Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 26: Echoes Of Power
Chapter 26 - Echoes Of Power
My eyes fluttered open, revealing a simple wooden ceiling with faint cracks. My back was pressed against a soft mattress. I was in a bed—Not my own of course. My torso was naked with bandages covering my chest area.
The same area that the Ironhide Bear clawed into.
"Ugh," I tried to sit up but the ache in my body did not allow me to. My whole body felt empty and tired. Although I could sense my mana returning bit by bit, it was still not enough. It still felt like a part of me was missing.
[Good morning, Noah] Dante greeted me, his deep voice resounded in my head which felt soothing.
'Good—Wait, how long did I sleep?' I asked him.
[A whole day] Dante replied bluntly.
Shit, I was asleep for a whole day?
'Where am I now?' I asked again, the room felt unfamiliar. It was not the room Aunt Josephine gave me to reside in. It was different. The room was almost empty keeping aside the bed on which I was currently lying down and the side table where a few medicines and bandages were kept.
Someone was nursing me.
[You are at the same Tavern in one of the Guest rooms]
'I see, did you see who was nursing me?' I asked.
[That girl, what was her name again?] Dante muttered.
'Alexia?' I reminded him—or more like I asked him. I also forgot about her, 'Whatever and where is Micheal?'
[Dunno, why?]
'I have some bloody words for that bastard' I frowned. Because of him I could've died—No, eaten alive by that fucking beast.
[You won't do shit to him] Dante scoffed, [You are too weak to even handle a Greater Beast]
Even if Dante's words were laced with mockery, they cut deep. I had thought my progress was significant, that I was clawing my way up. But in the face of real danger? I was still helpless—just a pawn in someone else's story.
I clenched my fists—Not because of anger—No. But because I was too powerless.
''I need to change that'' I grumbled as I gritted my teeth.
-Creak.
The sound of the door opening snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned my head towards the door—It was a girl. Her brown hair was tied into a ponytail while a few bangs framed her oval face. The one-piece black dress that she was wearing was covered by a dusty apron.
Her hazel eyes looked toward me with surprise before her lips curved upwards in a smile.
"Good morning," Alexia greeted, lifting the hem of her dress.
"You don't have to be so formal," I replied, "And yeah, good morning,"
"I just wanted to do this once in a while," She said giggling a little before reaching over to my side. "Do you want to sit upright?"
I simply nodded.
She supported me, one hand on my back, the other gripping my shoulder. Her hands were rough—mostly due to working in the tavern or it might be due to training.

"Thank you, Alexia," I replied holding her arms for support.
"Alexia?" She blinked tilting her head, "What do you mean by 'Alexia'?"
"Isn't that your name?"
"No," Her brows furrowed and I could see her expression darken. But I think it was my imagination.
"It is Alicia. Didn't Sir Micheal introduce me to Sir Noah?"
"He did, I guess and please drop the 'sir'. It is awkward," I asked of her very politely.
"Fine, Noah is it then?" She sighed.
"Yes,"
After that, we exchanged a few words. About her specialized element, which was fire. I also found out from Michael that she was joining the academy at the same time as me. I just hope she wouldn't recognize me and complicate things. Or... wait. Maybe I could use her to push Elisabeth away.
[Nope, don't even think about it] Dante said curtly.
'Yeah, you are right'
[A commoner can never win against a Noble in Politics] Dante spat, [So either she would be targeted by Blitzfeld and Edelstein because of your stupid Idea.]
'Should I care about what happens to her?'
[You should, she tended to you while you were injured which is a debt in itself]
Well, I guess that plan is out of the window. You know what? I will deal with Elisabeth in the academy. My sheer focus should be now on upping my game—I meant my skills, not that game.
After a while, Elisabeth started tearing away my bandages revealing my saggy chest which was embarrassing for me. I currently had larger tits than few of the heroines. I really need to tighten my skin and build some good muscle.
And when she left the room.

"I unlocked my Aura, huh?" I smiled, a real achievement even though I almost died.
But one thing still lingered—That Aura why was it so chaotic? And what Dante explained did not make sense. My will is Madness of Defiance? What the hell is that supposed to be?
Also, the Aura which is supposed to be refined and controllable seemed very unstable and also its colour. Silver, I can understand but what were the black streaks in between? It felt like two different energies colliding with each other.
I massaged my temples trying to make sense of my Aura because if I didn't understand the power—How could I even wield it?
-Knock. Knock.
"Come in," I said, hearing a knock on my door.
"Ah, Noah I heard that you woke up," Micheal poked his head through the slightly opened door.
"Yes, not thanks to you," I replied crafting a forceful smile.
"I know, I know I messed up but at least you awakened your Aura. Right?" He said shrugging his shoulders.
"Right," I replied glaring at him.
He awkwardly entered the room and closed the door behind him slowly and sat beside me on the bed.
"You know, that Aura of yours? It is quite special," He said cracking a smile, "It is something I had never seen in my 23 years of life,"
"It was chaotic and unstable unlike the aura of other knights but," He paused then held my shoulder as if to reassure me, "With proper training, you can control that chaos and unleash it upon your enemies."
[He is right, Noah. If you can harness and control this energy it can tip the scales in your side] Dante also jumped in.
"So now," Micheal stood up from the bed and looked at me with his same knowing smile, "I will put you through the Military Knight Training,"
I swallowed hard.
Military Knight training—Training given to the squires and knights that serve in the Germainia Empire Military. It is the highest form of physical training which was derived from the Ironvale Kingdom. And you know those guys are training freaks.
This training was mostly known for its hard exercises and routine. The simple task from that training routine can make any average person pass out cold.
And here I was a below average whose only saving grace was his knowledge of the future.
But I knew that I needed this. It was good that Micheal suggested it himself—or else I was gonna force him to make me follow this training.
"I will be in your care then, Dear Brother," I replied.
"Yeah, sure. You got it," Micheal gave a thumbs up.
