Just A Daoist Who Occasionally Kicks Ass-Chapter 311: Hu Jinbao, the Mountain God, and an Unexpected Turn!
Mr. Hua was furious. He swept a cold gaze across the room, and he was so angry that he let out a laugh instead.
“Very well! What a trick! To steal the Firefly Fruits right under my very nose!”
His eyes were as sharp as a hawk’s, flashing with a terrifying chill. Li Yanchu looked around in surprise, though a faint smile tugged at his lips.
Daoist arts! Telekinetic Retrieval! Universe Pouch!
This was the perfect method for snatching treasures.
The atmosphere grew heavy, and everyone present grew wary and tense. The hot-tempered among them couldn’t hold back, shouting curses aloud.
“Damn it!”
“Which bastard is so ruthless!?” 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
“Stealing the entire tray of Firefly Fruits!”
“Does he want us all dead!?”
Suddenly, Hu Jinbao grabbed a chopstick from the table. With a sudden flick, he hurled it!
Whoosh!
The chopstick turned into a streak of silver light, flying straight toward that peach blossom-eyed Young Master Chu. Young Master Chu’s strength wasn’t outstanding. He was skilled only in qinggong, poison, and illusions. At the banquet earlier, no one had even looked twice at him.
But Hu Jinbao was different; he was a true illegitimate god who had received incense offerings. Though he didn’t flaunt his power, everyone present was wary of his cultivation.
Yet, unexpectedly, just as the chopstick neared Young Master Chu’s forehead, it suddenly shattered and turned into powder!
That lethal strike was dispelled as if it were nothing!
Young Master Chu acted as though unaware, smiling pleasantly.
“Mr. Hu, in what way have I offended you?”
At that moment, his handsome face carried a touch of calm steadiness. Gone was the frivolous, lustful air from before.
“You have quite the remarkable disguise technique. Unfortunately, you just now leaked the aura of the Dao. Otherwise, I truly wouldn’t have noticed.” Hu Jinbao’s voice was cold as he spoke.
At these words, the entire crowd was stunned! They couldn’t help but cast astonished glances at this so-called Young Master Chu.
“You’re a local earth god, yet wantonly taking lives. Mr. Hu, you truly are ruthless, with a ferocity impossible to tame!” Young Master Chu sneered.
An earth god!? Li Yanchu was taken aback! He had only sensed incense energy on Hu Jinbao, but had not expected him to be an actual earth deity.
His expression turned somewhat strange. Hu Jinbao narrowed his eyes, exuding authority without anger.
“What boldness to dare masquerade as one of our Xinyi Dao disciples!”
Mr. Hua gave a cold snort, and his killing intent was laid bare. In an instant, the air grew taut as drawn swords. The various stray gods, evil cultivators, and heretical practitioners all turned hostile gazes on Young Master Chu.
In truth, the one disguised as Young Master Chu was a Daoist disciple, named Zhao Youwei. Though he looked calm and composed, his heart was beginning to pound.
He had learned of this gathering of demons and outcasts, and so had used disguise to sneak in and gather intelligence.
He had deliberately chosen the role of the socially bold Young Master Chu, to blend in and liven the atmosphere. No one had given him a second glance.
But who could have predicted that someone with ill intentions would, under everyone’s eyes, steal away the entire tray of Firefly Fruits. The theft had raised unbearable tension!
And when Zhao Youwei probed with Daoist arts, he had accidentally let slip his aura. Exposed by the earth god Hu Jinbao, Zhao Youwei’s cover was blown.
Inside, he was in a full panic, but outwardly he looked calm and steady.
“You’re just a rabble of lowly illegitimate gods and evil cultivators, and you dare to clamor before a Daoist master!”
The crowd’s gazes grew increasingly hostile, while Zhao Youwei glared back fiercely at the gathering of fiends and outcasts.
“I will now...” Before he could finish his words, his fist shot out like lightning, smashing toward the eye of a black-robed man beside him.
Bang!
The man staggered, and his eye socket burst with blood. In the same instant, Zhao Youwei shoved a yellow talisman into his mouth.
“Explode!”
The moment the words fell, the man’s head erupted and burst into a cloud of blood mist. Zhao Youwei shoved the corpse aside and bolted forward! The entire sequence unfolded too fast, all within a flash of lightning, so fast that the crowd was caught off guard.
But then, the fierce ghost Chang Buopi, once a butcher in life, swung a blade down at him from above. The strike was heavy, fast, and precise!
Shhhk!
Zhao Youwei twisted aside, but the sharp blade still sheared away a large chunk of flesh. As blood sprayed, he sucked in a cold breath, gritting his teeth against the pain.
Then, his fingers pressed together like a sword. The blood from his wounded arm instantly condensed into a crimson arrow, shooting straight into the butcher ghost’s face.
Ssssss! It sounded like boiling oil splashed onto snow.
“Ahhh!” the butcher ghost howled in agony while covering his face.
If this were an ordinary one-on-one fight, a single fierce ghost really wouldn’t be a match for him. Unfortunately, the twenty-four outsiders and fiends who had been invited here today were all formidable.
Mr. Hua fixed his gaze on Zhao Youwei, and it was as if a wisp of black energy flashed in his eyes.
Suddenly, Zhao Youwei felt his head spin and his vision blur, and drowsiness overwhelmed him!
Soul Art!
But Zhao Youwei was ruthless, and he slapped his palm hard against the wound on his arm. The tearing pain was so intense it felt like his heart was being ripped apart, and the agony jolted him instantly awake.
Just then, the sound of fierce wind roared in his ears.
Whoosh!
That pig-faced man had already spread his fan-sized hand to grab at him at lightning speed.
At this time, Zhao Youwei’s heart sank. The crushing wind pressure made it hard for him to breathe. Even his nose trickled faintly with blood, and the capillaries inside had been burst by the sheer force of the pressure.
At this critical moment, he actually used the Iron Plank Bridge technique, bending his body backward as if it had snapped, then rolling along the ground to dive under a sturdy, solid Eight Immortals Table.
Bang! The heavy Eight Immortals Table was smashed to pieces.
Zhao Youwei, however, came out unscathed. Without wasting a word, he leapt up and bolted straight for the exit.
A brutish, ugly man gave a sinister grin. “Where do you think you’re going?”
He blocked Zhao Youwei’s path in an instant. Seeing this, Zhao Youwei’s eyes flickered, and with a raised hand he hurled a ghost-expelling talisman.
The ugly brute scoffed, striking out with his palm down to meet it. But he wasn’t a ghost, he was a demon. The talisman had no effect at all!
And this was the cruel reality of facing a den swarming with demons, monsters, and spirits, you never knew what the hell you were fighting!
“Stay right where you are! Ahh, what the hell!?”
The ugly brute had originally wanted to show off and spit out a few grandiose words in front of the crowd. But the moment the words left his lips, a cloud of white powder flared up before his eyes and then his eyeballs burned with stabbing pain. There had been no sign of a spell, no ripple of aura at all, because the bastard had just thrown lime powder.
Zhao Youwei didn’t dare linger. Seizing the moment, he rushed past the blinded brute, fighting desperately for a single sliver of life.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Suddenly, Zhao Youwei’s face went pale, and with an expression of agony, he dropped to one knee.
It was a soul attack! In this hall full of demons and monsters, each possessed powerful arts, which made them an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Zhao Youwei might have many tricks, but in the end, it was nothing more than a struggle to survive.
The ugly brute’s skin split open, revealing a ferocious beast’s head beneath, like a wolf from the mountains. At this time, green light burst from his eyes!
“Die!” With a shrill scream, his five fingers curved into hooked claws, and he ripped straight across Zhao Youwei’s chest!
Shhhhk!
But to his surprise, Zhao Youwei did not die. Instead, white smoke began to rise from the demon’s arm!
The crowd’s vision blurred for a moment, and then they saw a yellow talisman coiled tightly around the beast’s arm!
As for Young Master Chu, he had vanished without a trace. In his place now stood a plain-looking, thin young Daoist priest.
