Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 404: More heartlessness exposed.
The members of the Mo family were gathered again. Not to discuss a way out, because the clever ones had sold whatever they could and paid fines to avoid jail time. But, they had come together because of a tragedy.
Grandpa Mo, the patriarch of their family had taken one look at the peep star’s post and got a stroke. Despite being taken to a hospital, he had not survived. Death had claimed him with greedy claws like it had always been waiting for him.
That is why the Mo’s were gathered in a funeral hall, dressed in black mourning clothes and staring at blank walls.
Around them people whispered about the uncanny fate of the family.
"How many members of their family have died this year alone?"
"They must be haunted."
"I must visit a temple and cleanse after this funeral is over or their bad luck might follow me home."
The Mo’s heard what was said and didn’t bother to respond. Their luck was unnaturally bad this year. Death was truly haunting them.
At exactly midday, inside the cold prison, Mo Liang and Mo Wenbin received a guest. It was Mo Wenbin’s wife and she was wearing anger on her face, twisting her nose as if the prison smelled of filth. Her eyes were filled with contempt each time she looked at any of the prisoners.
Even her shoulders were pulled in every time a prisoner passed by her. It was like she was afraid to be contaminated by them. Like they had a disease she was afraid would get on her skin.
Mo Liang and Mo Wenbin were sitting apart, keeping a distance from each other. Their enmity was wide spread in the prison and everyone knew they disliked each other. Whenever they met, a fight erupted.
The only reason why they were not fighting now was because of the presence of the prison guards.
"How are the kids?" Wenbin asked his wife.
She removed her finger from her nose and opened her mouth.
"Hurry up and say what brought you here." Mo Liang bellowed at her. "I do not have time to sit here and listen to your family affairs. Why did you ask for me? Have you come to reveal where you and your husband hid my money? If you continue hiding it for him, I will report you as an accomplice?"
She scoffed the table. "Do you think that you are the only one who lost money? I would also like to know where he hid it. My life savings were part of it. Do you know how I am living with my children? At least yours are lucky enough to be living good lives. Mingzhu is a Jun, living the high life. We have all heard that she was named a princess and betrothed to a prince.
Even your bastard Mo Hao was adopted by his uncle who is a doctor working in a big hospital, earning a lot of money. Me and my children....." she slapped the table continuously, "we are living in the countryside. I am now working as an insurance saleswoman and my babies are studying in a public school. Do you know how hard it has been for us to adjust?"
Mo Liang rolled his eyes. At least she was outside. He was in prison. Which one of them was having a harder time?
"Why haven’t you gone back to your family?" Mo Wenbin asked his wife. "Your father owns a furniture making company. Even if you are not in the elite wealthy class, his money is enough to support you and the children in a comfortable life. He can even give you a job in his company."
She sneered. "My father does not want anything to do with me because I am associated with your family. My mother secretly got me this job selling insurance. You should be grateful that she did or else I would be farming like most of the people in the family are doing now."
"I...." Mo Wenbin started.
"Why are you here?" Mo Lian bellowed at her.
A prison guard barked at them. "Keep it down, you are not the only ones in here."
The three of them leaned away from each other and improved their attitudes.
"Grandfather is dead." She informed them. "He found out that Feng Jingzhe owns Blue Galactic and had a stroke. Doctors failed to save his life."
Mo Liang clenched his fists.
Mo Wenbin sagged as if he was lifeless.
"What do you mean by Jingzhe owns Blue Galactic?" Mo Liang shouted at her.
A guard looked their way and bellowed. "Last warning. If I hear your voices raised again, this visit will end and you two will face punishment."
Mo Wenbin glared at his cousin and hissed. "Can’t you keep it down?" His eyes that were reddening with grief burned with anger, a lot of it. "What does it help us if you scream now? You are the one that bullied your half brother the most and made him hate our family. If it wasn’t for you, none of us would be in this situation. We would be living the life of the one percent of the empire."
His wife blinked. "Did you two not hear me, your grandfather is dead. His funeral is being held today."
Mo Liang shoved his cousin on the arm. "Why are you talking as if you did not participate in the bullying? How dare you accuse me of doing it all on my own? Did I take your hands and make you slap him? Did I control your mouth and make you call him names? Wasn’t it you that locked him in a dark basement when he was five years old and forgot him down there for two whole days?"
"Would any of us participated if you did not call him a bastard and tell us to beat him up? Are you not the one that framed him for the death of your father?" Mo Wenbin scoffed. "If there is anyone he hates the most in his life it is you. No wonder he took your wife and daughter. It must have been revenge against you. How does it feel to know that she is now sleeping with the richer, better, younger, better looking genius brother?"
Mo Liang could not contain his rage. He jumped on his cousin, swearing to kill him.
Wenbin was laughing like a lunatic and still provoking Mo Liang with his words. "I bet his dick is bigger too. That is why she looked so much happier after divorcing you. She finally has a real man."
Guards rushed in and separated the men, dragging them out of the visiting room.
Mo Wenbin’s wife wiped tears away from her eyes. She found the men unbelievable. Not one word about their grandfather. They didn’t even ask if the old man had been in pain during his final moments. How the funeral had been planned or how the rest of the family was coping.
This was the heartlessness Mei Mei used to talk about in the past, whenever she was harmed by the Mo’s. She was finally seeing it, but it was too late.
