Chapter 360: SS-rank Treasure Chest

After two days, Maisy and Violette had worked with remarkable efficiency — it seemed that nearly every surviving lord had become Noan’s slave.

However, calling them "slaves" wasn’t entirely accurate. Their servitude to Noan was only temporary — seven days.

If Noan couldn’t complete the event within that time, they would regain their freedom and could never be enslaved by him again.

Noan sat on the bed, Maisy and Violette lying on either side of him. Just a glance at the room was enough to tell how wild their night had been.

The bed, the floor, the table, even the windowsill — every spot bore traces of their "battle."

Both women were so exhausted they couldn’t even open their eyes, merely clinging to him as they drifted into deep sleep.

Noan, however, was different. With his Immortal talent, his stamina far surpassed that of ordinary people. Even a Rank B Succubus like Vylyss couldn’t outlast him — how could these two possibly stand a chance?

Now, frowning, he looked at the System panel floating before him.

"Just one left... perhaps I should go meet him," Noan muttered, furrowing his brows before rising from the bed.

He didn’t wake Maisy or Violette. After such an intense night, they deserved some rest.

Putting on his clothes, Noan activated his teleportation talent and moved to a location within the Chaotic Zone.

...

Snow was still falling, though the icy wind had finally quieted. The temperature was unbelievably low, the snow nearly a meter thick.

And yet, amid the vast field of white, a strange figure trudged forward with difficulty.

His limbs looked as if they had been taken from four different creatures. His face resembled that of an Orc King, though it still retained some human features.

Yes — it was Garek.

Noan hovered high above, watching him with faint interest.

"This guy must’ve stumbled upon some kind of Fortuitous Encounter... something that allows him to graft monster parts onto his body without rejection," Noan murmured.

Though people in the city would no doubt see him as a monster, out here in the cruel, chaotic wilderness, he could easily survive.

Still...

Noan frowned, thinking for a moment before sighing. "Fine! He’s got decent potential. I’ll observe him for a bit longer."

With that, he shot down toward Garek.

By now, Garek could withstand the brutal cold, but he still needed food.

BAM!

At that moment, the snow in front of him exploded, and a shadowy figure appeared, startling him.

"You..." Garek frowned, his hands clenched so tightly that the cracking of his joints echoed through the icy air. But he knew — the young man standing before him was no ordinary being.

If this man wanted him dead, he wouldn’t even have the chance to resist.

Noan didn’t waste words and went straight to the point: "Become my slave, and I’ll help you perfect the Fortuitous Encounter you’ve obtained."

"What?!" Garek wasn’t a fool. In his current condition, anyone could tell he had gained some kind of Fortuitous Encounter — but it was clearly incomplete.

He gritted his teeth. "Sorry, but I don’t like being someone else’s slave. You may be strong, but you have no right to decide my fate."

"Ah!" Noan sneered. "Stubborn, aren’t you? Unfortunately for you, I don’t tolerate disobedience. You have two choices — become my slave, or die."

Hearing that, Garek’s heart sank with unease and fear. "What do you want from me? I’ve already done as you asked — I haven’t caused trouble for your subordinates, I’ve just been hiding here trying to survive this damn cold!"

"The new event," Noan said calmly. "Become my subordinate, and I can help you. Otherwise..."

He didn’t finish the sentence, but the air around Garek suddenly froze as Noan raised his hand slightly.

Garek’s eyes widened in terror as his body became completely immobilized.

He could feel an invisible force pressing down on him from every direction, threatening to crush him.

"I’ll have no choice but to kill you," Noan said, his voice calm yet cold enough to chill the soul.

"Wait!" Garek shouted hastily. "I—I can serve you, but... but—"

"Don’t worry." Noan had already read his thoughts and smiled faintly. "I won’t mistreat you. But you’ll have to prove your worth to me, or else..."

He waved his hand—

WHOONG!

A deep, resonant hum filled the air, followed by a blinding beam of light that shot into the distance.

BAM!

An earth-shattering explosion erupted miles away. A mountain peak — more than five miles from where they stood — was obliterated, snow and debris blasting high into the sky.

Garek’s entire body trembled as he witnessed the scene, a bone-deep chill spreading through him.

He couldn’t understand it. Both he and Noan were Lords — yet Noan, supposedly just a lower-ranked one, possessed such terrifying power?

Not only was Noan himself overwhelmingly strong, but even his soldiers and Heroes were far beyond anything ordinary Rank D Lords could muster.

He didn’t know why, but one thing was clear — if he refused, he wouldn’t survive this day.

Slowly, Garek knelt, pressing his forehead against the icy ground.

"Master!" he said respectfully.

Noan nodded in satisfaction and had Garek sign the slave pact with him.

[Ding! Congratulations — you are the first to complete the event. Reward received: SS-rank Treasure Chest.]

[Ding! As the first to complete the event, would you like to announce this to the entire world?]

"No." Noan replied flatly.

He had no interest in fame or being the center of attention.

Right now, all he wanted was to grow stronger, save Vylyss, and fulfill his duty as a Fate Hunter.

"Good." Noan turned to Garek, tossing four B-rank Energy Crystals and a small pouch into the snow with a smile. "Three days from now, I want you at the Central Resource Production Zone."

Without another word, he disappeared — not even caring whether Garek could make it there or not.

Garek stared blankly at the Energy Crystals and the small pouch, visibly stunned.

He picked up one of the crystals and immediately shoved it into his mouth.

At once, a warm current spread through his body, filling him with a sense of power and comfort so intense that he couldn’t help but roar out loud.

"Incredible..." Garek muttered. "B-rank Energy Crystals — and he just throws them away like cheap trinkets. Looks like... following him might not be such a bad deal after all."

Then he opened the small pouch. Inside were tiny pills, each no bigger than a bean. A single glance was enough for him to recognize them — All-Purpose Elixirs. There were enough here to last him at least half a month.

Letting out a long sigh, Garek carefully stored the Energy Crystals and the pouch, then began moving forward with renewed purpose. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

...

Back in his private room, Noan locked the door, allowing no one near. He then began operating the System.

"Open chest."

Noan stared at the items that appeared before him, his face frozen in disbelief.

Four SS-rank items — their stats and bonuses were so overwhelmingly powerful it almost felt unreal, as though he truly had become a king.

No — perhaps he really was the king of this entire region now.

"It seems... my prediction was right," Noan murmured. "I might not be able to personally join future battles, but that’s fine. With what I have now, victory will come easily. It’s just..."

He thought for a moment. It made sense that, as the first to complete the event, he’d receive all SS-rank gear.

But what about those who finished after him? Would theirs be SS... or lower?

Noan frowned and asked the System: "If someone completes the event after me, what kind of reward will they receive?"

[Ding! During the event period, the second person to complete it will receive an S-rank Treasure Chest, followed by A-rank, then D-rank.]

[However, if the event period ends before completion, each unclaimed chest will drop one rank. Therefore, the next person to complete the mission after you will only receive an A-rank Treasure Chest.]

Noan’s eyes gleamed coldly with a hint of cruelty.
