Chapter 119: The Only Way (Fixed)

Eric swayed for a moment, then fell down to the ground with a thud.

As the older man shouted and rushed over to him, the others looked over and saw there was a puddle of blood beneath Eric.

When he flipped him onto his back, they saw there was a knife wound on Eric’s abdomen, right below the ribs.

"When did this happen?" One of them asked in confusion.

"Is that important?" The older man growled, then said, "Help me dress his wound, so he doesn’t bleed out. As the rest of you go help sir Jamie."

"Yeah." The group snapped into action. One stayed to help the older man while the remaining three turned around to rush back to Jamie only to stop in their tracks because they saw Jamie had already taken down the duo.

"It seems we aren’t need—"

Swoosh!

One one of them had just opened his mouth when another man came rushing out of the street ahead, his face pale with terror.

"Just one? Sir Jamie can easily handle—"

Swoosh! Swoosh!

The man had just sighed in relief because they wouldn’t need to get involved since there was only one person. But before he could finish his sentence, two more men shot out, then another and another.

"..."

Under his stupefied gaze, within a few moments, seven men had rushed out of the street and were now rushing towards them.

’Shit! I should’ve kept my mouth shut.’ He cursed himself, his heart falling. But despite the fear, he gripped his hockey stick tightly and began running towards Jamie, "Let’s go. We need to help."

His name was Dan, 29 years old, a completely ordinary guy and he knew it.

Still, despite his instincts screaming at him to turn around and run away, save his life or he more likely than not would be lying on the ground, covered in his blood just like Eric, he was running to help Jamie.

Why?

Because he knew even if the world wasn’t going to change like Max had told them—there wasn’t going to be any radiation related or martial artist problem in near future—he still had to put in work to earn merits or rather Max’s favour if he wanted to live with some dignity and not worry about food and water.

And there was only one way to do this—prove that he was useful.

The others’ hearts were quivering in fear. They knew they would most likely die if they tried to stop these people.

However... Just like Dan, they also were aware of what they needed to do.

Besides...

’A swift death is better than living a miserable life.’ They thought, firmed up their determination and followed Dan.

But just then...

Swoosh!

They saw another figure rush out of the street and their eyes lit up because this figure was none other than their leader, Max.

"Stop them!" Dan shouted, filled with renewed energy.

Previously, the chances of them dying were quite high, but now, the things were different. As long as they delayed these escapees for just a bit, Max would catch up and kill them.

When the escapees saw Jamie and others standing on their way, their expressions fell. Then, a ruthless glint flashed in their eyes.

However...

Bang!

When the first escapee arrived before Jamie and was about to attack him, Jamie slammed into him, knocking him to the ground.

He then continued to tackle the rest. A few managed to land blows on him, but it was as if Jamie didn’t even feel them.

Two of them managed to run past him, but Dan and the other three intercepted them.

Swoosh!

Without holding back, Dan swung the hockey stick, aiming at one of the escapee’s head. However, the escapee dodge, and stepped closer to him and stabbed his knife at Dan’s abdomen.

Shua!

Dan was already retreating when he failed to land the strike, so he managed to evade the knife albeit barely.

The escapee didn’t continue attacking because escaping was more important, so he stepped to the side, about to rush past Dan when Dan smashed the hockey stick towards his head again.

"Die, you bastard!" The man roared in rage after dodging the strike and swung the knife towards Dan’s neck.

Dan stiffened, and could only watch in terror as the knife inched closer. Everything had slowed down.

Just when the knife was about to slash his neck..,

Fwip!

A large hand grabbed the blade.

Dan immediately forced himself to jump into action and retreated, his heart thudding in his chest.

Bang!

He then saw as Jamie punched the man in the gut, knocking the air out of them and causing him to fall to his knees while clutching his abdomen.

"Kill him." Jamie said without looking at him and rushed toward the other escapee who the others were trying to stop and were on the verge of getting killed.

Gulp!

Dan gulped nervously hearing the order.

In his life, he hadn’t even killed an ant deliberately, but now he was going to have to kill a human... it made his stomach churn.

Despite that, however, he clenched the hockey stick and before the man could stand up and move away from him, he smashed his head with it.

"No—"

Shua!

Bang!

When he felt the sensation of the stick smashing onto his head was transmitted to him via the stick, his heart clenched, but he gritted his jaws and smashed his head again... then again and again.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The man groaned with each hit, but Dan wasn’t able to hear them, or rather, he couldn’t bear to hear them, so he was unconsciously ignoring them.

After he had smashed the stick several times, he saw that while the man’s skull was burst open, blood flooding the area around him, he was still alive.

So, he dropped the hockey stick and picked up the knife the man had dropped earlier, gripped it tightly in his trembling hands and plunged it into his chest.

Puchi!

Blood was sprayed on his face which sent him into a daze—he released the knife and fell back onto his butt, looking at the bloodied and dying man in disbelief.

"I... killed him?"

"Snap out of it!"

Right as he was about to overcome with guilt and self loathing, a cold voice rang beside him.

He looked up and saw Jamie staring down at him expressionlessly.

"Don’t be a pussy." He coldly said and walked away.

Dan followed him with his eyes and saw Max plunging a large knife through a man’s neck, then he coldly threw him away.

Then he noticed the other five were already dead, lying in the pools of their blood.

Immediately, he felt his throat constrict and began retching.

...

Ha!

Max exhaled deeply and let his taut body relax.

He then looked at Jamie, who walked over to him, and asked, "How are they?"

Jamie’s expression became a little downcast. Then, he turned around and pointed at Eric, "Boy’s name Eric. He took a knife to his gut. If he isn’t treated soon, his life might be in danger."

He then pointed at the other two, who were tearing their shirts to dress their wounds a few meters away from Dan, "They only suffered minor cuts, so they are good."

Max nodded, then glanced at Dan and raised his brows slightly.

Jamie noticed it and chuckled, "First kill."

Max nodded in understanding before glancing at two men—escapees—passed out a few meters away. There was no blood around then and their chests were still rising and falling, meaning they weren’t dead yet.

Before he could ask, Jamie said, "Earlier, I didn’t have time to kill them, now I want to let the boys kill them, so they get used to it. Of course, I can delay it if you want to interrogate them, Master."

"No. I have nothing to ask them." Max shook his head before walking towards Eric.

Seeing the puddle of blood beneath him and his pale face, he bought another healing potion and gave it to the older man, who had just stood up and bowed to him.

"Here, make him drink this. He’ll heal better and faster."

[Harem Points: 15→5]

"Yes, Sir." The older man nodded, took the vial, removed the lid and slowly poured it into Eric’s mouth.

Once he was done, Jamie said, "Old man, go kill one of them"

Ignoring the old man’s reaction, he glanced at unconscious Eric, before looking at one of the injured men, and ordered, "You kill the other."

The man’s expression froze, but then he nodded, "Y-Yes, sir."

"S-Sir Jamie..." Watching him stand up and walk towards the unconscious men, the old man gulped his saliva nervously and asked, "Do I have to?"

Jamie frowned in displeasure, "You don’t want to?"

The old man wanted to shake his head, but he suddenly realized that Jamie wasn’t forcing him, rather, he was giving him an opportunity which if he declined, he might regret it.

Therefore, he took a deep breath and slowly stood up, "I’ll do it."

"Mm. Go ahead." Jamie nodded before glancing at the other man standing beside them, "You go and bring the truck here."

"Yes, sir." The man nodded and left.

Jamie then glanced at Max and was about to ask something, but he noticed he was deep in thought and stayed silent.

"We’ll have to change the plans..." Max muttered after a while.
