Chapter 694: Chapter 693: The Ignorant Xuan Feng

Chen Nuo smiled, "I must admit, that was rather thoughtless of me. I should have closed the door and pondered the dessert flavors at my own pace. Once I’ve developed some new items, I will certainly find others to taste them. Please rest assured, Lady Nuwa."

"I was joking," Nuwa said immediately.

Chen Nuo quickly followed, "I was joking, too."

"Any requirements for the location?"

Seeing that Nuwa and Chen Nuo’s relationship had progressed to the point of joking around, Yang Chan felt incredibly envious. She wondered if there was any way she could be of help to Chen Nuo.

Without a sound from Chen Nuo, naturally, he had no idea what Yang Chan was thinking at the moment. He assumed Yang Chan was just asking out of curiosity.

"Not many requirements. The place should be large and close to the Heavenly Realm. After all, although I welcome customers of all kinds, as you know, my main clientele consists of divine officials," he replied.

Yang Chan nodded, silently taking note of Chen Nuo’s points. She resolved to start looking for the ideal location as soon as she returned, determined to assist Chen Nuo in finding what he needed. If she didn’t take action now, she feared she might lose her chance altogether.

"These requirements aren’t too difficult. I think there should be similar locations in or around the Heavenly Realm," said Yang Chan, barely concealing her eagerness.

"However, it has to be a private or unclaimed territory within the Heavenly Realm. Otherwise, the Jade Emperor might cause trouble. If possible, I’d keep an eye out for Shopkeeper Chen," she offered.

Chen Nuo politely responded, "Then I thank the Third Holy Mother in advance for keeping an eye out for me."

Xuan Feng, seeing Yang Chan as if she had gained the upper hand with Chen Nuo, hastily said, "Shopkeeper Chen, if you’re looking for a place, you should talk to our Goddess Nuwa. Our cave abode is quite spacious, and it borders the Heavenly Realm without being part of it. Isn’t that just perfect?"

"Our place is not suitable," Nuwa said immediately. It wasn’t out of modesty or unwillingness; it was because of her status.

Setting aside whether Chen Nuo would agree or merely exchange pleasantries, even if the shop were to open in her abode, very few Immortal Officials would dare to go there.

Her authority stood firm, and those officials wouldn’t even dare to glance her way from afar, let alone visit her cave abode for tea and desserts. The whole idea was implausible.

"Why wouldn’t it be suitable? The requirements Shopkeeper Chen mentioned earlier seem tailor-made for our cave abode," Xuan Feng said, completely oblivious as she counted off on her fingers to Chen Nuo and Nuwa.

"Look, Shopkeeper Chen mentioned needing a large space—our cave abode spans thousands of acres, so that’s plenty big, right? Besides, only you, Goddess, and I reside there—it’s perfect. As for proximity to the Heavenly Realm, well, that’s self-explanatory. And for the third point, this is your territory, Goddess. You’re the queen; no one can do anything about Shopkeeper Chen’s shop. It’s so suitable," she argued.

Xuan Feng’s points were sound and admirable, but her thoughts were still far too simplistic.

Chen Nuo glanced at Nuwa, and in that eye contact, they understood each other’s thoughts. It was just Xuan Feng being too naive, only considering the tangible aspects.

"Ahem, Xuan Feng, I appreciate the recommendation, but that won’t be necessary," Chen Nuo said.

Xuan Feng, who had been tallying up the favorable conditions of Nuwa’s cave abode for a potential shop in hopes of furthering Nuwa and Chen Nuo’s relationship, instantly shut her mouth upon hearing Chen Nuo’s words. Then, looking at Chen Nuo and then at Yang Chan, she suddenly became irritated.

"What do you mean, Shopkeeper Chen? You dismiss such great conditions from us, just to wait for the Third Holy Mother to scout locations for you?" she exclaimed.

"Can’t I look for a place myself?" Chen Nuo said, somewhat exasperated.

"Then why don’t you want this place, with such good conditions?" asked Xuan Feng, "Or is it that you simply do not want to owe our Lady Nuwa any favors? Are you trying to sever ties with her?"

"No, it’s not that I don’t want to owe her favors, nor is it that." Chen Nuo massaged his forehead, finding that Xuan Feng’s knack for making trouble was getting stronger by the day.

"It’s not an issue with Shopkeeper Chen, it’s our issue," said Nuwa.

Xuan Feng didn’t understand, "How did it become our issue? I don’t think we have any problems. Such great terms he has been offered, and yet he refuses. Does that make any sense?"

"It really is our problem," Nuwa pointed to herself, "Those divine officials are afraid of me. If the shop were opened inside our cave abode, do you think Shopkeeper Chen’s store could succeed?"

Xuan Feng fell silent, admitting that she hadn’t considered this before, but if this was the case, it indeed made sense.

"But I don’t think they are afraid of you. How could they be, when you’re so beautiful? It’s because your status is too revered, they dare not approach you," said Xuan Feng.

"There’s no difference," Nuwa responded. Regardless of what those people thought, there would definitely not be a gathering of divine officials where she was present.

They all instinctively dared not interact with those above them, Nuwa could understand, but because of this, Chen Nuo’s store really couldn’t be set up at her place.

"I want to thank you all for considering my store," Chen Nuo said. "However, what considerations a store needs, only someone like me, who runs a store, can truly understand. None of you are businesspeople, so I’ll trouble you no further with my concerns."

"I wasn’t considering it for you," Xuan Feng, still a bit unhappy about being refused despite Chen Nuo’s explanation for not using Nuwa’s territory, huffed and then added, "I was considering it for our Lady Nuwa."

Nuwa was about to say goodbye to Chen Nuo when she suddenly heard Xuan Feng speak to her like this, her face flushed, and she glared at Xuan Feng, "What are you saying?"

"I’m just speaking the truth," said Xuan Feng quietly,

though without the same commanding presence as before.

"Speaking every thought aloud. If you keep this up, I won’t take you with me when I leave the cave abode, even using mana," Nuwa said.

"I was wrong, I’m sorry." Upon hearing that she might not be taken along on future outings, Xuan Feng quickly apologized.

"Sorry, Shopkeeper Chen, for the lack of discipline. It’s a laughing matter," Nuwa quickly said to Chen Nuo. "I’ll take my leave now. Should you have any matter in which you need my assistance, I will surely come to help."

Given that this wasn’t the first or second time Nuwa had shown a lack of discipline, Chen Nuo had become accustomed to it and smiled while nodding his head, exchanging pleasantries with Nuwa, "If I need anything, I will definitely seek you out. I just hope that Lady Nuwa won’t find me bothersome then."

"How could I? I would be delighted if you sought me out," Nuwa smiled. The more often, the better; otherwise, just visiting Chaos Residence as a guest, she wondered when her relationship with Chen Nuo might improve.

After sending off Nuwa and Xuan Feng, Yang Chan also prepared to say goodbye.

Having come with the intent to apologize, yet having stayed for a meal and such delicious dessert, she felt a bit embarrassed as she left.

She had originally planned to apologize and leave immediately, but somehow she had stayed in a daze—how awkward.

"Sorry, Shopkeeper Chen, I really didn’t intend to come over for a meal," Yang Chan explained to Chen Nuo.
