Chapter 39: Chapter 39 Awakening

The Bull Demon King and the Roc Demon King broke out in cold sweat; in the presence of such formidable beings, they dared not call themselves demon kings!

"Senior, you can just call me Little Bull," said the Bull Demon King as he wiped the false sweat from his forehead, smiling obsequiously.

Although he was the current Great Demon King, impressive and commanding, he had once been nothing more than a mount raised on Golden Turtle Island by the respected Saint Tongtian, and had to ingratiate himself with his senior brothers and sisters every day.

The Roc Demon King also came to his senses and said, "Senior, I’m Little Roc!"

Chen Nuo couldn’t help but feel amused as he watched two infamous demon kings behaving so respectfully before him.

"Since you’re friends with my disciple, there’s no need to be so formal!" Chen Nuo called out and then turned to Sun Wukong, "Wukong, why have you returned so early?"

"I was just missing you, Master," Sun Wukong scratched his head and chuckled sheepishly.

"Don’t pretend, you can’t fool me."

Having been seen through by Chen Nuo, Sun Wukong had no choice but to say helplessly, "It’s because I boasted to these two friends of mine about your supreme culinary skills in the Three Realms, so I brought them here today to broaden their horizons."

"Alright, but the rules can’t be broken!" Chen Nuo said.

Sun Wukong nodded his head cheekily, "Understood, Master, we’ve already agreed on that."

After speaking, Sun Wukong smoothly walked to the counter and picked up a menu.

"Brothers, take a look and see what you’d like to eat."

The Bull Demon King and the Roc Demon King, seeing the dishes listed on the menu, couldn’t help but feel their appetites stir.

After contemplating for a moment, the Bull Demon King said, "Senior, just a roasted lamb leg for Little Bull will do."

The Roc Demon King was a bit more restrained and quickly nodded, "I will have the same as Brother Bull."

After they ordered, Sun Wukong led the two demons in front of the crystal ball, and after hearing Sun Wukong’s description, the two demons were amazed and in awe.

"Who would have thought that there could be such a miraculous thing in this world!" they exclaimed, and then placed their hands on it, seeking to comprehend its power.

"What? It actually requires a drop of my vital blood?!" The Bull Demon King was shocked. Ordinary blood was one thing, but vital blood was not something trivial.

Normally, he had only a bit more than twenty drops of vital blood in his body, and losing any of it required a great effort to replenish.

The preciousness of vital blood was evident from the fact that from the twelve drops left by Pangu the Great God, the Twelve Ancestral Witches were born. Yet considering his own situation, the Bull Demon King gritted his teeth, stomped his foot, and ultimately took out a drop.

It was the Roc Demon King’s turn to step forward.

"Damn, it wants half of my mana?!" the Roc Demon King exclaimed. But like the Bull Demon King, he didn’t dare make a scene.

After submission, his originally handsome face turned deathly pale and his body began to sway as if it would collapse, making the bird seem very frail.

"Master, I’ll have one too, it’s been a long time since I’ve tasted your cooking." Sun Wukong then stuffed ten monkey hairs into the crystal ball as well.

Sun Wukong figured that as long as he was in Chaos Residence for a day, no matter what he did, the tuition had to be paid.

No wonder Mr. Monkey’s fur seemed sparser compared to other monkeys; it turned out the problem stemmed from here!

The observant Roc Demon King noticed something was amiss; paying like this every day seemed quite dangerous for Mr. Monkey.

"If Mr. Monkey’s master cooks like Mr. Monkey does, then I definitely won’t come again!" the two demons swore silently in their hearts.

However, when they saw the roasted lamb leg, their thoughts changed. As demon kings, they were accustomed to feasting on large amounts of meat, possessing large appetites, and eating a whole roasted sheep was nothing extraordinary for them.

But they had never seen a roasted lamb leg as exquisitely made and appealingly colored as this one; it was mouthwatering and the aroma was enticing.

"Go ahead and eat, the condiments are on the side," said Chen Nuo indifferently.

Even in the world of Journey to the West, the culinary culture was still lacking, with many seasonings unavailable.

"Thank you for the reminder, senior." Bull Demon King nodded.

However, Chen Nuo had forgotten to tell them how to dine elegantly, so the two demons reached out and grabbed the lamb legs and bit down. The next moment, they were astonished.

The lamb legs were plump and juicy, with tender and delicious flesh, perfectly grilled to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a slight spicy taste that made the demons unable to stop, smacking their lips with satisfaction.

Any reservations they had were cast aside as they started to indulge themselves.

"Pfft! Ignorant fools, embarrassing me!"

Sun Wukong sneered, skillfully putting on gloves before he began to eat with poise.

But he seemed to have forgotten how he had gone crazy the first time he ate this dish.

The lamb legs were nothing compared to the appetite of the two demons, who smacked their lips wistfully, all their previous doubts dissipated.

Mr. Monkey was absolutely right, with such culinary skills, one could indeed claim to be the top in the Three Realms, unmatched by anyone!

Bull Demon King thought to himself that the signboard of the restaurant was as Mr. Monkey said, truly living up to its name, and even seemed quite modest about it.

Chaos Residence, truly a great place!

"Senior, this is too much like a dream, isn’t it?" Roc Demon King said with a face full of admiration. His longing for the human world was not for any romantic affairs, but because he was an outright foodie.

Every time he went to the human world, he would eat until he could barely fly before returning. He had thought Mr. Monkey’s cooking was the apex of this world, only to realize today what it meant that ’your master is always your master’!

Strong, incredibly strong!

Roc Demon King felt that he didn’t even mind giving up half his mana, as long as he wasn’t drained completely, everything was negotiable!

However, the dishes Chen Nuo made were not just incredibly tasty, but their effects were not so simple either.

Suddenly, the expressions in the eyes of the two demons changed, and something appeared in their minds. Their bodies shook, and they quickly closed their eyes to safeguard their Primordial Spirits.

Sun Wukong was all too familiar with this scene, as he had experienced it many times over the past decade.

"Master, are they about to awaken?" Sun Wukong mumbled with a mouthful of lamb, his words unclear.

"Mhm." Chen Nuo nodded without a clear idea of what Divine Skills the two infamous Demon Kings might awaken to.

Getting the answer, Sun Wukong no longer paid attention and continued to ravage the feast. He wasn’t envious, as he had already had his awakening from this dish and wouldn’t have a second chance because of it.

After a while, finally...

"Ding, Bull Demon King has awakened the Divine Skill Explosive Shocking Rivers and Mountains after consuming the grilled lamb leg. Would you like to awaken it as well?"

"Ding, Roc Demon King has awakened the Divine Skill Feather Flash after consuming the grilled lamb leg. Would you like to awaken it as well?"

Two system notifications echoed one after another in Sun Wukong’s mind.

Explosive Shocking Rivers and Mountains: Capable of shaking everything, producing a variety of unimaginable effects.

Feather Flash: Shoot feathers and the body can instantly appear beside the shot feathers, ignoring any Laws.

All of a sudden, Chen Nuo tugged at the corner of his mouth. First, Tian Peng had come with a Three Realms version of Armament Color and Extreme Easy Skill. Now, here came a Three Realms version of the Tremor Tremor Fruit and Flying Thunder God Technique.

Interesting, the Bull Demon King’s skill was okay, but even if he synchronized with the Roc Demon King’s skill, where would he get feathers from?

"Transmit them all," Chen Nuo thought to himself.

Who cares if it’s useful or not, let’s just try it first.

After the inheritance, Chen Nuo realized that it didn’t have to be feathers; anything he held could be used, which made it a lot more convenient since it didn’t require marking.
