Kissed and Seduced By the Most Rough Man in the Village-Chapter 477: Su Xiaoxiao’s Confession
Jiang Yexun could see that his little wife truly didn’t want to go, and immediately regretted pushing her earlier. Lowering his gaze to hide the guilt in his eyes, he gently took Su Xiaoxiao’s hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
"This came too suddenly," Jiang Yexun said softly. "I think Xiaoxiao must be feeling a bit overwhelmed. How about we give her a few more days to think it over?" he suggested, glancing at the others.
Su Hongchen nodded in agreement. "I think Yexun’s right. Everything has been happening so fast lately, and Xiaoxiao must still be processing it all. Let’s not rush her into making a decision, even if it seems like a good opportunity. What matters most is that Xiaoxiao is happy."
He continued, his voice gentle yet firm. "It’s not like she’s been doing nothing all this time, living carefree. But now that we offer her something, we shouldn’t just expect her to accept it without thinking. Sometimes, these expectations become a silent pressure."
"You’re right," Mr. Su said, acknowledging their point. "Let’s give Xiaoxiao more time to think it over."
After a brief pause, he added, "I almost forgot to mention—our leaders are aware that you’re married now. They’re concerned that you might not want to be separated from each other, so they’ve offered to arrange a job for Yexun in Beijing."
Beijing! That was a tempting prospect. Aunt Guo’s heart fluttered at the idea. Yet, she immediately suppressed the excitement to avoid putting any pressure on Xiaoxiao.
"Work doesn’t matter," Jiang Yexun said calmly, brushing off the offer. "What’s important is that Xiaoxiao is happy."
From beginning to end, Jiang Yexun didn’t show any outward reaction, not even a shift in his mood. He’d been so fortunate to marry the woman he loved, and everything he did would be centered around her happiness.
"I agree," Mr. Su smiled. "You two, as a couple, should make the decision together. Don’t feel pressured."
Su Xiaoxiao nodded obediently, though there was still a conflicted look in her eyes.
After everyone had left, Jiang Yexun took her hand and led her upstairs to their room.
As soon as the door closed, his soft little wife threw herself into his arms.
"It’s okay. Let’s not think about it anymore. I know you don’t want to go to the College for Workers and Farmers, and I’ll talk to everyone tomorrow night," Jiang Yexun said, his voice full of tenderness as he stroked her soft head.
Su Xiaoxiao opened her mouth, unsure of how to speak. Earlier, as she looked at the proud, admiring eyes of her family, she hadn’t felt the happiness she had expected. Even though the New Steel had been completed ahead of schedule, which would upgrade all of China’s weaponry—airplanes, warships, and tanks—she still felt guilty.
She didn’t deserve the credit. She felt like a thief who had stolen Jiang Yexun’s achievements. Everything that was good should have been his, yet it had all fallen onto her lap.
But the hardest part was that she couldn’t tell Jiang Yexun the truth about their previous life. She couldn’t tell him that in her past life, she had married Pan Yongsheng. Even though nothing physical had happened between them, she still felt like she had betrayed him.
If it weren’t for the bracelet that had inexplicably bound her fate to Jiang Yexun’s, she would have distanced herself from him, never to harm him again.
The more they were together, the sweeter things felt, yet the more she couldn’t bring herself to confess the truth about their past.
She didn’t want him to know that, in the previous life, her mother had died trying to protect her from the Old Jiang family. She didn’t want him to know that in the end, he had never been forgiven by his sister, and the two families had been estranged forever.
She felt like such a coward, a weakling.
Tears streamed down her face as she berated herself internally. Yet, when she looked up, she wiped her tears away, determined to be brave.
Since she had already decided to confess, she couldn’t do anything that would make Jiang Yexun soft-hearted.
"Whitening Pill, Moisture Pill, and the New Steel project—they weren’t my research. They are..."
"You don’t have to explain," Jiang Yexun interrupted gently. "I already know. But none of that matters. What matters is that you’re here with me, that you’re my wife. That’s all that matters."
Su Xiaoxiao froze, her eyes widening in shock. "You know? How did you find out? When did you realize something was off?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"I realized when I pulled you out of the water," Jiang Yexun replied softly, his gaze tender and intense as he looked at her. His eyes seemed to hold the entire universe in them—so deep, so warm.
"That early?" Su Xiaoxiao was astonished.
Jiang Yexun smiled slightly. "Yes, at that time I thought you might be possessed by something."
"You still let me hug and kiss you then? Do you only like my appearance? Who I really am doesn’t matter?" Su Xiaoxiao glared at him, a little bit upset.
"It’s not like that. My first reaction was to not scare you or let you know that I suspected something. I even thought about going to the next village to find someone to secretly check on you. But when we got to the health station, I saw you were still you—your little habits when you smile, the way you speak, even the way you get angry. You were the same, so I didn’t think much more about it," Jiang Yexun explained earnestly, pulling her back into his arms.
Su Xiaoxiao lay against him, puzzled. "Weren’t you curious about what happened to me?"
"If I’m being honest, yes, I was curious. But more than that, I was scared and heartbroken," Jiang Yexun sighed. "The way you acted when we got back to Xingzhi, how you were worried about your mom’s safety, and the fact that you suspected someone was secretly following you—it all made me realize what you’d been through. I could guess a lot just from that."
He wasn’t stupid. It was a coincidence if someone was cautious. But his little wife had so many precautions, so many fears. How could he not figure it out?
Su Xiaoxiao opened her mouth, her words caught in her throat as she struggled to speak. "Actually, I..."
"You don’t have to say anything," Jiang Yexun interrupted, pressing a gentle finger to her lips. "I know you don’t want to talk about it. Whatever it is, whatever you went through, it’s in the past. All that matters to me is this life, the one we’re living now. You’re here with me, and that’s the only truth I care about."
He cupped her face with both hands, looking deeply into her eyes. "Whatever you’re worried about, whatever dangers we face, I will investigate them with you. I won’t let you go through the same pain again. I won’t be the useless man I once was. I’ll make sure we face everything together, and we will get through it together."
Su Xiaoxiao’s heart fluttered as she listened to him, feeling both comforted and overwhelmed by his words. For the first time in a long while, she felt like she could finally let her guard down.
