Chapter 260: The Mo’s legal troubles.

Mo Liang was back in detention and he was not too happy about it. His lawyer had attempted to bail him out but he was met with blockades everywhere he turned.

Assuming that Empress Hui would help him out, he tried to reach out to her but failed. She was too busy giving a press conference and exaggerating her bravery after the assassination attempt.

He tried calling his relatives and none rushed to his aid. Most of them were too busy trying to figure out how to survive as partners of Space M were pulling out of contracts or suing them for one reason or the other. Others were trying to help their own children or parents that were facing legal trouble, thanks to Mei Mei and all the evidence she had accumulated over the years.

In fact, they were meeting at that very moment. Grandpa Mo had called a meeting of the meeting of the family to discuss how they would hand their troubles.

Most of the Mo’s were ashen faced, sitting like they were grieving. Which they were, as Mo Chenyu had only died recently. Some of them were wearing black, still in mourning.

Grandpa Mo was old, recent troubles had aged him even more. His heart was strained, he was close to having a heart attack.

"Mo Tian is still in prison as are three other members of this family. The company is in trouble and all of its accounts are frozen. Nearly everyone here is facing legal trouble. I told you all to find Jun Meilin and apologize to her. Why have I not seen any progress?" He asked them.

He was also facing his own legal trouble. The police had found footage of him selling fake sea cucumbers from ten years ago and they were calling it a serious crime.

Auntie Ping, Mo Bao’s wife could not remain calm. She had been reported for selling fake jade on a livestream. She had no idea how the police had figured out that it was her as she used a fake mask and filters to hide her identity.

She would do anything to avoid jail and she had been to Pearl Space Camp twice but turned away that the gates.

"How can we apologize to her when she won’t even meet with any of us? She even changed her phone number to make sure that we could not reach her anymore. The guards at her space camp won’t let us in."

Mo Guoqiang was even more frustrated than her. He was eighteen years old and about to enter university. His crime was selling fake celebrity autographs for profit. All the celebrities were from Phoenix Ent and the company was suing him.

"Grandpa, I can’t go to prison. I am only eighteen. I can’t get a criminal record or my life will be ruined. You have to do something."

Grandpa Mo was not sure what he could do. He had his own problems, how could he solve Guoqiang’s?

Mo Fanfan was shivering, she had catfished twenty eight men into sending her gifts and money while pretending to be a seventeen year old girl. The men were criminals and so was she.

She could only imagine what people were going to say about her when Phoenix news blasted her image all over their newspapers.

Uncle Mo Shuo was sure that he was in more trouble as he had bribed a few city officials to get Space M a few contracts. The bribes were always in cash stuffed in buckets of fried chicken.

How anyone had figured it out was a puzzle because pieces of chicken were always visible on the surface to make it seem like normal chicken deliveries.

What he did not realize was that Mei Mei had grown suspicious because she found receipts when she was asked to help do his laundry after he stayed at her house for a month and behaved like jerk the entire time.

She had grown curious about how often he ate chicken and followed the trail from there to discover his crimes. She took some pictures and saved the receipts.

Cousin Mo Anqi owned a house in the village where she manufactured illegal fireworks. Her employees were elderly people and disabled individuals that she housed there under the disguise of doing charity work.

Uncle Mo Bao was in charge of Space M’s charity foundation which Mei Mei had started. The donations were collected from people and the company added to it. They accepted money, clothes and food.

He had embezzled some money and most of the food, reselling it on the market.

Mei Mei had noticed because she had overheard Mo Bao’s secretary and another employee whispering about the shortage in dough that they were donating to a homeless food kitchen.

Mo Ai was in trouble for planting listening bugs in the homes of the clients that renovated their homes using Space M materials and later using some of the information she learned to blackmail them.

She had been unable to help herself one time when she was drunk and confessed the crime to Mei Mei. While she forgot, Mei Mei never did.

She had turned in a recording of the confession.

Mo Wenbin was a lawyer and also run a secret online tutoring class in which he taught people that paid heavy fees how not to file taxes and get away with other crimes.

Even fourteen year old Mo Xia was in trouble for cyber bullying.

There were more relatives, with their own crimes and all facing consequences which they assumed would go away if they just apologized to Mei Mei for treating her like an old teapot--useful but unwanted and could be tossed whichever way they wished as they insulted it.

Mo Bao’s phone rung, interrupting the ongoing family meeting.

"Its cousin Liang, again."

Mo Ai cursed. "If it was not for him, we would not be in trouble right now. We don’t even know how to help ourselves but he wants us to help him. How ridiculous!"

Grandpa Mo looked around the living room and he sighed. The Mo family was on a decline, only God knew if it would ever rise again. He knew these people quite well and he had a feeling that everyone was going to take what they could and split. "Was anyone here involved in his attempted murder?"

Everyone denied it quickly. Their crimes were bad but murder was worse. They were looking at fines, compensation and a few years in prison. Mo Liang was looked at a life sentence if the Jun’s got their way. Nobody wanted to be involved in that mess.

"I will be clear about this. If he needs witnesses, I am not volunteering and do not expect me to appear at his trial." Mo Ai declared.

No one else followed her declaration, but they were thinking it. Mo Liang and Mrs. Sun were on their own now that the good days were over.
