Jingzhe blinked.
"I took him home and named him Shifu. I hid him inside my bedside lamp. At night he would glitter in the bedroom and make me feel protected. I knew it was bad, but I kept him because I was afraid of the dark."
Jingzhe blinked again. In all likelihood, the Empress Mother knew exactly who had taken her statue and where it was. Four year old Jun Meilin was probably not the criminal mastermind she had imagined herself to be.
It was very possible that there had been cameras watching that little dragon statue and they caught her in the act.
Maybe her parents had payed the Empress Mother for the little dragon or they had returned the original and made her a replica.
Mei Mei curled into a ball on the bed and started humming the theme song to Whiskers ten.
Jingzhe took off her shoes, wiped off her make up and covered her with a blanket. "Goodnight, my smooth criminal." He kissed her on the forehead. "You are a very chatty drunk."
She cracked one eye open. "I have one last secret. I like you very much A Zhe. If you dare find another woman, I will do to both of you what I did to Shuang Shuang."
Jingzhe grinned. As far as romantic confessions went, this was the best one he had ever received. He wanted to reply but when he looked down at her, she had drifted off and she was still mumbling in her sleep.
She was muttering something about cheese crown and rats.
On a virtual screen that Jingzhe could not see, a small virtual fox fell backwards, sighing tiredly. It had started working as soon as Mei Mei said she had secrets she wanted to share.
It controlled her brain to focus on harmless childhood secrets, things she felt guilty about. If it had not done so, maybe she would have talked about it. Or the men she did actually kill in the woods.
Perhaps she would have revealed secrets of the royal family or her own family.
He needed to send her on a mission and give her a serum that would help body break down faster before she got herself into trouble.

Bright and early on Monday morning, before the sun even rose, Pang Lucy showed up outside the gates of Huaqi’s cake factory. She had managed to find out that Jingzhe went to the factory every Monday morning and she was there to find him.
The security guards would not allow her in because she was not a employee and Madam Feng had been strict when she commanded them not to let her inside. So, she stayed outside, leaning against the factory fence and she smoked.
By the time Jingzhe’s car arrived, she was hungry, hot and sweaty. Her breath reeked of cigarette smoke and her make up was showing signs of cracking.
With determination, she flung herself in front of the car, spreading her arms out widely. "Brother A Zhe, I will not move until you come out of the car to talk to me."
The employees that were just arriving for work frowned. Most were drawn in by curiosity. Director Feng did not get to women, not even during work when he was teaching them something.
He was now a royal advisor, so many of them looked at him through eyes with additional admiration. But, he was Jun Meilin’s man. The women could only look and admire but not touch.
A door opened and Jingzhe stepped out. Another door opened and assistant Xu also stepped out of the car. He hurried to stand in front of his boss just in case Pang Lucy tried to throw herself in his arms.
Which she did!!!
But, assistant Xu caught her, preventing her from creating the public scandal she was aiming for. Lucy wanted to use public opinion to stir the waves and make it seem like Jingzhe was not so faithful to Meilin.
She had been reading up on the Jun’s, noting down things the family loved and hated. They did not allow their children get involved with partners that had questionable morals and ambiguous reputations.
So, she was determined to paint Jingzhe that way. The Jun’s would disapprove, Mei Mei would dump him and then she would have him.
Happy ending for everyone.
But the plan was already falling apart because she was not in Jingzhe’s arms. Her mother who was hiding in a rented car a short distance away had not managed to take a picture of them.
She pushed herself out of assistant Xu’s arms, glaring at him as if he had offended her by catching her.
"Who are you? How dare you stop me from me from meeting my brother?" She questioned him.
She tried to walk around him but assistant Xu blocked her again.
"Miss, not everyone can get close to the boss as they wish. Besides, I have a list of the boss’s family members and I can identify them at any time of the day. I do not recognize you."
Lucy moved to the left and so did assistant Xu. Then she moved to the right and he followed.
"Miss, I can do this all day. I advise you to give up and just speak to me." He told her.
Some employees were giggling. It looked like a game being played between children.
The giggles reached her ears and Lucy seethed, anger getting the best of her. She started to jump like she was wanted to leap over assistant Xu’s head.
He pushed her head back down with one hand like she was a basketball that was misbehaving. "Miss, no matter what you try, I am going to stop you. You should just tell me what you want."
Jingzhe got back in the car and it sped off into the factory. Lucy was stopped from following by assistant Xu.
She stomped her foot as she watched the headlights of the car disappearing behind the gates.
"I am not giving up." She glared at Assistant Xu, screaming at him. "I am Feng Jingzhe’s cousin. My mother and his mother and are sisters. Sooner or later, my brother will acknowledge me and when he does, I will have you thrown out. Just you wait."
Assistant Xu returned to her an unbothered gaze.
It made Lucy even more crazy. "You are just a secretary, who do you think you are? Any cat and dog can do your job."
Assistant Xu got his phone out and called the police.
Lucy turned and ran off. She could not afford to be arrested when they could not pay for a lawyer. Anyway, she would try again in another place. Sooner or later, Jingzhe would have to speak to her.
