Chapter 7 - I'm Not Here To Murder You

Presumptuous!

Zhang Min's face twitched; his expressions were worth to take a snapshot. It seemed like he had a terrible itch somewhere and he couldn't scratch it then no matter how much he wanted. He could only swallow down his anger.

"You recognized me?" Li Luxian said - his voice light and breezy. But that was merely a rhetorical question.

Chen Yi eased a little. The person on her doorstep wasn't someone sent by Zhao Liwei. She assumed that bumpkin was no threat to her. How wrong she was.

"What-What are you doing here?" She frowned deeply.

Clad in some branded formal suit, he definitely didn't resemble any bumpkin now. Rather he gave off the vibes of a 'tycoon'. His disposition was impeccable-calm and incisive. His personality was thunderous, making one inevitably feel pliant and yielding in his presence.

Chen Yi had seen a fair share of powerful men in her lifespan. So despite finding him there standing in a black suit giving off all 'I'm an important person and don't mess with me' vibes that would make a group of strangers to part willingly and give this man a clear passage, she still was not scared or nervous in his overbearing presence.

Instead, Chen Yi eyed him with confusion. 'So he is not really a bumpkin.' She had realized it by now. No bumpkin would have worn such clothes and followed by so many servents. While Chen Yi was still lost in her thoughts, Li Luxian took the liberty to invite himself in.

Chen Yi: "..."

His secretary and half a dozen men followed behind him. And so Chen Yi's small apartment was crowded with uninvited guests.

Chen Yi was left stupefied standing by the open door.

'Even if you are not a bumpkin, there are limits! Hey!'

Chen Yi saw him walking in a regal and kingly gait to the center of her apartment. He made himself comfortable on Chen Yi's favorite couch in a dignified manner crossing his one leg over others as if the place belonged to him.

"What do you think you are you doing?" Chen Yi crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him.

"Taking a seat and making myself comfortable." Why was she asking such an obvious question?

"Umm... I think can see that much for myself but...why?"

"Because it would be uncomfortable if we talked while standing?" Li Luxian was wondering what was wrong with her. Asking such basic questions?

Chen Yi: "..."

The face Chen Yi made unintentionally made her look cute in Li Luxian eyes. Li Luxian lips curled up into a smile. He had to admit that wife was gorgeous.

"Ms. Chen, please take a seat" Li Luxian gestured with serious expressions.

Was this guy real?

"Who do you think you are to enter other's places at your will and asking them to take a seat in their own homes?" She felt like losing it.

Who did he think he was? Who did he think he was?! He was Li Luxian! Secretary Zhang stood up as if he had been poked with a hot pointed thing in his ass. "Ms. Chen, let me introduce Mr. Li, the young master of the Li family and the heir to Li corporation." He bowed formally.

"Li corporation?" Chen Yi's eyes widened to their last extent as she looked from his subordinate to that supposed bumpkin, then at the subordinate, then back at the bumpkin. "You must be kidding. Right?" She asked seriously. After a few seconds, she laughed. "Of course, you are kidding. Haha, such a funny joke. I almost believed you for once."

Zhang Min's face was still serious and stiff. He didn't laugh at all. So were all the bodyguards and the bumpkin. No one was looking like they were joking.

Chen Yi's heart skipped a beat as her mind processed Zhang Min's words. "I don't believe you!" Without wasting another second, she took out her cell and typed his name on a Baidu with swift fingers. A handsome face popped out in the front. Chen Yi looked at the picture then at the serious-looking man on her favorite couch.

She dropped her phone. She was terrified and stepped back in shock.

"Ms. Chen are you alright? You look pale." A corner of his lip was curled up as he stared at Chen Yi with a teasing spark in his eyes. He so badly wanted to see that reaction from her since the day he had met her. Oh, he was so enjoying it.

On the other hand, Chen Yi's brain was going into overdrive. 'How can I be alright when someone like you is sitting in front of me after I had offended you!'

"M-Mr Li" She stuttered. "W-Why did you not tell me that night that it was you?" She couldn't think of anything else to say right now.

"You didn't give me a chance" He simply stated.

"Y-You could just have shouted it out when I first grabbed you" Chen Yi took a couple of steps back. This person was clearly not here to play cards with her. She wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.

She was considering to dash out of her apartment in the first chance once they were distracted. She stealthily slipped closer and closer to the door. But her slight movements couldn't evade Li Luxian incisive eyes. "Trying to run, are you Ms. Chen?" He laughed lightly. "It's useless. Even if you manage to escape somehow, that is already highly unlikely, I would get you back in no time."

Two of the burly bodyguards slammed the door shut ending Chen Yi hopes of escape. Chen Yi wanted to cry. She had no hope. She was in huge trouble.

Chen Yi's heart throbbed as she stared at that scary man. Now there was only death or Mr. Li. Of them both, the former sounded more appealing. She didn't want to be tortured. There were a lot of rumors about that man.

"Why did you not even mention it once who you were?" Chen Yi cried in desperation.

"As I said earlier, you didn't give me a chance. And the moment after I was grabbed, I was kissed and later when I tried to hint you, I was thrown with money and called a bumpkin." Li Luxian smiled faintly and maintained his piercing gaze at the woman before him.

Chen Yi wanted to bang her head in a wall and die from a hemorrhage right then and there. Not only she kissed Li Luxian, the tyrannical Li Luxian of the great Li family, but she also called him a bumpkin and threw some petty notes at him! Those crimes were enough to sentence her with a death penalty!

"Why do you look like you are about to cry?" Li Luxian sighed. Did he scare her too much? He wanted to scare her a little so she would agree but too much wasn't good too. "Ms. Chen, I'm not here to murder you"

"Then why are you here?" She summoned her courage to ask.

Li Luxian: "..." Did she really think he was here to murder her? This woman; she was crazy. "What gave you the impression that I am here to murder you?"

"I don't know. Maybe a dozen burly, scary-looking blood-thirsty bodyguards that are surrounding us."

Li Luxian frowned. "Hey, these guys are not that scary once you get to know them. In fact, they are very funny."

Chen Yi: "..." Those grim-looking, mountains of muscles are funny?

Li Luxian sighed noticing her expressions.

"Alright, if they make you feel uncomfortable, I will have them wait outside." Li Luxian gestured and they all moved. Only Zhang Min remained. "Why don't you take a seat so we discuss what I am here for?"

When Chen Yi finally felt like she was not going to get murdered, she had enough courage to walk to the couch and take a seat.. But next moment Li Luxian flipped a few files onto the table that sucked away all her courage and made her almost fall down from the couch.
