Chapter 269: I like being a villain.

Mo Ai bit her lower lip. Of course she was worried about her fate. she would be dead not to be worried. Her biggest worry was that she would be living on the street by the time all her problems were handled. When she thought about it, she wondered if prison was a better fate for her.

"Meilin," Grandpa Mo intervened, "What do you want?"

"From you, nothing." She answered, "There is absolutely nothing that any of you Mo’s can give to me to make me forget what you did to me over the years. The grudge between us is bigger than a mountain."

Mei Mei looked at the old man that was wearing a custom made suit--holding a luxury wooden cane with a green jade inlaid on the side. He loved to dress and act like the chairman of some large enterprise. There was a time when she had to fund his lavish lifestyle.

She clearly recalled how many times she had gone to him with her problems, hoping that he would be the one to talk sense back into Mo Liang. All those times, she left with empty promises and a bill to pay for his latest purchases.

And she could not forget the expensive tea leaves! Grandpa Mo did not drink the cheap stuff, his palate had become refined after the Mo’s made it. He only drunk expensive tea and he expected her to stock Juan tea leaves Da Hong Pao, rock mountain and other expensive tea leaves, local and exotic.

Mei Mei scoffed. Suddenly she started to wonder if she had made a mistake not offering him tea. She should have offered him hot water with the cheapest tea leaves she could find. That ought to teach him.

Assistant Han walked into the office with a tray that had two cups. She took it straight to Mei Mei’s desk and placed the cups down. "Boss, this is one of Juan tea’s new milk tea. Your aunt Sally insisted that I send it to you."

The scent of the tea wafted through the office. Grandpa Mo gulped. What he wouldn’t give for a sip?

"Buy some and send it home for my dog and cats." Mei Mei said.

Grandpa Mo’s face twitched and he clenched his hand around the cane. What a waste!! What a sin!!

Jingzhe chuckled. He had a feeling that the old man was having an invisible stroke. He looked like he was being electrocuted.

"Oh, and the tiger cub and wolf pup too." Mei Mei added like she had not noticed grandpa Mo’s twitching. "Only the best for my daughter’s pets."

"You...you..." grandpa Mo could not bring himself to scold her or call her all the names in his mind that he wanted to scream out.

"You would rather waste so much money on animals than us!" Mo Ai exclaimed.

"Who are you to me?" Mei Mei asked her. "Even if I had a billion yuan to waste right now, I would buy a yacht for my pets or a space ship and send them on a tour in space than give you a single coin."

"Say when, I will foot the bill." Jingzhe told her.

Mo Ai was dismayed. "Jingzhe, I am your cousin. You would rather give your money to her animals than me!"

Jingzhe returned the same question Mei Mei had asked her. "Who are you to me? I do have a billion yuan to spend but I would rather set it on fire than give it to you."

He was not joking, he would do it before their very eyes if they needed to see it to believe it.

Grandpa Mo wilted in the chair. Jun Meilin had gone crazy. Maybe the entire world had gone crazy with her.

Mei Mei took a sip of her tea slowly. "What else brings you here aside from your naive attempt to convince me to help you?"

Grandpa Mo sat up slowly. "Meilin, I know that Mo Liang did terrible things but you cannot take it out on the rest of the family. We did not really do anything to you."

Mei Mei almost laughed--almost. "Are you here to deny the past?"

"I did not come to deny anything." Grandpa Mo said, adjusting his coat. "I came to ask how we can resolve our differences and reconcile."

"Easy, I just want justice." Mei Mei said.

"What kind of justice?" he asked.

"Every criminal behind bars." She answered.

"Mo Liang and Tang Yue are behind bars. The news is already speculating on how long they will be there and some say it will be twenty years to life. You got a divorce and you have reunited with your family. You are running a successful business and living a new life. You have already won." He told her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

She narrowed her eyes. "That does not mean that I got justice, it just means that I have found a way to set my life back on track."

Grandpa Mo refused to give up. "Then why destroy the lives of others? Our family is in shambles, we have lost all face with the public. The company has collapsed and everyone that has another business outside the company is experiencing problems. Meilin, you are a good person. The fact that you put up with all the suffering Mo Liang put you through for so many years is proof of this. Do not let yourself become the villain in the story."

Mei Mei scoffed. "If I am the villain for seeking justice then I like being a villain. Do not be shameless old man, the so called side businesses you are talking about are all criminal enterprises. Selling fake jade, pretending to be an underage prostitute, blackmail, fraud, tax evasion. Are you sure that I am the villain here? If we line up the victims of the schemes of your Mo family, will they point me out as the villain or all of you that harmed them?"

Grandpa Mo took an uneasy breath. In the eyes of the law, they were the bad guys. None the less, he could not fold his arms and watch the family fall into despair. "There must be a way to fix this Meilin. What should we do to quell your anger? My wife filed for divorce from me because she is afraid that we are all going to end up like Chenyu."

"Chenyu!" Mei Mei acted surprised like someone who hadn’t plotted revenge murder in years. "He is in prison just like many of you will soon be."

Grandpa Mo and Mo Ai exchanged skeptical gazes.

"Mei Mei, did I forget to tell you that he died?" Jingzhe asked.

Mei Mei gasped. "Chenyu is dead!"
