eyes fell on the altar with the three objects. He walked up to it and slowly reached his hand across. He hesitated and touched the crimson orb first, and he felt a faint tingle travel from his hand all the way to his brain, and his Status Screen appeared in his head.
Yet his Status Screen was different; it seemed to have become corrupted, and it was bleeding. As shocking as that was, it could not equal the first line he saw,
Heaven-Grade Art: Crimson Vein Dominion
Grade: Heaven-Grade.
Origin: Forged by the Blood Sovereign during the Crimson Cataclysm.
Core Concept: Absolute mastery over blood as both weapon and conduit.
His mind could barely understand what he was reading when his soul seemed to be sucked out of his body, and he saw a city that was a thousand times bigger than Stormfall, so large that if Elias was told that it occupied half the world, he would have believed. This was not just a city; this was a powerful kingdom!
There were great armies standing in front and inside the city, and their numbers would have to be in the tens of millions. Some were floating in the skies, and others wore heavy armor and gigantic machines in the shapes of men stood on the sides of the armies.
Floating above the kingdom was a being whose form could not be discerned, but Elias heard his cold and calm voice and a fair hand that reached out towards the metropolis below, "Come to me," the voice said.
For a moment, there was nothing, and then horrifying screams that were promptly silenced as an ocean of blood erupted from the kingdom that came from every living being inside the kingdom, and rose into the cloud where the figure was floating. The blood was so vast in volume that it covered the entire sky for miles, and then frightening roars began to emerge from the ocean of blood as dragons and other mystical creatures born from this blood began to emerge from it, their roars sending shockwaves that rippled across the horizon.
Elias had seen many great sights since he became a Siphon, but the chilling sight of a single word and gesture killing hundreds of millions, if not more, made him jerk his hand away from the crimson orb and take several steps back.
"Oh, you saw the Blood Sovereign, then it means your affinity for this art is indeed great." The voice of the Commander entered Elias’s ears, and he turned towards her, his eyes wide,
"Who is that man?"
"A legend from the past, but one that is now missing, even his name has been forgotten, but according to rumors, he fought gods and daemons to a standstill on his lonesome, and it was said that he once fought a god for a thousand years even when he had only a single arm and was afflicted with the curse of the dying gods. Still, he is gone now. If that were not the case, I would not have been able to get the Seed for this Art. Crimson Vein Dominion stands as one of the most powerful Heaven Grade Arts in existence, and it should fit perfectly well with your fight style. You who bathe with blood like it is water."
When his shock subsided, Elias began to truly understand the importance of Lumina Vein Arts. Just absorbing Lumina was like collecting resources, and it was these Arts that allowed the user to utilise these resources.
Elias could still feel a tingle on his palm as if his body was still remembering what it felt like to touch this seed of power. A power that Elias knew that he wanted... needed!
If he were alone, he would be grinning like a madman as he could not imagine what it would be like to hold all of that power in his control. Plus, this was a Heaven Grade Art; there would never be anything higher than this.
The core of this Art said it controls blood and also acts as a conduit. What that could mean was something Elias felt he wanted to find out with everything in him.
And yet, there were two more options before him, and he should check them out, especially the last stone that had similar runes to the stone blade.
Shaking his head, Elias walked back to the altar, towards the second object that looked like a stone carved out of the void. Even before his hand touched this scroll, he could begin to feel something about his body react strongly, and Elias’s eyes widened because it almost felt like hunger.
His body was craving this scroll, as if a part of him that had always been missing was now revealed to him. It reminded him of the moment that the weird childish monster inside the Fragment was reaching deep inside Elias and found something missing... this scroll was giving him the opposite feeling, and he slowly touched it.
If Elias was flesh and blood inside this place, then he would have had an heartattack at what his Status Screen was showing him.
The sound of the Commander’s voice entered his head even though he was in a daze,
"I told you it is generally known that there are only four grades to Lumina Arts, and while that is the truth, there is something stronger than a Heaven Grade Art, and they are called Lumina Vein Scriptures. I only recently knew about their existence, and what you see before you would lead to a war that could devour the entire world."
