The fridge door opened and Mingzhu, Jingzhe and Mei Mei entered. They were all wearing thermal socks and Mingzhu was more excited to explore the fridge than she was to see her mother.

"Mommy, there is a supermarket in our house." She shouted.

Mei Mei laughed. "Now you know where to go when you need ice cream."

Mingzhu’s eyes widened at the row of ice cream. "There is so much. One for everyday."

"That is not how it works." Mei Mei said quickly. She realized then that she would need to activate the electronic locks on the fridge to keep her daughter out. As for the rest of her family, there was no lock in the world that would keep them out.

One of them had probably already taken pictures of the inside of the fridge and soon, more friends and family would be coming over to see it for themselves.

Suddenly, notifications pinged from the phones of all the adults. They exchanged glances and rushed to look at their phones.

She died in a police raid led by Hui Zhenting after returning from a foreign country. Apparently, she had contraband stashed in her luggage which all the scans and police dogs and smart robots at the airport failed to sniff out!!!!! {Me thinks not.}

Long story short the only known copy of the book disappeared during that police raid. Her editor moved to the kingdom of New Zealand and Nan Yan Fei’s story was forgotten.

Until a copy of her book landed on my door step. And my oh my!!!!

Everyone finished reading the post at around the same time and they looked at each other, digesting what they had just read.

Chi Lian’s phone was already ringing. The Empress Mother was searching for her.

She did not take the call and looked at her children first. "Did any of you have anything to do with Nan Yan Fei? Not underwear related stuff because you are too young for that but anything else? Rumors about this book circulated two years ago. There were claims that it was about more than just ...you know." She pointed to Mingzhu as she didn’t want to expand on what she meant. "I want my granddaughter to keep her innocence so speak in code."

"Not me, I never met her." Jun Lei said.

All the children and some adults denied quickly. Chi Lian sighed.

Jun Muyang rolled his eyes. He and his wife had both read the book and they knew nobody in their family was involved with Nan Yan Fei.

She did write about Mingzhe, claiming that he once smiled at her when they crossed paths in an elevator in a hotel. Apparently, she thought there was a spark between them and she regretted not having followed him to ask for his phone number.

"I don’t know who that is." Mingzhe said.

The rest of them turned to him, their eyes conveying their shock. Nan Yan Fei might not have been the most popular celebrity but her death had made the news. Where had he been?

"That is impossible." Jun Yi said.

Mingzhe shrugged, eyes roaming over the ice cream selections as he looked for his choice of what he wanted. "I was away for training when she died and when I returned it was old news. It was not something important so I did not feel the need to care about it."

"Why doesn’t that surprise me?" Jun Jie walked to his big brother’s side to get ice cream as well.

Mingzhe lifted Mingzhu up so that she could see the ice cream clearly from high up on his shoulders.

"Mingzhe do you know Tangning is?" Mei Mei asked.

Everyone waited for his answer. They were certain that he would say yes because she lived next door and he had carried her into the house once.

"Who is that?" He asked.

There was silence in the fridge but if one listened closely, they would hear the horrified gasps of everyone. Madam Feng’s legs even trembled.

"He is joking." Mei Mei turned to her parents. "Please tell me that he is joking."

Chi Lian shook her head. "Your brother is excellent at retaining information but only for things that are important. So, unless she does something very memorable, harms or saves one of us or attempts to kill a member of the royal family, he will not keep her in his mind for more than five minutes after meeting her."

"He once arrested the blind date mom arranged for him." Jun Jie giggled.

Mei Mei was even more flabbergasted. "Brother, are you human!!"

"She had an unpaid parking ticket." Mingzhe replied with a straight face.

"It was one." Chi Lian shouted. "And your men are the ones that entered it into the system as soon as you sat down for that date."

Mingzhe turned and started walking out of the fridge with Mingzhu still on his shoulders. He knew exactly how that conversation would go because he had been through this with his mother before.

No matter how he explained and defended himself, his mother refused to believe that the whole fiasco had not been orchestrated by him.

The young woman he mad been forced to meet was the daughter of her mother’s friend. They almost had a falling out because of that incident.

"There he goes, walking away to avoid the topic of marriage and his use of military tactics to avoid blind dates." Chi Lian huffed.

Her phone rung, as did her smart watch and the phones of everyone in the fridge.

"Its the Empress Mother, don’t bother picking. She is probably losing her hair because of that tell all book. It was rumored back then that one or two royals were mentioned in it." She stood up. "I will go and see if there is any cleaning to do. I am not paid thirty million a month to sit on my ass."

She bid them farewell and left with Muyang.

Mei Mei decided that she had spent enough time in the refrigerator. Whiskers 10 was finally airing tonight and she needed to monitor online reactions.
