Legendary Architect of Apocalypse-Chapter 60: Grey’s Manipulation
"So it was a trap..." Painter’s expressions darkened, as realization started setting in.
"It was a deal. We both got what we wanted," Elias replied, knowing that the promise was the only thing holding that man back from killing him.
As for how long that promise was going to be effective, he couldn’t be absolutely certain. That’s why he didn’t completely rely on that promise. Getting that promise was simply the first step of his plan.
"Also, he didn’t tell me anything. He just made everyone believe that he told me something, so he could have some entertainment."
If he told the truth to the Painter when he was getting killed, there was no way the painter was going to believe him. But now that his life was more or less secured, he didn’t have much of a reason to lie. It was at this point that his words held more value than before.
As long as he could make the painter believe him even a little, it was going to be a success and the chances of that promise being broken were going to go down drastically.

"He is telling the truth. I was just messing with him," Grey suddenly chimed in, sending Elias’s thoughts in disarray.
Elias looked at the Professor with a puzzled look on his face. Was he giving up already? Whatever the case, it was helpful for him.
"I didn’t tell him anything," he repeated. "I just wanted to see how he would deal with it."
"As for you," He shifted his focus back to Elias, his voice growing more earnest. "You might think that I was trying to get you killed, but if you had failed, I would have still saved you. You wouldn’t die here, at least."
Elias’s lips twitched. What did he mean he wouldn’t have died here? What was the difference if he was imprisoned in a painting? For Grey, it might be entertaining, but for him, it was a matter of life and death.
Grey didn’t stop there, as he further stated, "If I wanted to kill you, I wouldn’t make it so obvious."
He had made everyone believe that he told Elias that secret. If Elias was killed because of this secret, then his death was definitely going to be linked to him. He wasn’t foolish enough to make it so obvious.
The Painter grew silent. His emotions were all over the place. Was he fooled, or was he trapped? In just these last few minutes, he had been tricked twice already. All of it happened in front of so many children, which made him feel even more frustrated.
"All of you, leave this forest now. I want to have some words with your Professor." He picked up the broken pieces of the brush. The two pieces of the brush merged together, as the brush returned to its original form.
"Do as you’re told." Grey also said the same thing, understanding Painter’s intentions. "Come back, only after getting your Soul Beasts."
It was clear that the two Professors weren’t going to talk. There was going to be something much worse, Elias didn’t want to be here when that happened. He was the first to start going north.
"Hey kid, take this." He had just started leaving when he felt an unknown force control his hand. His hand reached out on its own, and caught a small green crystal that was tossed at him.
"This is called a Growth Stone. It was the reward for taking the first rank in the assessment. When you are ready, and at a safe place where there will be no disturbance, eat it. It will help you go through your first class evolution."
Elias looked at the Growth Stone that was given to him at a moment like this. He had a really bad feeling about this, as he saw the greedy gazes of others. It was different if others didn’t know about the use of this stone, but Grey had already told everyone about the use.
A growth stone was something that could help with the first evolution, and there was no one here who didn’t want it. Even the descendants of the major families seemed to have greed in their eyes, which made Elias understand that this thing was rarer than he thought.
He could see that Grey was again messing with him, but he didn’t have time to think about it. Without hesitation, he started running away to create some distance from them.
He had to get away from the others before they tried to steal it. Unfortunately for him, others had also realized that the stone was useful for them.
They were going to the Land of Fables, where they were going to be under no observation. If anyone was killed there, it could only be blamed on the Soul Beasts.
Fortunately, the others were still cautious before him, knowing that he had killed a Professor. Although none of them saw how he did it, they were still careful. They didn’t attack him, and simply followed him.
"Oh right, Elias! I forgot to tell you that all outside weapons are useless in the Land of Fables! So the treasured gun that you used to snipe at the Professor from your sneaky hidden position, will not work in the Land of Fables. So be careful and safe!"
Elias heard the loud shout of Grey, which almost made him stumble. He wanted to turn around and curse out loud. Grey made his words appear as if he was warning him out of his worries for his safety, but it was clear that he was telling others to be less cautious of him.
"He used a hidden weapon to kill the Professor like a coward?!" Rey exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. He was the most worried about his safety, but if Elias had simply relied on a weapon that was useless here, then he didn’t have anything to worry about.
"A growth stone will be a waste on an Auxiliary Class! Why don’t you hand it over?!" he exclaimed, as he used the winds to increase his speed.
