Chapter 332: Meow Meow gives birth.

Mei Mei had called Jingzhe three times and not heard his response. So, she shook him. "A Zhe, don’t freeze. I want to know what you think."

There were some frantic knocks on the door and Jun Yi’s voice followed. "Older sister, brother-in-law, hurry up. Meow Meow is about to give birth. Everyone is waiting for you."

"We are coming." Jingzhe answered.

Mei Mei frowned meanwhile because she had no idea why everyone was waiting for them. Shouldn’t they have been waiting for the vet or on their way to one? Had Jun Liping arrived?

Jingzhe carried her out of bed because she seemed to have spaced out. He took her to the bathroom, they brushed their teeth quickly, changed into simple clothes and rushed downstairs.

Mama Su pointed them next door so they hurried out the door, going through the newly installed small gate in the backyard which connected both houses.

They found everyone gathered outside of a guest bedroom which had been prepared a fortnight ago to serve as Meow Meow’s birthing chamber.

Jingzhe and Madam Feng had never gathered for such an emergency before. They had stood outside waiting rooms for each other but never for a pet which was in labor! It amazed them both how serious everyone else looked. They had not even had such worried facial expressions when the Empress died.

Jun Yi was livestreaming everything that was going on outside and inside as she went back and forth, allowing Meow Meow’s fans to be included in the special moment.

The fans were laughing because some hilarious things were going on. Like great grandma Jun who was pacing like a energetic bunny, clutching a cashmere baby blanket embroidered with tiny bats.

Fans were already searching for the blanket or others similar to it, wondering where it had come from. One found it and shared the price. It cost one hundred sixty five thousand yuan!!

Then there was Jun Muyang who was educating everyone on the process through which bats gave birth and debating bat epidurals!!

Chi Zimo had brought three bottles of wine to celebrate once the babies were out. He was trying to convince Chi Lian to let him name one of the babies Wiggle-butt.

Chi Lian kept turning him down because Wiggle-butt was neither a name nor a word.

Grandpa Jun was on his phone, searching the internet for how many hours bat labor lasts. He was mumbling, "Two hours!! She has three babies so does this mean six hours? And why do the feet come out first?"

Su Manchu was sitting in a chair, knitting the last winter hat for the bat babies because she was worried that they would be too cold.

Meanwhile, the children were playing with the toys which the elders had bought for the bat babies.

Madam Feng decided to order for a bouquet of flowers and some other things that are given as gifts to newborn mothers. The trouble was that Meow Meow was a bat. How did one congratulate a bat that had just given birth?

Muyang approached the door and knocked. "What they hell is taking too long?" he bellowed.

More guests arrived...royal guests. Princess Rize, the Empress mother and the two young princesses. One royal agent was holding a very large balloon with a picture of a pregnant Meow Meow.

Another was holding a card with bold words in glitter which read "Push, Meow Meow, Push!"

"Are we late?" Rize asked.

The door to the birthing room was pushed open and Jun Yi’s head popped out. "Liping has told me to tell you that Meow Meow is dilated to the size of three pebbles."

The family gasped. Grandma Jun clenched her hands around the baby blanket.

"What does that mean?" Muyang asked.

"It means she is progressing." Jun Yi shared.

There was a loud squeak and Jun Yi disappeared into the birthing room again.

Once again, the waiting and pacing resumed.

Jun Yi returned forty three minutes later with another update. "She’s hanging upside down and refusing to push...I don’t know if she is supposed to push. She is also refusing to inhale the calming mist. Any suggestions?"

"Oh no." Grandma Jun wailed. "Is she hemorrhaging?"

"No." Jun Yi answered.

Madam Feng leaned forward and said, "Try a fruit cheesecake scented mist." She handed Jun Yi a mist she had made for the bat. Meow Meow loved hanging over it in the kitchen.

Chi Lian saw how nervous her mother-in-law was and she decided to distract everyone. "So, baby bat names, any suggestions?"

Chi Zimo raised his hand.

"Not Wiggle-butt." Chi Lian shouted.

"Dim Sum." Jun Jie suggested.

"Butt-zilla." Chi Zimo said.

Everyone shook their heads. Meanwhile, more relatives arrived from the Chi side of the family and Prince Feng and his family!

Jingzhe sneered. "Who invited them?" he whispered to Mei Mei.

She shrugged. "I don’t know who did but I know that this is ridiculous. I love Meow Meow but we don’t need all these people here. Someone is going to spin this in a negative light online...I just have that feeling."

"You mean the peep star." Jingzhe whispered.

She pinched Jingzhe’s waist and they both looked up as Prince Long Feng and his family approached them. Both families laughed awkwardly as they exchanged greetings.

"You didn’t have to come." Mei Mei told them

"Nonsense." Prince Long Feng replied. "Meow Meow is your family and that makes her our family too. We brought her a fruit bouquet and some mittens for the baby bats."

The door to the birthing room was opened and this time, Doctor Jun Liping made an appearance in person. She removed her face mask and smiled. "She’s done it," Liping grinned. "Triplets."

Everyone erupted in cheers, someone popped the large balloon and confetti spread everywhere.

Liping calmed them down. "Mother and babies and all in good health. She had two boys and one girl. They are cute, fuzzy and already flapping. Do we have names?"

Chi Lian stepped forward and some people groaned.

"Echo, Squeak and Mouse." She shared.

Some people sighed in relief. They were not the best names but they were also not the worst. Best of all, they were not ridiculous.

Liping returned to the birthing room with the small hats and baby blanket.

Ten minutes later, the humans were allowed into the recovery suite, a softly lit room which had flowers, vines and warm rocks. Slow ambient jungle sounds were playing from a speaker in the corner above.

Meow Meow lay in a hammock, her triplets nestled beside her, each wearing a tiny hat.

Chi Lian choked on sobs.

Grandma Jun wailed.

Grandma Chi hugged her husband.

Mei Mei rolled her eyes.

Cameras were retrieved and pictures were taken. Meow Meow was glowing.

An hour later, everyone’s phones pinged. The Peep Star shared her first snippet from the tell all book and she shared a picture of Meow Meow and her babies.

Of course, she ridiculed the Jun’s and royals.
