"You have got to stop kissing Su Feng!" Mei Mei run a hand through her hair as she faced Rong Meihua that was sobbing inconsolably.

Rong Meihua had not yet recovered from the first scandalous accidental kiss and now, another had followed. How was she ever going to explain this to her boyfriend?

Su Feng, had excused himself immediately after they reached the shore. His plan was to put some distance between himself and Rong Meihua. Whatever games gravity was playing, they were not funny.

Chen Zhilan thought the opposite. She found it funny that she had not stopped laughing. Tao Taiyuan was just shaking her head and sighing.

"Maybe the universe is trying to tell you something." Chen Zhilan suggested. "One accidental kiss can be an accident but two....." She held two fingers up and sighed. She believed in zodiac signs, karma and the universe.

To her, these accidental kisses had to mean something. But what?

Mei Mei rolled her eyes at Chi Zhilan. So, here came miss astrology with her universe talk. She had forgotten perhaps, that Meihua’s boyfriend and Su Feng were friends.

"So, do you think the peepstar’s invisible camera saw it?" Tao Taiyuan asked.

Rong Meihua’s sobs became louder. There was no question about it, the peepstar was always around the places where nobles gathered. It was to be expected that somewhere on this large beach, the peepstar was around in person of had cameras in the area.

"If he loves you he will understand that it was a mistake." Mei Mei consoled Ronghua.

Che Zhilan was tapping her fingers against the thumbs and counting or muttering like some kind of metaphysical master. All of them were familiar with these little actions.

In fact, most of the people from the noble society or those that had attended school with Zhilan were familiar with her finger counting or fake wise guru act.

"Ronghua, you are a Leo and Mr. Bo is a Scorpio. You are fire, he is water. The two of you are incompatible. I am telling you, the universe is..."

"Oh my God, quit it with the zodiacs." Taiyuan raised her voice and slapped Zhilan’s hands.

Ronghua run off dramatically in tears to explain this accidental kiss to her boyfriend before he found out through the peepstar. Taiyuan followed, to comfort her friend in case things did not go well.

Mei Mei yawned and leaned back on the beach bed. Zhilan joined her, facing upwards and crossing one leg over the other. "They are not meant to be."

Mei Mei groaned.

Zhilan reached for a drink in a coconut. "I am not just saying this because of the accidental kisses. BoBo [As she called him since childhood] is a hot head. He is very stern and sometimes when he is angry and he talks, she gets so scared that she trembles."

Mei Mei sat up. "Don’t tell me that he has hit her or something!"

Zhilan shook her head. "No, nothing of the sort. He is just tough...I would say like a soldier but he is not a soldier."

"He is a police chief." Mei Mei replied. "Aren’t those the men that are trending in dramas lately? Cold faced but passionate when they are in love? I thought that was what most women found romantic nowadays."

Zhilan laughed. "Dramas are not reality. My fiance is softer than a teddy bear and he cries more than I do and I love him with all my soul. I am an Aries and he is a Gemini. Together, we are perfect." She turned her head to the right and looked at Mei Mei. "You and Mo Liang were not compatible. He is a Cancer...."

"He is a cancer alright." Mei Mei jumped in.

Zhilan cackled. The joke or truth was very funny. "A leech."

"Leech Mo." Mei Mei snickered.

The two friends giggled like little girls at a sleep over hiding under a blanket with a torch and sharing secrets that no one would ever know. Except, everyone would come to know about the names cancer Mo and leech Mo before the day wrapped up.

"What are the odds of us finding a leech in the sea right now?" Zhilan sat up.

Mei Mei pretended to think about the question for a moment. But, she did not need to because she had a system that provided an answer which she read out to her friend. "Slim to none, unless we go scuba diving or turn into fish or turtle."

Zhilan looked disappointed. "That is too bad," She said. "I was hoping that we could find an actual leech and name it Mo Liang and you can take it home as a pet." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Mei Mei laughed first, enjoying the idea.

"Maybe we can even start a weibo page for it like your family did for Meow Meow. Since he likes fame, we make the lech famous instead of him." Zhilan added between laughs.

Mei Mei reached out and hugged Zhilan from behind, leaning her head against her friend’s back. "Zhilan, I don’t know if you are a genius or simply devious. Perhaps stupid..."

"Hey.." Zhilan cut in, complaints filling her tone.

"Not stupid in an education or common sense kind of way but stupid in a silly idea way." Mei Mei elucidated loudly. "I must admit that the idea is brilliant but sadly, I cannot take on anymore pets because in a fortnight alone I went from petless to owning an entire zoo in my house."

Zhilan was surprised. Mei Mei had strict no pet policies for her future home back when they were in school. "So what changed?"

"I have a daughter that inherited her grandmother’s love for all animals and Jun Yi’s trait of bandaging the booboos of every injured creature that she meets." She described.

Zhilan sighed in understanding. "Cats or dogs?"

"Three cats, one dog, two geese...I think, one wolf cub, one tiger cub, a tortoise, a parrot and now an owl." Mei Mei blinked as she wondered if she had covered them all. "Oh, and Meow Meow moved in with me so...I don’t own her but she is my problem now."

Zhilan tried to whistle and failed. Air was all that came out of her puckered lips. "An owl!!"

Mei Mei turned her eyes in the direction of her slumbering boyfriend. Next to his beach chair was a baby stroller. "Do you see the stroller next to my lovely puppy?"

Zhilan turned her head and looked at it. It was sitting under an umbrella, next to the table with the pastries.

"The owl which I found out in the morning is named Tofu is napping inside." Mei Mei said, with another sigh. "My mother bought the stroller because Mingzhu said that Tofu is a baby and she is too young to walk on her own. I can only imagine the looks on people’s faces when they congratulate me as I push the damn thing down the street during one of our walks. And when they say ’can I see the baby’, I will have to pull the top back and reveal an owl!!"
