Chapter 20: A Mesmerising World

A world of starlight.

Closer to him were buildings, purple-walled castles that rose high into the violet void above.

They clustered together, each seemingly part of a single grand structure.

White turned to the ground, finding the floor to be a glass-like marble, veined with celestial light, reflecting the starlit purple sky above.

It was mesmerizing, and White quietly looked up.

The sky stretched wide, and it wasn’t blue.

It was a deep purple melting into violet and indigo as countless starlight blinked steadily across the expanse.

Shooting stars carved silver trails through the darkness, lingering for a moment before vanishing into nothing.

It was night, and it felt endless, vast, and mesmerizing.

Across the marble floor and blitzing around the castles were other human beings, visibly older than them and dressed in a purple outfit that matched the vibe of the area.

Many zipped around in techno hoverboards, but instead of the normal ones he was used to, whose ends bulged from the battery.

These simply had runes on them, glowing with the energy of the awakener standing on them.

It doesn’t seem fully technological.

On the ground, instead of road vehicles or cars, they were the most unlikely means of transport White ever thought possible: Awakening beasts!

He expected everything to be in chaos, but surprisingly, the awakened beasts weren’t fighting to the death or lusting for life.

Even the auras around them weren’t barbaric like awakened beasts in the jungle.

Students rode them, and some even rode flying awakened beasts, blitzing through the sky like beams of light.

For a few minutes, White felt quietly lost to the overwhelming beauty of this world, but he wasn’t the only one.

All around him, with jaws wide open, were the other students, as they all froze like sculptures.

This wasn’t Earth. It couldn’t be.

[Actually, it’s just a pocket space re-designed by a powerful mind manifestation ability.]

The system panel flashed, not as impressed as he was, but White’s shock never waned.

He felt a sudden pull from his pockets and brought out the green card.

There was a force enveloping it, with enough force to faintly drag White towards a particular area.

"So, this takes me to my dorm room, huh?"

He mused to himself, relaxing his drag on the card.

It naturally strengthened the pull, and White felt himself slowly being dragged somewhere.

He could feel that he was on the right path since the majority of the students were also moving in the same direction.

What they came before was an extra-large tower-like building, fully covered in purple runes. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

It stretched into the sky, above which was an incredulous number of purple clouds gathered together.

Occasionally, purple lightning crackled through the sky, sending purple motes raining down.

When one of the motes touched White’s skin, his eyes widened in shock.

’This...Pure Essence!’

He thought in disbelief, looking at the clouds.

There it was, dense energy fully gathered, which could only mean one thing.

The cloud was an essence energy generator and disperser, releasing essence energy through the building.

With that thought, another realization quickly came to him as to why the dorm building looked like a tower.

It had something to do with how the essence energy generator works, and that’s how they distribute energy.

The closer one was to essence energy, the higher the essence energy, and the farther one was away from it, the lower the essence energy.

Looking at the tower, it was obvious some students would be at the top, enjoying maximum essence energy outdraft, which will further increase their cultivation speed, while those who are down will receive less, and a slower cultivation speed.

’I wonder what floor I’m on. What even is the requirement to rank up higher, or is my position final?’

He mused to himself, allowing the card to lead him up.

The base floor of the tower was lined with rows of teleporters.

For some reason, White felt silently dragged to a certain teleporter and repelled away from the rest.

’Hmm, maybe the teleporter corresponds to a specific floor of the tower.’

He mused, allowing the tower to drag him to the teleporter, and in the next moment, he was gone.

When he reappeared, his eyes gleamed, looking forward and finding that there were a total of three doors on the corridor he was in.

They were all of the same purple as the building, and he walked to the balcony, a smile blooming on his face right after.

The place he was in was high.

Very high.

He looked up, noticing it wasn’t the highest, about three floors still above him, but this was already higher than most.

"You got assigned to the same tower level as me?"

The voice echoed behind him, and White turned away from the balcony, looking to the side where a figure stood, his card dipping towards the card reader on one of the purple doors.

It was a young man in the same green clothes as his, but he had exceptionally dark hair.

It wasn’t dark, it was incredibly dark, so dark it was like it threw away light from him, making the boy appear darker than he was, though his face was pale white.

His eyes were the same color, shining that same mesmerizing but equally chilling black.

He was about 1.8 meters tall, just about the height of White himself.

"Stay away...or I’ll devour your soul."

He said, and the first thing that White felt was actually laughing.

Not because the boy’s threat wasn’t dreadful, but because his voice was tiny and low.

It was like the voice of a shy girl without the feminine note...not a good voice to threaten someone with.

He didn’t wait for White’s answer before he stepped into his door, shutting it with an unusually loud bang.

"Weirdo."

White mused to himself before he also took to his corridor, which was on the far left.

He gave one look at the door in the middle, wondering who that belonged to, but shrugged and stepped inside his dorm room.
