Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 322: Finding one of the eggs.
Jun Meilin understood the meaning of ask and receive so clearly when she found herself underwater, teleported there in an instant after using up all of the points she had earned so far.
But, at least the system had given her time to drive home and change into a a diving suit that was pressure-resistant and buy an oxygen supply tank from the system mall that was small but provided ten times more oxygen than the normal ones on earth.
After preparing, she was transported from her bedroom to Kunming lake, bumping into a school of fish as she steadied herself.
The surface of the lake was roaming with boats that carried armed Imperial agents. Hidden inside the lake was a small submarine which passed through every hour, searching for anything suspicious.
Mei Mei was teleported into the lake just as it finished a sweep of the area. She had enough time to swim to the part of the lake where it met an abyss near a mountain--Kunming mountain.
She had eaten two sugar cubes for energy and this allowed her to navigate the waters like a fish. She passed through narrow rocks corridors and finally found the entrance--a hole covered with a perfectly round stone which seemed to have been cut artificially. It was veiled behind a curtain of swaying kelp and weeds that shimmered like emerald fireflies.
Mei Mei took a block of C4 from the system space and blew up the rock. The sound startled some fish nearby and there was a ripple on the surface of the lake.
She did not wait to see or feel the effect and made her way into the cave. Inside, a narrow passage led to a chamber unlike anything she had ever seen. The walls of the cave were not stone, they were metallic. It gave her the same feeling that the stone that was covering the cave had given her. Someone or something had created this cave for the purpose of hiding something and that something was probably the egg.
Mei Mei turned on a torch and continued into the chamber. To her her surprise, she saw symbols on the metal walls and the floor.
"C4, scan...or take pictures." She said.
She could not understand what they meant but she was sure that Jingzhe would make some sense of it. If not him, her parents.
Following the symbols, she found the center of the cave. Nestled in a cradle of stone lay the egg.
It was beautiful, oval, blue, and glowing with a yellow light that reflected off the jewels embedded in many parts of the shell.
Mei Mei could not help moving closer and reaching out to touch the egg with her gloved hand. But, just as she brushed against the it, the cave begun to tremble. A vibration filled the chamber and from the shadows emerged a creature.
It was a an unusually large octopus with a body that shimmered yellow like the jewels on the egg. Its eyes were small , black and eerily human. It appeared threatening and yet it did not attack. It just watched.
"C4, any suggestions? Do I arm wrestle it?"
"Host, you do not have enough arms to arm wrestle and eight limbed octopus." The system replied. "I detect no hostility from the creature."
Mei Mei drew her hand away from the egg, showing no threat. The octopus retreated into the shadows.
She reached for the egg again and this time, touched it successfully. Not knowing what the octopus was up to, she sent the egg into the space immediately. The moment she did, the cave began to collapse, starting from where she had made entry.
The entrance closed off as rocks shifted and water surged, dashing into the cave like it was coming from a dam which had burst,
She swam in the direction where the octopus had come from, frantically sweeping her hands out with all of her strength.
"System, teleport me away." She commanded quickly.
She vanished within the blink of an eye. Ten seconds later, the Imperial submarine appeared where the cave had been and team of soldiers dove down to investigate the disturbance.
Back in her bedroom, Mei Mei had ripped off the oxygen mask and she undressing in the bathroom. She wrapped herself in a bathrobe and walked to the bed. Then, she took the egg out of the space. Now, she could take a closer look before handing it over to her special egg obsessed mother.
The egg felt a little heavy in her arms so placed it in the middle of the bed. First, she took a picture of it with a Polaroid camera.
As she placed the camera and picture down she asked, "C4, what can you detect about the egg?"
"It is not organic, I can say that for sure. But, it is not synthetic either. Further analysis has to be done to determine what kind of material the shell is made of." The little fox on her virtual screen seemed to be peering curiously from where it was.
"Host, give me ten minutes, there is something I need to do."
The virtual screen turned blank and C4 went quiet. Mei Mei had no idea what to do so she started observing the egg with her ordinary eyes. She noticed some patterns in the shell which connected to the yellow jewels.
"I wonder what kind of jewels these are?" She whispered to herself.
They looked like a combination of emeralds and diamonds but shinier. The material was more lustrous more translucent as well. It almost seemed high quality glass. She poked one of the jewels with the tip of her nail and saw a ripple.
Mei Mei was stunned and she backed away from the egg. Blinking furiously, her mind ran a dozen miles as she asked herself if she was seeing things.
She did the same thing and saw the same effect. Curious, she did it with different jewels and the same thing kept happening, ripples on the shell.
"What are you?" She asked herself. It almost seemed like the egg was trying to communicate. But that would mean that whatever was inside had to be alive. Not only was it alive but it was aware. It was responding to her presence, her touch. "You are not by any chance related to that bejeweled dragon egg that my mother is convinced is home to a real dragon. Are you?"
A glow came from the egg, more intense than when it was in the cave. Mei Mei decided to back away just it case it cracked open and some brain eating alien monster popped out.
She drew in a deep breath as she was scaring herself. What if that was the case and she had brought the alien monster home!!! To the house where her daughter lived!!! She was not keeping such a thing around and she did not want it in her system space.
It was time to lock the egg in a pod and hand it over to her mother. On her mom’s actual birthday, she would just give her some nice jewelry.
Suddenly, a small fox appeared in the air before Mei Mei’s eyes and danced in circles. "Great, I have upgraded again and I can enter the real world now."
