Chapter 448: Chapter 448: Making a Bet, Nuwa Comes to Find Sun Wukong

"Such a tiny kid and yet so clever," Sun Wukong said, before he began to praise Chen Nuo, "It’s no wonder you’re my master. Even adopting a child has resulted in one full of wit and mischief."

Tian Peng couldn’t help but criticize, "You really find any reason to praise your master."

"My master is simply the best!" Sun Wukong repeated.

Tian Peng was speechless, then raised another concern with Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper, the Fairy Baihua doesn’t seem to be tight-lipped. What if the whole Heavenly Court finds out?"

"Just let it be," Chen Nuo said nonchalantly, "I run a restaurant and am not under the jurisdiction of the Heavenly Court. Even if I had seven or eight more children, what could they do to me?"

"They might not be able to do anything," Tian Peng considered the few goddesses who were fond of Chen Nuo, "but... if this gets out, several people might be heartbroken because of you."

"Heartbroken because of me?" Chen Nuo didn’t understand what Tian Peng meant.

"I’ve just got another kid, that’s all. What’s there to be heartbroken about? Who would be heartbroken because of me? Could it be that having another kid would affect the taste of my cooking?"

"It’s not about the cooking," Tian Peng sighed, "Shopkeeper, you are such a clever person, how can you be so slow on this kind of matter?"

"What?" Chen Nuo glanced at Sun Wukong, still clueless even after hearing Tian Peng’s thoughts.

Tian Peng’s thoughts were filled with envy, and Chen Nuo couldn’t understand what he was being envious about.

"You blockhead, just say what you want to say directly. My master doesn’t like beating around the bush," Sun Wukong said.

"It’s Nuwa, Fairy Baihua, and Yang Jian’s sister, Yang Chan," Tian Peng revealed, "You suddenly having such a big kid, Fairy Baihua might be fine with it, but if she tells others, then all three goddesses might be heartbroken."

"They fancy you, Master," Sun Wukong explained.

"Them?" Chen Nuo was taken aback, aware of Nuwa’s affection but clueless about the other two.

It seemed to him that he had treated them as nothing more than regular customers or at most as ordinary friends. He was puzzled about why the other two would have affections for him.

"Master, you really didn’t notice?" Sun Wukong asked.

"I truly didn’t," Chen Nuo’s expression was utterly sincere, "Did I do something that led them to misunderstand?"

"Master, you don’t need to do anything," Sun Wukong said with an exaggerated tone, "Just standing there is enough to make them swoon."

Chen Nuo gave Sun Wukong a sideways glance, "It’s not that exaggerated."

"Then how about a bet if you don’t believe me?" Sun Wukong suggested.

"You’ve grown bold, daring to bet with your master?" Chen Nuo looked at Sun Wukong with a serious expression.

"Master," Sun Wukong complained, "You don’t believe anything I say, so I have to put it this way, please don’t use your status as a master to pressure me."

"Alright, tell me, what’s the wager?" Chen Nuo’s expression lightened.

"I bet from today onwards, those goddesses, if they don’t go looking for you, they’ll come to me to inquire," Sun Wukong stated solemnly, "Master, if I win, you have to cook a dish for me, alright?"

"Alright," Chen Nuo agreed generously, "But what if you lose?"

"If I lose," Sun Wukong thought for a moment, realizing he didn’t have anything on him to wager, his eyes darted around before he said, "If I lose, I’ll apologize to those female Immortals every day, admitting it was me who made up those stories about them behind their backs."

Chen Nuo thought about it, and considering Sun Wukong’s temperament, indeed, that was the best punishment. So she nodded, "Okay, I’ll take that bet."

After making the bet with Chen Nuo, Sun Wukong and Tian Peng left the mortal world and returned to the Heavenly Court.

Even though he had spent a day in the mortal world, only an hour had gone by in the Heavenly Court. He was confident about winning; Chen Nuo didn’t give it another thought and immediately put the matter out of her mind.

"What?! Are you, are you serious?"

"I’m also not entirely sure. I was about to go to the Chaos Pavilion to buy you a milk tea, but before I even got there, I heard the conversation between Fairy Baihua and her maid. I came back without even buying the milk tea," Xuan Feng declared earnestly.

Nuwa took a step back, no, she could not believe it. It had only been a few days since she last saw Chen Nuo, how could he suddenly have a child? That couldn’t possibly be true.

"My Lady, please don’t be sad. This news is just hearsay," Xuan Feng tried to console Nuwa, "Who knows where Fairy Baihua heard it from. She might have just been joking with her maid."

"No, she descended to the mortal world twice today," Nuwa said.

"My Lady, how did you know about that?" Xuan Feng asked in confusion, "I’ve seen you staying indoors these past few days without coming out. How could you be so well-informed?"

"Although I haven’t left the house, I have ways of finding out about external affairs. Chen Nuo is in the mortal world."

Nuwa’s fingers trembled. She had just come to terms with her feelings, preparing to find Chen Nuo to explain things clearly when she unexpectedly learned of the news that Chen Nuo had a child.

"Fairy Baihua is in charge of the flowers in the mortal world. Maybe she descended for official business," Xuan Feng said, grasping at straws.

Nuwa’s fingers slowly dug into the corner of a table. Fairy Baihua must have seen something in the mortal world; otherwise, she wouldn’t talk carelessly about Chen Nuo, not even in jest, unless there was some basis to it.

"My Lady, please don’t worry. Why don’t we descend to the mortal world and take a look at Shopkeeper Chen’s place ourselves? Seeing is believing," Xuan Feng suggested.

Nuwa shook her head; although she possessed divine skills that allowed her to understand hearts, these skills were of no use against Chen Nuo. Even if she confronted Chen Nuo face to face, she wouldn’t be able to find out anything, and it might even throw her own mind and spirit into chaos.

She had already lost face in front of Chen Nuo once. She couldn’t afford to do so a second time.

"Otherwise..." Xuan Feng continued to offer advice on the side, "Otherwise, let’s visit Sun Wukong tomorrow. Sun Wukong is Shopkeeper Chen’s only disciple; he’s sure to know about it."

Nuwa lifted her head; this was indeed a good idea, "So be it, it has to be this way."

Waiting was interminable, and with concerns weighing on her heart, Nuwa spent the whole night with eyes wide open.

The next day, Nuwa got up from bed and called Xuan Feng, "Don’t sleep any longer, let’s go find Sun Wukong."

Xuan Feng opened his eyes, rubbed them, and yawned while getting up from bed, "Are we going this early? Could it be Sun Wukong hasn’t even woken up yet?"

"Since we’re going to find him, we must wake up earlier than he does," Nuwa stated, "Hurry and wash up simply; we’re leaving right now."

Xuan Feng washed up at lightning speed, transformed into his original form, and brought Nuwa to the Heavenly Court.

Outside the South Heavenly Gate, Immortal Officials were already queuing up in droves in front of the Chaos Pavilion, waking up this early just to savor the Pavilion’s milk tea.

Nuwa arrived at the Chaos Pavilion swiftly. She wasn’t planning to buy milk tea, so she simply stood outside the door.
