Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!-Chapter 2217: The Killing Power of the Goddess Statue
Other players were surprised by the physical strength of this stranded player, but soon, they had no mood to care about others’ strength because the player with the tickets fell from the foot of the Goddess statue and tore off the cloth covering the statue!
The wide red silk cloth slipped down, and the true appearance of the Goddess statue unexpectedly collided with everyone’s eyes on the scene. The eyes embedded all over the Goddess opened almost simultaneously, and the moving eyeballs searched for targets around, instantly locking on everyone inside and outside the temple, including the player with the tickets who had their back to the statue.
The player with the tickets, along with two stranded players at the temple door, froze in place under the gaze of the eyes. Moments later, blood flowed from their noses and mouths, and they died. The players further away outside the temple fared no better. They couldn’t even take their eyes off the statue, staring intently at the sculpture until blood gushed from their eyes, their pupils trembling unnaturally, and they started coughing up large amounts of blood. Finally, their bodies went limp, and they knelt in front of the temple, at the foot of the Goddess statue.
There were, in fact, quite a few players dispersed around. One temple player, enduring severe pain, covered the statue back with the red cloth from a distance and called on their companions to retreat a bit. Gradually, the erratic eyeballs ceased their chaos and quickly fell into a slumber.
The mental pressure inside and outside the temple was swept away.
"Is there water in your brains?" A temple player exclaimed in fury, "If the cloth on the Goddess statue could be removed, why would we keep it covered usually? You’re courting death and dragging others down with you!"
This remark reminded others that the ones most knowledgeable about the temple were undoubtedly these players responsible for its security.
People around unanimously cast their gaze upon them. The temple members already knew what had happened outside and couldn’t help but sneer, "This is our first time entering this instance. Everything that usually happens inside is only clear to the Divine Envoys, but unfortunately, they were killed."
"Your Divine Envoys were useless," a Rank-A Player said while rubbing their temples, "No one in this zone can truly communicate with the Goddess. So, why don’t you tell us how you managed to extract things from the instance?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Those dungeon props hidden inside your temple couldn’t have been brought out by yourselves, and it’s unlikely that the Outer Zone players kindly delivered them to you."
"I’ve told you, besides the Divine Envoys, no one knows," the temple player who spoke earlier insisted, asserting that only the Divine Envoys could communicate with the Goddess, "Otherwise, why would we support the Divine Envoys?"
"You understand perfectly well what this instance is like. Today, you and the Saintess took turns on the altar, likely arranged with Super-Evolvers of the Psyche. Do you really believe in this ’divine’ spiel in the game?"
"Can you handle things from the Goddess?" the temple player mocked, pointing at the statue inside the temple, "Let me tell you, there are at least twelve such Goddess statues in the entire temple. The one moved outside for the Goddess Day is merely the largest."
"The Holy Land Goddess Temple doesn’t have that many Goddess statues," remarked a stranded player who had been inside the temple.
"Do you think the temple you’ve seen is the real, entire temple?" The temple player taunted even more, "Watch yourselves."
Saying so, these people retreated into the back of the temple, directly closing the temple doors.
The Rank-A Player scrutinized the temple door and, after a short pause, walked away.
Everyone had witnessed the power of the Goddess statue, and no one dared to rashly approach it again. Even the fighting had diminished considerably.
After almost surveying the entire inside of the temple, a player finally raised the question, "Why haven’t we seen a single player who previously entered to clear the instance?"
A good number of players had entered before the Goddess Day. The time requirement for this instance is fourteen days, did they all die?
"No one alive, and no corpses found," commented a slightly panicked player with an arm injury, "Can any player actually leave this instance alive? Are those stranded players real?"
"Stop letting your imagination run wild," a player next to them admonished, "This kind of thinking is the biggest taboo in spiritual dungeons."
But people are just like this— the more they are told not to do something, the more they want to do it. Moreover, they have to think about how to clear the instance, which makes it impossible not to think about anything.
However, among them were a few emotionally stable ones who had already found a place to rest, ignoring others completely and focusing on things that could absorb their attention.
Xu Huo pressed his sore and swollen eyes. He hadn’t had time to retract his Spiritual World when the Goddess statue appeared, but he was watched again. However, the distance was relatively far, and the temple seemed to have some restrictive function, so the situation was much better than before.
The most important thing was the rapid progress after using the Evolution Potion this time. Both in using Psychic Power and Spatial Power, the burden had reduced considerably.
However, in this instance, the destructive power of the Goddess statue was indiscriminate, affecting both people from the inner and Outer Zone. This was vastly different from the wise form of the Goddess he saw manifested outside. Was it an instance requirement, or was it inherently an unstable place?
The temple gradually quieted down, and Xu Huo leaned against the door, closing his eyes to rest. Soon, the first person packed up their site props and left the side hall.
Though the place was unclear when they walked out of the side hall, they soon regained their senses. After realizing they inexplicably walked out, the player returned frantically, but instead of entering the side hall, they bypassed it and entered a rear temple housing a statue. Standing in front of the wall behind the statue, they mimed a door-closing gesture, then plunged headlong into the wall and were immediately swallowed up.
Xu Huo knew the temple walls harbored Psychic Power, but for it to swallow someone wasn’t solely related to Psychic Power. Even with a Mental Portal, the player shouldn’t have disappeared from inside the temple.
Quickly arriving outside the temple, he rapidly searched inside and outside with his Psychic Power, and finding no trace, expanded the search range, yet the player was nowhere to be found in the entire temple...
"Could it be similar to the hidden spaces at the underground mine entrance in Hua City?"
Not directly touching the wall, Xu Huo returned to the previous side hall. Predictably, several players and their props had disappeared as well, all pierced by mental points when they entered. If these mental points disrupted players, over time, all players in the instance would inevitably be affected, no wonder the death rate in this instance was so high—slow accumulation of small disturbances resulted in significant disruption.
The mental points were quite intriguing, but he didn’t want to linger here, so he straightforwardly went to the Inquiry Hall in the Holy Land Goddess Temple, expanded the Spiritual World, and transformed his Psychic Power into multiple secant lines pressing against the hall’s walls:
"Come out and chat."
