Chapter 443: Chapter 443 The Beginning of Making up Lies

Taking advantage of the noon hour, Chen Nuo settled He Xi and then transmitted his voice to Fairy Baihua, asking her to teach him the divine skill of rapid plant growth.

If it had been someone else, Fairy Baihua naturally would not have felt comfortable, but since it was Chen Nuo, Fairy Baihua had no reservations.

Chen Nuo wasn’t just anyone, he himself had powerful mana, and besides, the divine skill for rapid plant growth really had no other use than for planting vegetables, so she felt assured in entrusting it to him.

After passing on the spell, Fairy Baihua looked at the two new rooms that had appeared and asked, "Shopkeeper Chen, did you just build these? I remember they weren’t here the last time I came."

"They were just built," Chen Nuo said.

"I see your house in front is already quite big, enough for you to live comfortably alone. Why did you want to build two more rooms? What are they for?" Fairy Baihua asked as she walked toward them.

The room in front belonged to He Xi. The windows were glass, and He Xi hadn’t drawn the curtains when he went to sleep.

As Fairy Baihua walked over, she asked, "Whose child is this?"

"Mine," Chen Nuo jokingly said.

Fairy Baihua was shocked, her pupils contracted and she covered her mouth with her hand, feeling a coldness in her heart for no apparent reason, "Yours? He’s so big, when did this happen?"

"A few years ago," Chen Nuo answered.

Fairy Baihua closely examined He Xi’s face, unable to tell if it was the sunlight dazzling her or some psychological effect, but she somehow saw a resemblance to Chen Nuo in the child.

"His, his, his mother?"

"She passed away," Chen Nuo replied, finding Fairy Baihua’s reaction amusing and not minding teasing her further.

"Passed away?"

Somehow, Fairy Baihua felt relieved upon hearing this, thinking she might have to meet Chen Nuo’s wife, but then learned she had already passed away, "How, how did she pass away?"

"Illness," he said.

Fairy Baihua felt something wasn’t quite right. Chen Nuo’s mana was so strong, and even if he couldn’t heal, with so many divine officials in the Heavenly Court, wouldn’t it have been an easy matter to cure her?

Seeing through Fairy Baihua’s thoughts, Chen Nuo concocted another lie, "I hadn’t opened my shop back then."

"I see," she said.

If that was the case, then it made sense. No matter how strong Chen Nuo’s mana was, it was just that—strong mana. He had no healing abilities.

"Then, his mother, was she a mortal?"

"A mortal," Chen Nuo nodded. He was about to explain, but explaining too much could lead to slip-ups, so he added, "You’re asking too many questions."

"Sorry, I was just asking. If you don’t like it, I won’t ask anymore," Fairy Baihua quickly apologized.

Yet she felt a little colder inside, realizing that someone as outstanding as Chen Nuo had already been married and even had a daughter.

But then again, she thought, it made sense. He was so exceptional and good-looking, naturally, many would like him.

"Thank you for your divine skill; I’ve learned it already," Chen Nuo said.

In the silence that followed, Chen Nuo had already mastered the divine skill; he then moved his hands to form seals, and the seeds he had spread on the ground quickly sprouted and grew.

Watching Chen Nuo casting spells, Fairy Baihua praised him, "As expected of Shopkeeper Chen, to be able to use my divine skill so skillfully in just such a short time. Even I took a long time to learn it when I first practiced this divine skill."

"I’m afraid I’m teaching grandma to suck eggs here, Fairy. Don’t laugh at me," Chen Nuo said modestly.

"Not at all, it’s in front of you where I’m teaching grandma to suck eggs," Fairy Baihua smiled, "Now that I’ve learned the divine skill, I’ll take my leave."

"What would you like as compensation, Fairy? As long as it’s within my power, I’ll comply," Chen Nuo asked.

Fairy Baihua shook her head. "I helped you to repay a past favor. Awakening a divine skill is such a big favor, it’s not something that my little divine skills can offset."

"Where’s that coming from, Fairy? We should keep our accounts clear."

Although Fairy Baihua’s divine skills awakening was mainly due to her own cooking, at the time they had indeed paid the proper compensation. Chen Nuo didn’t think that just because someone had awakened their divine skills, they could endlessly ask others for help.

Remembering what Fairy Baihua said last time about wanting him to bring her two cups of milk tea, maybe he should offer milk tea again this time. Chen Nuo said to Fairy Baihua, "How about this, Fairy, I’ll still use milk tea as a substitute, or whatever you’d like to drink. I’ve already talked to Sun Wukong; whatever you want to drink, just tell him."

"That would be perfect."

Finally, something cheerful. Fairy Baihua smiled at Chen Nuo, "That milk tea shop is really booming. I have to wait so long in line when I want a drink. With that, I’ll take my leave."

After leaving Chen Nuo’s place, Fairy Baihua went to the Chaos Pavilion milk tea shop in the Heavenly Court. Outside, the place was packed with people, with a line going from the South Heavenly Gate to the main hall.

Sun Wukong was still there making milk tea. Seeing Fairy Baihua coming, he waved at her, "Fairy Baihua, come on, just tell old Sun what you want to drink."

The divine officials waiting in line were somewhat displeased, "Didn’t she already get two cups this morning? Why is she here again?"

"She helped my master. What can you do besides run your mouth? This is what my master told me to reserve for her!" Wukong said, baring his teeth at the divine official, "Go on, shoo, you gonna drink or not? If not, beat it."

The divine official had been waiting in line for quite a while, and even though Wukong’s words were somewhat embarrassing, he didn’t feel he could just walk away.

So, with a forced smile, "What are you talking about, Chef Wukong? I was just asking. Why the hot temper?"

"Old Sun is naturally hot-headed and not easily provoked, you know that," Sun Wukong huffed, and then asked Fairy Baihua, "The drink names are all listed above. What do you want to drink? Just tell old Sun."

"I’ll have a cup of Honey Peach Sparkler," Fairy Baihua said.

"Alright, Fairy, hold on, it’ll be ready in no time." Sun Wukong turned around, took a can of Flat Peach Soda, and poured it into a cup.

Honey Peach Sparkler was actually the same thing as Flat Peach Juice, but the milk tea shop needed a catchy name, so they changed it for the shop and added some fizz to it.

The drink didn’t require much preparation, and it was ready quickly. Sun Wukong poured the soda into the cup, sealed it, and handed it to Fairy Baihua, "Here you go, Fairy."

Fairy Baihua took the drink and turned to leave, then turned back again, "Chef Wukong, I have a question for you."

"Ask away."

"Do you know about Lady Chen?"

Sun Wukong was confused, unsure what Fairy Baihua meant by Lady Chen, "Which Lady Chen? Old Sun doesn’t recall such a person."

Fairy Baihua paused. Since Wukong was Chen Nuo’s disciple, he shouldn’t be unaware of this matter. She was about to speak when something occurred to her.

Sun Wukong once said in person, when Chen Nuo took him as a disciple, Chen Nuo had already set up shop. Chen Nuo mentioned his wife had passed away before the shop opened, so it wouldn’t be strange for Sun Wukong not to recognize her.

"Fairy, why leave your sentence unfinished? What about this Lady Chen? Don’t tell me my master has found me a new mother," said Wukong.

To prevent unnecessary misunderstandings, Fairy Baihua didn’t discuss Lady Chen’s matter with Sun Wukong in the shop. Shaking her head, she replied, "No matter, I was just asking casually. If you don’t know, then never mind."
