"Is that...?" Elias didn’t watch the scene until the end, and turned to Astralious. He had seen enough things like this to understand what was happening to the people who were praying to him.

"Why are you surprised? Isn’t that what you people do best?" Astralious asked in return, raising his head. His eyes shifted to the portals, where the people who treated him like a deity and prayed to him were being slaughtered.

"It seems to be the memory of the day that started it all." The memories of that day were still fresh in Astralious’s mind. After all, if not for this day, then everything would have been so different for him.

"If I hadn’t gotten involved that day, then I would still be alive. But I couldn’t hold back. As a Constellation, if I couldn’t even save the last few people who worshipped me, then what was the point of being a god?"

The scenes changed, and Elias found himself far away from that space. He found himself standing in the middle of the world that he had seen in the portal.

When he came to his senses, he found himself holding a young girl by her throat. The girl seemed to be in her late teens, but there was a problem. The problem was that she was not breathing anymore.

An even bigger problem was the attire of the girl. She was wearing the dress of the Dimensional Academy, and particularly of the Destroyer Class.

The dress was somewhat different from what they currently used, but there were too many similarities. It was like the old version of the Dimensional Academy attire.

"I had been ignoring them for quite some time, as they kept spreading like a virus to all worlds that were related to me. But I couldn’t hold myself back for an eternity, and this was the day that I descended to this world."

Astralious’s voice fell in Elias’s ears, as he was also nearby, still trapped by the chains. The only difference was that he wasn’t resisting the chains now.

Instead, his eyes were looking at the bloody scenery, a sight created by the corpses of his followers who were praying to him even until their last breath.

Even though he had descended, he couldn’t save many of them. He was late. Almost half of the people of this world were dead in this apocalypse by the time he had descended.

Elias had seen the apocalypse that destroyed his own world. But the current apocalypse felt even more brutal.

The people of this world weren’t left to die with the passage of time as the apocalypse worsened. Instead, they were actively hunted by the Beast Summoner that was in his hands.

"So you killed the Beast Summoner?" Elias asked, as he released the corpse of the Beast Summoner that fell on the ground.

"That’s right. I killed her, as fast as I could," Astralious said, as his eyes darted to the distance, where he saw a young child hiding, looking through the small gap in the rubble.

"I went straight for her, as it was the fastest way to end this. After she was dead, the beasts that were summoned by her, also disappeared. So I thought that it was finally over for now," he added, as he tried reaching out his hand towards the child who was hiding in the rubble.

The scene changed once again.

Elias found himself back on the throne, as if he was back at the beginning. But he knew that it wasn’t the beginning, especially since he wasn’t alone there. Astralious was still chained next to him, but there was something else there now.

In the distance, he could see a battleship bearing the familiar insignia of an Ouroboros devouring its own tail. When the gate opened, a person stepped out of the battleship, not appearing to be in any hurry.

It was a man who looked to be in his early twenties. A long coat was draped over the man’s shoulders like a robe.

He had his left hand inside his pocket as he walked on the empty space, his eyes as cold as ice even though he was approaching a Constellation.

Elias’s brows rose when he saw that person as it was someone he recognized. It was none other than his father, who looked quite younger there. It was Silas Ashborn, before he became the Patriarch of the Ashborn Family.

"He is the one that killed you?" Elias asked, almost hiding his face in his palms. With each passing day, he could feel that his family tree was getting more and more complicated.

It was as if he was surrounded by troublemakers only, and these troubles came for him in the end. Almost all the troubles that he had faced so far, were the making of his family in one way or another.

"You know him?" Astralious asked, slightly taken aback that Elias recognized that person so fast.

"When you took over my body, didn’t you see any of my memories?" Elias asked, bringing his face out of hiding. He thought that Astralious knew about his identity, which made him target him in the first place.

"I would’ve received your memories after the corruption was completed. But you destroyed it before that could even happen. Why do you think I would’ve known anything about you?" Astralious scoffed, feeling extremely frustrated.

It was as if the person that had kicked him to the ground was asking him about the reason he was on the ground. He might have thought that Elias was mocking him, if he hadn’t known better.

"Then why did you corrupt me?" Elias asked.

"You think I found you?" Astralious asked, looking at Elias in disbelief. "You were the one who found me. Each leaf in the forest represents a lost fable that couldn’t be captured alive."

"All those fables are waiting to return to life. So it’s your bad luck that you found me when no one else could."
