Madam Feng was angrier than she had been in a very long time. She had warned her sister and niece to give up on the useless thoughts that they were having.

She lacked patience as she knocked on the door of the motel where they were staying. As soon as the door was opening, she shoved it in with as much force as she could muster.

She stormed inside like a giant treading on the sea, looking to rip apart the waves themselves.

Pang Lucy happened to come out of the bathroom at that very moment. Madam Feng reached into her bag and pulled out a customized slipper which had been a gift from Rose.

Madam Feng pushed her sister back with her foot and continued the spanking, merciless and brutal. Lucy felt every sting because she was in a thin towel and her body was wet.

Her screams penetrated through the walls of the motel and escaped through the window, drawing the attention of the people that were at the swimming pool.

Lucy sobbed loudly and her heart ached. Nobody had ever dared to hit her in her life. Her aunt was really cruel! All she wanted to do was marry Feng Jingzhe, why was her aunt in her way? How was Jun Meilin better than her?

Lucy and her mother were still in shock after she left and it took them at least a minute to string their thoughts together.

There was another knock on the door and it startled them. Lucy was scared that Madam Feng had returned to give her another beating so she run into the bathroom and locked the door.

Her mother opened the door, ready to confront her sister. It was not Madam Feng, but the manager of the motel who had come to inquire on the activities of the guests because some of the neighbors had alerted security to screams coming from inside.

Madam Feng lied that they were watching a movie and sent the manager and security away. She told Lucy it was safe to come out and her daughter left the bathroom, wary, eyes red, tears stuck to her eyelashes.

Lucy winced as she walked to the bed and picked up the cash that Madam Feng had left behind. She counted it and frowned. "Thirty thousand yuan!!" She turned to her mother with an outraged look in her eyes. "Mom, how could aunt give us just thirty thousand yuan? Does she think that we are beggars that can be dismissed easily with some petty cash?"

She seemed to forget that altogether, they had only ten thousand yuan left. They were unemployed and had no other income avenues. In fact, they had been discussing selling off their jewelry in the morning.

Lucy threw herself on the bed and started crying again. "I hate them, mommy. I hate them all."

Mother and daughter wailed louder and louder. The sound frustrated their neighbors and disturbed those who were relaxing by the pool.

Management returned to the room again, with security this time.
