Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 84: Aftermath
Chapter 84 - Aftermath
My eyes opened to a white ceiling, my back pressed against a soft surface. Where am I?
[In the dorm.] Dante replied.
I sat up in the bed, eyes sweeping the room. The faint light of the moon passed through the thin veils of the window, casting a soft glow over the room.
Who brought me here?
[We don't know.]
What do you mean you don't?
Croft explained.
Fuck.
Rubbing my face with both of my hands, I shrank. This whole thing... Until the Mask of Deceit, everything was fine—I had solved every puzzle and obtained it. Then came that cursed pedestal along with that creature.
Now, someone had rescued me—Sure, I am thankful, but that person now knows my identity. He or she even knows that I am a student in Heldenstein.
I stood up from the soft bed, planting my feet against the cold floor. My attire was the same, it was not removed. I looked at my finger—the storage ring was still there. So, no valuables were stolen from me.
"Good," I mumbled. "But still, someone saw me—My real face. An issue that needs fixing."
If that person was allowed to drop me off in my dorm, then he or she is someone who is either a student here or a teacher. That narrows it down quite a lot rather than me searching the whole city.
[Hey, I know you are thinking something, but can you at least tell us what happened back in the room?] Dante brought up the question.
Croft agreed.
I was about to share the things with you two anyway. But first, did you really not hear or feel someone else's magic?
[I did not hear anyone, but I sensed their magic.] Dante replied.
So, can you trace that person?
[Trace I cannot.]
Useless.
[No, but I can tell you when he or she is near you, but I won't be able to point it out exactly. My mana sensing game is not that strong after all.] He explained.
But you sensed literal legacy powers!
[Divine energy and Mana are different.] Dante stated.
Fine, but at least let me know when they are near.
Tch.
This shit got a lot more trickier. One piece out of my control, and the whole plan goes down the drain. I should probably delay my plans of visiting the Shadow Veils and attend a few classes normally.
I don't want to gain anyone's suspicions.
[Hey, will you tell us about your dreams?] Dante repeated his question.
Yeah.
After that, I explained everything to Dante and Croft—From me waking up in my old world, avoiding my intended fate and then experiencing that weird breakdown. Also, that misty darkness.
Dante, do you know anything about the Heir of Ashes?
I asked him. This title or name—whatever the creature had called me, remained stuck with me. I didn't know what that meant, but it did not sound so good.
[I don't know much about the title you are asking for, but I know what a Heir is...] He replied, his tone laced with contemplation.
I know about Heirs as well. Michael and Raiden—Both of them are Heirs of their respective powers. They are someone with the Potential of a Sovereign. Michael is the Heir of the Storm Sovereign, and Raiden is the Heir of Dawn and the successor of Aurelian.
But what I wanted to know was why he called me the Heir of Ashes? Does that mean I am someone with the potential of a Sovereign? Well, I knew that already.
I have vast knowledge from the game, which allows me to compete with Raiden's potential. I have many items to acquire for gaining strength, which I will need to defeat whatever is coming.
I cannot avoid it now.
Because if the world dies, I will die too.
And to survive, I will need power.
THUMP!
"Fuck!"
Suddenly, something pushed against my heart. Pain surged in my chest, it felt as if a blade had pierced through it.
[Noah, are you alright?!]
I am not.
I clutched at my fabric tightly, sweat beads forming between my brows. The pain now not only remained at my chest, but it spread all over my body. Making me fall down on the cold floor.
Squelch!
The sound of flesh moving echoed in the room. It felt like a worm had made its home in my chest. Dragging myself forward, I held onto the desk nearby and stood up. Legs shaking as I tried to maintain my balance.
I pushed away my olive coat and tore open the buttons of my shirt, exposing my body to the cold. "The fuck is happening?!" Taking heavy steps towards the mirror near the wardrobe, I slammed my hands against the side.
My silver eyes widened with shock and awe as I stared at the left side of my chest. The skin in that area was twisted, blood dried black, forming an ominous black mark that looked like a spiral of nerves. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
It was forming at the same place where the creature had pierced with his talons.
"What the hell is this?" I blurted out, touching it with my fingers, only to wince with pain.
Legacy Ashen Wings Upgraded: Dormant —> Intermediate!>
"What?" I frowned, looking at the blue screen before me. The pain had faded as if it had never been there to begin with.
My second legacy it had reached a new stage quite instantly even though it never even moved a step forward when I trained for the last seven months.
Croft, what did I unlock?
Ashen Wings(Intermediate)-
Shadow Magic Amplification: Level 1 —> Level 2
New Spell Acquired: [Gorge of Night]!
"The hell? A new spell?" My eyes never left the screen as if waiting for an explanation that would never come. "That is fine and all, but how did the legacy resonance increase so suddenly. And Croft, can you describe the spell?"
She replied cheerfully.
Tears open a rift in the fabric of reality, summoning a massive shadow maw that devours all within range. Enemies are pulled toward the centre and afflicted with debuffs. Humans and animals killed within the Maw are erased along with their bodies and souls, unable to be revived by normal means.>
Holy shit!
This is overpowered. A spell exclusive to the Ashen Wings legacy, huh? But if it is this strong, there must be a catch.
[Noah...] Dante called out.
Yeah?
[Did you forget about Michael?]
I arched an eyebrow at his question. No, I remember him. He is still my elder brother.
[Not that, you idiot!] He took a deep breath before talking again. [You were supposed to contact him!]
Well, fuck.
