Legendary Awakening: Strongest Class In the Apocalypse-Chapter 58: Streak Gone!
The atmosphere in the hall turned suffocating. The killing intent burning in Xavier’s eyes looked ready to burst out, yet maybe the goblins were too engrossed in their disgusting act, because they still hadn’t noticed the presence of the two human intruders at all.
The poor women, having seemingly lost all hope, simply stared into empty air even after seeing Xavier. For them, the appearance of Xavier and Aria was nothing more than another illusion their broken minds had created.
It wasn’t the first time their minds had tried to give them false hope. But they knew better. This was another world—how could anyone come here to save them?
Just then, Xavier’s gaze sharply moved upward, noticing a disturbance above.
For a moment, the air over the painted ceiling twisted and turned like a curtain of water, slowly parting as a figure materialized when the disturbance ceased.
Lich King Rokos.
With how intensely the seal on his arm reacted, Xavier instantly realized who the new arrival was.
"Indeed, the first generation of awakeners are really a different breed, to think someone would actually dare to use it to cross over..."
Lich King Rokos was dressed in an elegant, pristine black coat, the piece of clothing fitting close to his small, twisted figure.
Although Rokos was merely standing there, Xavier felt as if something were stuck in his throat, making it difficult to breathe. His lugs refusing to expand, Beads of cold sweat appeared on his forehead, slowly rolling down toward the ground.
So strong... Xavier exclaimed in his heart, feeling shaken.
Mind you..this was what he felt when the DeathWill bonus was still in effect. Xavier had a feeling that if it wasn’t for that bonus, his knees might already be hitting the ground.
His thoughts had barely reached this point when Aria’s mouth opened. An arrow made of pure blood shot out of her lips, her entire figure shaking like a twig in a storm. Although she could somehow deal with a First Sequence goblin knight, against a Second Sequence monster she had few options.
Aria’s condition looked miserable, but the look in her eyes didn’t change, not even for a moment. Her mouth was tightly clenched, not letting out a sound, her pale blue eyes sharp as blades as she stared at Lich King Rokos’s figure. If looks could kill, Rokos would have been sliced into millions of pieces already.
However, this seemingly amazing performance was not enough to impress Rokos. From start to finish, Rokos didn’t spare her a single glance, as if she was nothing more than air. For him, the entire room was empty, except for Xavier’s existence.
Rokos smiled when he heard no response from Xavier to his "warm" greeting.
Chuckling, he looked toward the human women lying on the ground with an indifferent expression.
"My apologies. You see, I wasn’t expecting you to arrive right here. If you had warned me beforehand, I would have cleaned up the place..."
Rokos spoke in a plain tone, but anyone could tell he was just saying those words for the sake of saying them and didn’t mean them at all.
Not caring about Xavier’s reaction, Rokos continued, his tone slightly distant, a attempt to justify the wrongdoing?
"My goblin race is not as wise as the elves, nor as talented as the dragons, neither as skillful as the dwarves. The only racial quality we have is breeding. We can produce children fast. But a goblin takes at least one month to nurture the newborn. Even if they are pregnant all the time, there is a limit to how much we can produce... However, one day, we had an idea. If goblin women are not enough, we can always turn to other races’ women..."
As he continued to speak, the smile on Rokos’s face widened to the point it was no longer a smile but a twisted grin.
Xavier’s fists were tightly clenched, nails digging deep into his palms. He wanted to remain rational and calm, but there was just no way he could continue to suppress the anger that threatened to erupt.
"Enough!"
Unable to endure any longer, Xavier jumped forward, his fist tightly clenched. The living goblin metal inside his body cascaded and twisted, propelling Xavier toward the lich king.
Rokos looked as if he hadn’t managed to react in time, allowing Xavier’s fist to land directly on his face. However, just as the fist was about to hit his little head, the space in front of him ripped, and a special shield made entirely out of undead energy appeared, absorbing most of the impact.
Bang!
A sound similar to a bomb exploding resounded in the room. The shockwave generated by the impact caused faint cracks to appear on the ceiling, spreading like spiders’ webs.
This might have looked like a casual punch, but in this attack, Xavier had poured every single ounce of his strength, completely draining himself dry. After all, as the DeathWill Executioner, each and every single one of his moves was meant to kill. One wrong move and the execution would fail.
An Executioner only moved to execute, not to "spar."
So when the Lich King Rokos managed to block his attack, Xavier’s expression fell. He could already see the execution streak dissolving into a cloud of smoke, resetting to zero.
[Execution Streak – 0]
The look in Rokos’s eyes didn’t change.
"Hmm, you are quite strong for someone at the First Sequence, huh..." he commented out loud.
First Sequence...?
The expression on Xavier’s face changed. It appeared the lich had completely misjudged his status.
While he was thinking, he suddenly shook his head.
What am I even thinking...
With the execution streak broken, the DeathWill aura surrounding him had started to fade. Xavier could feel his mind lagging behind real time; everything was taking too long to happen. Even his thoughts seemed to slow down. The increased stats not only enhanced his physical abilities but also his cognitive ability—the speed at which his mind processed information and his body reacted to changes.
Now, with that boost fading, the gap between him and Rokos became painfully clear.
Lich King Rokos started to mutter more "casual" nonsense:
"The class strengthens the soul, and the evolution path strengthens the body. As a warrior moves through the higher sequences, the change in strength is exponential. As such, you might be strong for a First Sequence, but compared to me, a proud Second Sequence expert, it is not much."
