Chapter 445: Chapter 445: Child, Threat, Amusing

"Ah?" Tian Peng reacted belatedly, "Mr. Monkey, does that mean this Fairy Baihua, she... she likes the Shopkeeper?"

"Absolutely," Sun Wukong laughed, "The charm of my master is indeed great, everyone seems to like him."

"Well, that’s understandable," Tian Peng sighed, looking at his own belly. Though it was still a foot away from the table, his belly was about to touch the table, "With my current appearance, who could possibly like me?"

Sun Wukong sized Tian Peng up and down and said unapologetically, "Indeed, with your looks, no one will like you."

Tian Peng lowered his head in dejection, "I don’t want to be like this either, but I really can’t control my belly. Moreover, I am a Marshal after all, if I didn’t have this physique, it would be hard to command respect from others."

"I didn’t say anything about you, just look at yourself." Sun Wukong hadn’t expected a simple comment to make Tian Peng feel so wronged, so he comforted him, "My master, whether in terms of demeanor or appearance, is unparalleled, not just you, even I don’t measure up to him."

"I’m just reflecting a bit," Tian Peng felt a bit better after being consoled.

"So, Mr. Monkey, shouldn’t we go ask the Shopkeeper? What if Fairy Baihua spreads the word?"

Sun Wukong had indeed thought about this issue, but he knew his master must have thought about it, too. And since his master had considered it, there was no need for him to worry.

"My master has his considerations regarding these matters, we don’t need to trouble ourselves," Sun Wukong said.

Tian Peng was still quite curious, he tried to contain his curiosity but didn’t want to go alone, so he tried to coax Sun Wukong into checking it out together.

"Mr. Monkey, aren’t you even a little bit curious about the kid?" Tian Peng asked, "The Shopkeeper, although very kind, doesn’t seem like someone who would be fond of children. Besides, there’s a child staying with him."

Sun Wukong was indeed very curious. Prompted by Tian Peng, he felt like going to take a look.

"Now that you mention it, I am quite curious. The child looks about seven or eight years old. The Fairy only glanced through the window and didn’t even wait for the kid to wake up. We don’t know if the child is human or a demon."

Tian Peng was already curious, but Sun Wukong’s words made him even more impatient, "Then, Mr. Monkey, let’s go have a look."

The two of them discussed and used their spiritual power to transport themselves to Chen Nuo’s small courtyard.

It was winter in the human world at the time, everything outside was a vast expanse of white, except for this small courtyard, which still looked like spring, where not even snowflakes could fall.

There were various vegetables planted in the courtyard, and Tian Peng exclaimed, "This courtyard is wonderful. When I tidied it up, I didn’t notice anything, but coming back now, it really feels like a home. The Shopkeeper is incredible, turning such a large courtyard into this."

Sun Wukong entered through the gate, following the path and looking around as he walked.

Although he often communicated with Chen Nuo through voice transmission, this was his first visit to this courtyard. The courtyard was large, so much so that without the surrounding walls, one might not even realize it was a courtyard.

There were rapeseed flowers planted to the south and sunflowers to the north, all in full bloom, a bright yellow that was quite pleasing to the eye.

"My master indeed is impressive," Sun Wukong said with admiration.

He and Tian Peng continued forward, passing the rapeseed and sunflower beds, up to the area planted with soybeans and peanuts.

Although these were not as conspicuous, they too were a lush green, which lifted the spirits substantially, making one forget the fatigue of sitting in the milk tea shop all day.

Further ahead was the main entrance. Sun Wukong thought Chen Nuo would be inside the house, so he and Tian Peng walked briskly toward it, just about to open the door when a crisp voice stopped them.

"Who are you?"

Sun Wukong turned around, and a little girl who came up to his waist was staring at him and Tian Peng on guard, her eyes large.

With thick eyebrows and long eyelashes, styled in a ponytail, she was wearing a long shirt and trousers, which looked very similar to what his master wore; it was obviously given to her by Chen Nuo.

"Kid, what’s your name?" Tian Peng didn’t bother to observe the little girl and asked directly.

He Xi didn’t answer. These two men had suddenly appeared in the yard, and they looked very strange. One was covered in hair, resembling a humanoid monkey, and he was also very tall; she even had to look up to talk to him.

The other one was even weirder; standing there, she felt as though she had gone from day to night. If it weren’t for the sunshine behind, she would have believed it was the kind of darkness where you couldn’t see your own hand in front of you.

"Why isn’t this kid talking?" Tian Peng gave her a curious glance, "Could she be mute?"

"Idiot!" Sun Wukong knocked on Tian Peng’s head, "Didn’t she just ask who we are?"

"Oh, right, I totally forgot." Tian Peng rubbed his head.

He Xi found this scene quite amusing and couldn’t help but laugh, but then remembered she shouldn’t be laughing, so she quickly put on a serious face and said, "You enter my yard without greeting and I have to ask for your names, but instead, you ask for mine."

"Kid, such a tone, do you know who I am?" Tian Peng asked the child, who was less than half his height, with a smile.

He Xi huffed, "That’s why I’m asking who you are because I don’t know. Are you going to tell me or not? If you don’t, I’ll have to be rude to you!"

"Ha ha!" Tian Peng found this even more amusing, "You little radish head, planning to be rude to me? Well, I’d like to see exactly how this little radish head is going to be rude to me."

"Just you wait!" He Xi huffed, and suddenly a button appeared in her hand.

Sun Wukong sensed something wrong and quickly said, "Wait..."

Tian Peng hadn’t noticed He Xi’s action; he was still waiting to see how the child would be rude to him, "What’s up, Mr. Monkey? Don’t worry about her, I want to see how she’s planning to be rude to us!"

As He Xi’s hand was about to press the button, Sun Wukong quickly grabbed her hand, not forgetting to slap Tian Peng on the back, "Ay, I call you an idiot because you never catch on!"

"What’s the problem?" Tian Peng felt wronged, "She’s just a big kid, what could she possibly do to us? I’ve already checked, she’s just an ordinary child with no spiritual power at all."

"Did you forget who’s raising her? She’s being looked after by my master. Even if she has no spiritual power, my master would definitely give her something for self-defense," Sun Wukong said. "Can’t you be a little less foolish? I always have to explain everything to you."

Tian Peng then thought about it and indeed, it made sense, so he scratched his head, "Heh, I just forgot about that."

Listening to the two men’s conversation, He Xi asked, "Master?"

"Ah yes," Sun Wukong said. "The man who took you in is my master."

"You’re saying Chen is your master?" He Xi looked at Sun Wukong skeptically, "Why don’t I believe that at all?"

"Hey, you little radish head, so unreceptive, huh?" Tian Peng was quite displeased at being underestimated by a kid, and he said to He Xi.
