Chapter 41: Fighting the Strongest (II)

A devastating explosion rocked the entire battle stage as two devastating punches blasted through the air like an unleashed bomb.

Gustav’s boredom was instantly wiped off when he saw the blast heading straight for his chest, and he immediately crossed both hands.

When White’s fist connected...

CRAAACK!

VROOOOOM!

The clear echo of bone breaking rang out, and the air flapped intensely as Gustav was roughly blown off his feet.

He flew back for three meters straight, spinning twice mid-air before his feet landed on the battle stage, and he slid to a stop.

His eyes remained widened, looking down in shock at the ground, which was mere centimeters away from him.

He had forced on all fours!?

"Did I..."

He asked, turning to White, who stood there with a small smile at the corner of his lips.

"That’s a good punch, no?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

He asked him, twisting his right shoulder, and from shock, Gustav’s expression slowly changed into one of disbelief...and excitement.

"You’ve already awakened!"

He claimed, sending an uproar through the stage.

___

"Awakened! He’s replaced all his basic cells with awakening cells, already!?"

"How! It’s barely been three days!"

"No wonder he could push Gustav back."

___

"You’re not that far off, yourself."

White said calmly, walking towards Gustav, who slowly rose to his feet.

"Very well then... I’ll take this seriously."

A second of silence, and the world seemed to pause.

...the murmurs,

...the cheers

White put his foot down from his walk, and it didn’t make a single sound.

’What’s wron...’

He didn’t finish his thoughts when,

CRAACKLE!

The sound of thunder crackling echoed throughout the hall, and White snapped his gaze upwards.

There, tearing even through the building’s ceiling was a massive bolt of golden lightning!

The ground beneath White shook as he flashed backwards, barely avoiding the lightning bolt that slammed into the ground a second later, burying half the battle stage in violent gold flaring.

It completely covered Gustav, who didn’t move at all, welcoming the bolt with both arms wide open.

Five seconds passed with nothing but loud crackling in the air, but slowly the lightning receded.

What came to view made his jaw drop.

There was Gustav, except now, he seemed like a completely different person.

His golden hair was shining an even deeper golden, and his eyes radiated a golden light, like torches.

His lean physique had turned large, his coat having been ripped apart from the force of the strike, leaving him bare-chested.

What took White’s breath was that the boy wasn’t even standing on the stage.

He was floating a few inches, lingering in the air as golden lightning crackled repeatedly from his body.

"Wrath Emissary: Forgone Lightning Body!"

The words pierced through the silence as lightning burst forward towards White like a tsunami.

"Activate Limitless Interval."

White ordered without moving a step back, and the world twisted as approaching lightning all mysteriously parted away from him.

CRACKLE!

The deafening sound of lightning cracked once, and Gustav disappeared.

White blinked once, and when he opened his eyes, he found a massive fist of golden lightning a few inches from his face.

Limitless Interval massively slowed down the fist, allowing him to shift his head to the side, dodging the blow, before he also punched upwards towards Gustav’s jaw, delivering an uppercut.

BOOOM!

BOOOOM!

The air exploded twice from the intense power unleashed between both dodged fists, as Gustav jerked his head back, spinning high in the air before slamming his leg down towards White’s head.

Once more, Limitless Interval massively slowed down the kick as White flashed to the side, countering with a high kick towards’ Gutav’s ear.

Like a phantom, he dodged it, disappeared into a beam of golden light, and reappeared behind White, punching at his spine.

For the next few seconds, 99% of the students saw nothing at all.

Just a golden bolt of lightning flashing here and there, along with a flickering blue light mixed within.

They interlaced, each collision rocking the battle every time they came close, and it lasted for five minutes straight before coming to a stop.

The students could see them again, and it was obvious who had taken the most damage.

White stood there, still covered in blue runic tattoos, but his uniform was in bad shape.

The coat was gone, and the uniform shirt had burnt marks all over it, as it crackled with lightning, burnt smoke drifting into the air.

On the other end stood Gustav, simply standing there surrounded by his lightning.

All of a sudden, they began retreating.

The lightning in the air disappeared, but they weren’t gone, just fully absorbed into him, or to be exact, his hands.

The students watched as his right hand turned into an energy-like state, becoming a pure phantom of golden lightning, and calmly, he raised it to White.

"Even with my Forgone Lightning Body, you can still match my speed and power,"

"You have enough energy from your awakened core to keep that Limitless Body of yours."

He said, and White noticed as strands of lightning from his hands began to infuse the air.

It made space appear like glass, with the lightning strands appearing like cracks in a mirror..

"This is the second and only attack I have. If you survive it, you win."

Gustav said, and in the next moment, called out

"Wrath Emissary: Hands of Calamitous Lightning!"

The lightning strands that had diffused into the space made it crack into nothing, creating a giant golden vortex.

What came out of the vortex was a massive hand wreathed in golden lightning that was all the lightning contained in Gustav’s right arm.

It completely dwarfed White, who stared blankly in awe and disbelief.

It was huge.

Massively huge, but what was worse was the phantom he could see.

The world around him had faded, and in his line of sight was a simple crack in the darkness, the end of which stood a massive golden being covered in lightning, his massive palms now pressing down towards him.

An unbearable pressure slammed down onto him, accompanied by a weird feeling in his heart.

A feeling of futility as if nothing he could do would ever save him from the calamity approaching him.

The pressure alone would have been enough to overpower all of the students’ wills, rendering them unable to move an inch but White, unfortunately, had seen far more horrifying and awe-inspiring attacks than this.

To the sight of the phantom fist, he grinned instead, insane battle lust rippling out of him in waves.

Slowly, his hands reached out towards the palm, taking the shape of a gun.

"Limitless Collapse!"
