Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 755 - 754: Can Take Away
"Then I’ll trouble Lady Nuwa for her assistance," Chen Nuo said.
One wasn’t sincerely seeking to cure an ailment, and the other wasn’t truly ill, yet the treatment was still administered.
After the Healing Arts were completed, Nuwa withdrew her spell and looked towards Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper Chen, how do you feel? Is there any improvement?"
Chen Nuo wasn’t really troubled by any problems to begin with, so of course, he wouldn’t have any issues now. He nodded along with Nuwa’s words, "It’s almost resolved."
Nuwa let out a sigh of relief, "As long as you’re fine. I was worried I might not be able to cure Shopkeeper Chen’s throat."
Chen Nuo smiled but did not reply.
That throbbing sensation occurred only for a moment, and afterwards, it did not return.
Chen Nuo even began to doubt whether that brief palpitation was a figment of his imagination. He wondered if it was Nuwa who had attracted him, or rather her motions.
Thus, he wanted to confirm if he truly felt that throbbing sensation. However, in the subsequent exchange with Nuwa, he discovered that the sensation really did occur just for an instant and never reappeared.
After Nuwa finished treating Chen Nuo, she glanced at the desserts on the table and sighed quietly. As she was about to sit down again, Chen Nuo stopped her.
"Lady Nuwa, I just remembered that I have something else to attend to, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to continue hosting you. Why don’t you take the desserts with you?" Chen Nuo suggested.
"Oh, would that be alright?" Nuwa paused. She thought she would have to struggle to finish the desserts, not expecting to be able to take them home.
This was, of course, intentional on Chen Nuo’s part. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Even though they were Immortals, an Immortal’s stomach was not a bottomless pit. Unless they used spells to accelerate digestion, the amount of food consumed varied from person to person.
The table was indeed overcrowded with sweets, so it was normal for Nuwa not to be able to finish them all.
Chen Nuo was no devil; there was no need to stubbornly insist on someone finishing everything on the spot. It was sufficient to sample the flavors, especially since making the desserts was a spur-of-the-moment idea.
"Of course, you may take them home. I summoned you abruptly to taste test the desserts without prior notice, which was my fault. Consider these desserts as an apology," he said.
Chen Nuo spoke with eloquence, yet everyone knew that in this situation, it was Nuwa who was reaping the benefit.
Nuwa truly did not expect that suddenly being summoned by Chen Nuo would not only lead to a delightful meal of sweets but also to take-away treats. What was happening today—could it be that the merit points from mending the sky were being accounted for today?
"Shopkeeper Chen, what matter do you have? Is it urgent?" Out of politeness, Nuwa asked.
"It’s not a big problem. Earlier, Sun Wukong made a little mistake, which I have already punished him for. It’s about time I checked whether he has repented," Chen Nuo explained.
Since this was about teaching his disciple, it was not something she could interfere with. Nuwa nodded and then left.
The moment she returned to her cave abode, Xuan Feng came up to her, complaining with a touch of resentment, "My Lady, you’re really too much. When Shopkeeper Chen called for you, why didn’t you bring me along? If Third Holy Mother or someone else had been there, I could have offered some assistance."
"Help with what, creating more trouble?" Nuwa raised a willowy brow and gave Xuan Feng a sidelong glance.
The two had served in their respective roles for many years, and Xuan Feng could tell that although Nuwa’s words carried annoyance, she was not actually angry.
On the contrary, she seemed quite pleased. Thus, after Nuwa had walked past, Xuan Feng followed in her footsteps.
"My lady, tell me," Sun Wukong teased, "when Shopkeeper Chen called you to his establishment, what did he talk to you about? Could it be he wants to enter a life-time commitment with you?"
Goddess Nuwa gave Xuan Feng a white look, but she felt quite pleased with the conjecture, "What’s on your mind every day? Chaos Residence is a restaurant. What do you think I went there for?"
Xuan Feng pursed his lips, then as a thought struck him, he said, "But that’s not right either. Didn’t you just go there a couple of days ago? Now he’s invited you over for a meal again. In my view, Shopkeeper Chen does indeed have you in his heart."
Nuwa tugged the corner of her lip into a smile. In fact, aside from Xuan Feng’s flattering words, she did have such a feeling, especially since Chen Nuo had called her over alone today.
Although it was to eat dessert, that dessert was a new creation and he had only invited her. If she were to say there were no implications, Nuwa wouldn’t believe it.
She just didn’t know if these ’implications’ meant considering her with a romantic interest or simply as a friend with whom to share the treat.
Regardless of the intent, it meant that her relationship with Shopkeeper Chen was already very close.
After all, compared to most people, like Yang Chan and Fairy Baihua, she was already very content. At least, among the immortals she knew who were fond of Chen Nuo, her relationship with him was the best.
Nuwa, in a cheerful mood, said to Xuan Feng, "I brought back some dessert from Chaos Residence. Shopkeeper Chen made it specially for me. However, since he had other matters to attend to, he let me take it home to eat. I’m in such a good mood today that I’ll reward you with one."
Xuan Feng said with surprise, "Really? Lady Nuwa, you are truly the best. May all creatures pray that you and Shopkeeper Chen can cultivate a successful relationship, so that I might one day be able to enjoy desserts without having to pay, and with no limits at that!"
You wish," Nuwa shattered Xuan Feng’s beautiful dream, "Shopkeeper Chen is clear about boundaries. His disciple Sun Wukong has to pay for his meals, let alone you."
Xuan Feng stuck out his tongue, "A guy can dream, right? But my lady, it seems like you are anticipating a successful cultivation with Shopkeeper Chen. You didn’t refute me just now."
Nuwa glared at him with phoenix eyes, "It seems you’ve gotten too bold, daring to tease even me. You won’t be having any dessert then."
Upon hearing he might not get the dessert, Xuan Feng promptly clamped his mouth shut.
Xuan Feng was the chatty type, and only the prospect of getting his hands on the dessert had made him control his chatter.
Nuwa took the desserts she had stored earlier out of her space and laid them on the table. She hadn’t thought there were that many, but upon taking them out, they covered the whole table.
And she had just eaten several of them herself not long ago. She hadn’t realized there were so many left. How much had Shopkeeper Chen made?
"This many?" Xuan Feng exclaimed with surprise. "How much did Shopkeeper Chen make, exactly?"
"I ate a few myself," said Nuwa, "and I was nearly full—it was almost to the point where I had to bear with a full belly to eat more. Shopkeeper Chen said he had something else to do, so he let me..."
Nuwa cut herself off halfway.
Thinking back, she remembered Shopkeeper Chen hadn’t mentioned having other things to do while she was eating. Why then, did he suddenly have other things?
Could it be that Shopkeeper Chen noticed she was getting full and had made up having other matters as an excuse?
The more Nuwa thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Shopkeeper Chen was a meticulous person and must have noticed her expressions and made up an excuse to have something to do.
"My lady, what’s the matter? Why did you stop talking all of a sudden?" Xuan Feng didn’t catch on at all, and she was still waiting for Nuwa to continue, but Nuwa had stopped.
Nuwa felt a sweet sensation in her heart. Shopkeeper Chen was handsome, powerful in mana, attentive, and considerate—a man of such excellence was rare among the immortals.
