Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 378: Explain..
The moment he stepped out of the royal tower, a bag was thrown over Prime Minister Chi Rui’s head and he was forced into the car.
Given how kind his captors were, he did not resist because he knew exactly who was behind the kidnapping.
As he was driven to an undisclosed location during a car ride that was silent, he tapped his thumbs together, counting every turn and corner.
Soon, the car came to a stop and he was forced out of it. Two people walked him into a building and climbed into an elevator.
Chi Rui was familiar with the building where he had been brought.
The catchy elevator music was not new to his ears as was the faint smell of cinnamon in the air which was added to the cleaning products. Only one company used these products: Phoenix group.
He had a smile on his face when the sack was finally taken off his head in the office of none other than his sister Chi Lian. She was not alone. With her was Jun Muyang and Jun Mingzhe. Her husband and oldest son, respectively.
She was dressed in all black, with gloves on her hands, sitting in her chair like a mafia boss while they flanked her sides, standing upright with toy weapons in their hands. The looks on their faces were not friendly. They almost seemed ready to throw him into a pit of crocodiles and watch him being devoured.
"Little sis..." he started nervously. "You look gorgeous tonight. Why don’t I take you out on a date tonight? A brother-sister bonding date.
We can eat some chicken feet and drink cheap beer. Then I can remind you of all the nice things I have done for you and all the great times we have had together."
Muyang arched his brows and gestured to the slipper on the table.
Chi Rui stopped smiling and started wondering what Rose’s slipper was doing in the office.
He did not wonder for long because the door to the office was opened and shut again. Rose slid inside, heels clicking against the floor sharply. Every click sounded very close to a bullet being fired from a gun.
"Hello traitor." She greeted as she passed by him. "But if you did not know about the plan to include our gaming cabins, then hello uncle."
Her face went from threatening to smiling in an instant.
Chi Rui sighed. "Guys come on!! I am all for family but it had to be done. There have been too many cases of children refusing to leave imaginary worlds because they like it over there a little too much and gaming cabins are the number one cause of this."
"Doesn’t explain why we did not get a heads up." Chi Lian told him.
Again, he sighed before responding. "Hidden files, the SMS TV show which uncovers corruption is planning to do a story on three children that dies in the last two years. They all used gaming cabins for too many hours and lost themselves to fantasies. They died because they could not separate reality from fiction."
Rose had sat down but she jumped up to defend the company. "Uncle, we investigated those deaths and the company is not to blame. Gaming cabins for all children under eighteen come with time locks that automatically kick them out when they exceed the recommended timing by thirty seconds."
"It is adults that are violating these rules
They sell gaming accounts to children and by pass the time locks." Chi Lian cut in. "That is not the fault of the company."
"And I understand that, but other people may not." He explained to them. "Sis, I would never make a decision to harm the company. I just don’t want some people taking advantage of this cleansing to point fingers at Phoenix group and say we played favorites.
This is the biggest tech company in the empire. It needed to lose something small that seems major in order to show fairness. That is why I chose the gaming cabins but decided that only children of a certain age range will be affected.
I did not touch the legitimate pro-gaming age of sixteen and above." He blinked as he looked from one person to the other waiting for slipper judgement.
His intentions were truly sincere. He was also a shareholder in Phoenix group. He would never willingly cut off his own income unless he had to.
They understood where he was coming from and they had discussed this amongst themselves before he came along. What they had not liked was being caught off guard. A warning would have been nice.
His phone rung. He took one look at it and winced. "Zimo is calling me. I guess he is not too happy about the gaming cabins as well." Chi Rui sighed dramatically. "If anyone makes things difficult for me, I am telling my wife and our mom."
Rose scoffed.
Muyang huffed.
Mingzhe did not react.
Chi Lian laughed. "Chi Rui, you are in your fifties but still feel the need to run to mommy to solve your problems!!"
"Because I want no part of your slipper." He blurted out, gazing purposely at Rose. "She almost took my head off when valentine’s day was about to be canceled in the empire. It was not even my suggestion, I was just the unlucky person that was put in charge of introducing the idea to the public. If she almost decapitated me for that, I can only imagine what she will do to me for touching Phoenix group where she happens to be CEO."
Rose waved her hand. "Uncle....or traitor...depending on what my mom suggests, we have already come up with something that works better than gaming cabins so we are not going to lose as much income as people online are speculating."
Chi Rui fell forward, sighing in relief.
Rose moved around as if she was making a pitch or introducing a new idea to the board of directors of Phoenix group. "Gaming pods have been around for more than thirty years and in the last decade, there have been no advancements with them. In fact, we have seen regression.
They have become clunky. They take up a lot of space which many people have complained about. They are also very expensive which makes their replacement a challenge. One person can buy a single pod and use it for ten decades. We intended to stop there production and introduce something better." She twirled with her hand raised and faced the ceiling. "Da-Chuang, the hammock."
Chi Rui blinked. He did not know what that was but it sounded like something that should have been included on the AI axe list.
He cleared his throat and cut Rose off. "While I support you wholeheartedly Rose, I would like to remind everyone that we are on the mission to reduce the usage of smart AI gadgets and programs. Da-Chuang will have to wait at least one or two years to be launched. For now, find some piece of old technology that will encourage kids to go back outside and breathe life into it. Maybe a shiny ball that giggles as kids toss it back and forth."
He braced himself for the gasps and ducked because he heard the familiar sound of a flying slipper.
