Kissed and Seduced By the Most Rough Man in the Village-Chapter 350: Su Xiaoxiao, the Spoiled Darling
"Xiaoxiao, do you want to come by the small building tomorrow? If there’s anything you want to arrange, we can get it ready in advance," Aunt Guo asked with a smile.
Su Xiaoxiao felt a bit apologetic and pressed her lips together, "I can’t make it tomorrow. I ran into an old high school classmate and we’ve planned to visit the scrap yard to look for some books."
Aunt Guo nodded quickly, "You rarely come back, so you should catch up with your friends. The bond of old classmates is important."
For the older generation, friendships were highly valued, especially those from school.
However, compared to catching up with classmates, Aunt Guo would have preferred to oversee the preparations for the new house. In her previous life, after marrying Pan Yongsheng and having a tough time, her classmates’ advice had been along the lines of "this is how marriage is; women just have to endure more." She was very aware that such views were prevalent among women of her era, but differing philosophies could make it hard to connect.
Su Xiaoxiao agreed to meet Gui Zhenzhen mainly because she was curious about why Gui Zhenzhen seemed overly eager and wanted to see if there was something more to it.
Nevertheless, Aunt Guo clearly hoped she would visit the small building, so Su Xiaoxiao and her parents went over after having some fruit.
Although the weather had turned cold, it was only seven o’clock, and people were still sitting with chairs under the street lamps, chatting and warming themselves.
They had become familiar with Aunt Guo in recent days and knew the house was bought for Su Xiaoxiao’s wedding. Back then, they had wondered what kind of girl could make someone spend so much money on a new house, especially one bought from the Northeast.
Seeing Su Lianghui and Gu Yuzhen, they understood.
"Head Gu, Director Su, so Jiang is your future son-in-law? We were curious about Jiang’s family’s formality. It seems it was indeed necessary," a familiar person greeted with a smile.
"Yes, Jiang is our son-in-law. He and his mother value our Xiaoxiao greatly, which is why they spent so much. Actually, as long as the young couple is happy, we parents don’t mind these things at all," Mrs. Su replied politely.
The envious looks from the crowd were quite satisfying for her. Even though she had never sought to gain face from her children, who wouldn’t want their beloved daughter to marry well and be proud of a capable son-in-law?
"When the wedding day comes, do let us know so we can come and celebrate," another person quickly added.
Mr. and Mrs. Su readily agreed, but whether they would actually come on the day remained to be seen.
Su Xiaoxiao’s group entered the small building, and Aunt Guo immediately pointed to the empty spaces on either side of the yard. "Here, you love persimmons and dates, right? We’ll plant a couple of trees. We’ll set up a gazebo here and plant a grapevine, so you can enjoy the shade on sunny days."
"Mother-in-law, aren’t you planning to grow vegetables?" Mrs. Su asked in surprise.
She thought Aunt Guo, who had spent her life farming, would want to grow something.
Aunt Guo shook her head, "Growing vegetables requires fertilization, and the smell isn’t pleasant. Xiaoxiao likes fruits and flowers, so we’ll grow some fruits ourselves and buy the vegetables."
Mrs. Su was surprised that Aunt Guo had thought of everything and wasn’t stingy at all, her smile bright as a flower.
Aunt Guo took Su Xiaoxiao’s hand and showed her around the three floors. In fact, Su Xiaoxiao didn’t have much to change. One, they couldn’t afford any extravagant changes right now; two, Aunt Guo was a wealthy family’s daughter and had a certain sophistication. She was more than capable of handling such a small building.
After leaving the small building, Mrs. Su looked at her daughter with a wry smile.
Su Xiaoxiao blinked in confusion, "Mom, why are you looking at me like that?"
"I always thought you were too naive and easily deceived. I didn’t expect you to be so lucky, meeting such a reliable partner and mother-in-law in the countryside," Mrs. Su said with some emotion.
Su Xiaoxiao felt a bit guilty and swallowed nervously. She had indeed been easily deceived. In her previous life, despite encountering good luck, she was still manipulated and ultimately brought her own downfall.
It was only by being reborn that she learned to be more discerning and appreciate Aunt Guo and Jiang Yexun. But Mrs. Su thought her reaction was just shyness and made a few lighthearted remarks before moving on.
The next morning, Su Xiaoxiao almost overslept and was only woken up by her mother.
"You’re going to be late! Still sleeping!" Mrs. Su said, covering her face with a warm towel.
It felt like a déjà vu from her school days, making Su Xiaoxiao momentarily disoriented.
However, she quickly regained her composure and hurried out of bed.
Mrs. Su pointed to the clothes on a nearby chair, "These are new clothes. I had a tailor make them from the fabric Jiang sent. Try them on and see if they fit."
Su Xiaoxiao got dressed in the light cream wool turtleneck and a pale yellow woolen jacket, paired with white corduroy pants and black high-top leather shoes. The outfit not only looked youthful but also complemented her fair skin beautifully.
"You look so beautiful, my daughter," Mrs. Su said, turning Su Xiaoxiao around and nodding in satisfaction.
Su Xiaoxiao worried, "Will they suspect my dad has problems because of what I’m wearing?"
"With your dad’s and your brother’s combined salary, we have over four hundred a month. Plus, your brother’s bonuses are here too. What’s wrong with you wearing new clothes to meet friends? We can afford it, so let them say what they want," Mrs. Su said firmly.
She wanted her daughter to look as beautiful as possible. They worked hard for their high positions and earned good salaries to allow their daughter to wear nice clothes. Old, worn clothes were fine for them, but Su Xiaoxiao deserved better.
Seeing that her mother was set on her wearing the new clothes, Su Xiaoxiao had to accept it and left the house in the new outfit.
The bus to work was still quite crowded, and she stood for three stops before reaching the high school’s gate.
From a distance, Su Xiaoxiao saw three female classmates waiting and quickly walked over to them.
