Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Sun Wukong Returns Home to Visit His Family

While waiting for the meal, I’ll also bring extra for myself. I suppose the Goddess wouldn’t be angry, after all, restoring vital blood is just a trivial matter for her.

If it runs out, just ask the Goddess to help!

Xuan Feng was all blissful, looking forward to tomorrow.

"Great Immortal Wukong, where are you off to?!" In the Heavenly Court Imperial Kitchen, God of Cookery saw Sun Wukong getting ready to leave and couldn’t help but raise his voice.

On hearing this, Sun Wukong stopped in his tracks and grinned, "My master asked me to see him, so I’m planning to return to Chaos Residence."

This was a secret notice he had just received from the Jade Emperor yesterday, and he had no idea how he managed to get this message.

But since it was his master’s request, whether true or false, he had to go back and check.

Sun Wukong’s eyes roved, wondering what on earth his master needed him for.

Chaos Residence? The God of Cookery’s eyes lit up. Wasn’t that where Chef Wukong’s master lived?

He had always heard Chef Wukong boast about his Master’s peerless culinary skills but had never had the chance to witness them. Why not take this opportunity to go and see?

Thinking this, the God of Cookery hurriedly opened his mouth, "Chef Wukong, could you take this Junior Deity to visit Shopkeeper Chen?"

The Kitchen God beside him, having heard what the God of Cookery said, was also very excited, "The Junior Deity feels the same!"

"I really want to taste what Shopkeeper Chen’s cooking skills are like!"

"The Junior Deity feels the same!"

"Only by seeing a more distant realm can we be more certain of the direction of our own culinary progress," the God of Cookery sincerely said.

"The Junior Deity feels the same!"

Sun Wukong scratched his head, pondered for a moment, and said, "Alright then!"

"Thank you, Chef Wukong!" Both deities said in unison.

"But if we all leave, who will look after the Imperial Kitchen?" Sun Wukong posed the crucial question.

Sun Wukong paused, then added, "The orders we get here every day aren’t small, you know!"

The two deities nodded; it indeed seemed to be the case.

After a long silence, the Kitchen God suddenly chuckled, "It’s not a small amount, but we aren’t of much use here, the dishes are all made by you, Chef Wukong. We are just here to assist."

What was clearly an embarrassing admission was made with a bit of pride and triumph by the Kitchen God. They were now virtually indistinguishable from idlers.

Initially, both he and Old Shi were quite resentful for being pushed aside, but after tasting Great Immortal Wukong’s culinary art, they felt like they were worthless. Though grudging, they began to diligently hone their cooking skills.

Now, they could easily and calmly admit that they were indeed useless!

"So, the one who really can’t leave is you, Chef Wukong!" the Kitchen God concluded with a chuckle.

It wouldn’t make much difference whether the two idlers left or stayed. If it weren’t for the Emperor keeping them to lend a hand, and also for the toil they contributed to the Flat Peach Banquet, they probably would have lost their hats by now.

A trace of embarrassment crossed Sun Wukong’s monkey face; it seemed there was sense in that.

Ever since the Flat Peach Banquet, all the daily meal requirements of the Heavenly Court Immortals were prepared by him. If he left, there would indeed be some major issues.

He pondered deeply for a moment.

"Got it!" Sun Wukong’s eyes brightened, and he slapped his thigh.

Divine Skills, Thousands of Threads and Strands!

Sun Wukong inwardly called out, activating his divine skills.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, three monkeys that looked exactly like Sun Wukong and dressed the same suddenly appeared out of thin air.

"Great Immortal Wukong, what is this..." the Two Deities said with faces full of astonishment.

Sun Wukong shook his head and casually said, "It’s nothing, just a small ability of mine."

The Two Deities’ lips twitched.

"A small ability? That’s clearly the Doppelganger Divine Power! Ordinary members of the Immortal Clans can’t master that!"

It seemed like everything that came out of Chef Wukong’s mouth was so casual. Is this being carefree or just showing off?

"The Imperial Kitchen is your responsibility today, work hard and don’t you dare slack off," Sun Wukong waved his hand around the Imperial Kitchen, pointing here and there as he delegated tasks.

"Yes!" The three Clone Monkeys watched earnestly and responded loudly.

The Food God and Stove God watched the scene with faces full of surprise.

The Food God, pointing at the busy clones, curiously asked, "Chef Wukong, can they really do a good job?"

Cooking is a meticulous task, after all!

"Of course." Sun Wukong said with a proud smile, hands crossed over his chest as he watched the organized clones, "These clones also possess my memories, which means whatever Old Sun knows, they know."

They can do that too! The Food God and Stove God’s mouth gaped open.

They know everything?! That doppelganger ability is way too awesome!

"Amazing!" blurted the Two Deities.

"Chef Wukong, if you have such incredible doppelganger divine power, why do you still cook yourself?" asked the Stove God, puzzled.

Wouldn’t sitting and sipping tea be more enjoyable?

If it were him, surely his original body would have wandered off somewhere by now.

Sun Wukong shook his head, saying earnestly, "Cooking is a pleasure for Old Sun, especially the moment when the dish is completed and plated. Besides, culinary skills are boundless, and hands-on experience is key to maximizing progress."

Even though his divine skills allowed the memories and sensations of the clone to be transferred back to the original body when the clone dissolved.

But it always felt like there was a barrier, not quite as genuine. For other matters it might be fine, but cooking is of utmost importance to him, and he takes it very seriously.

He wouldn’t have chosen this route today if he wasn’t in a rush to see his master.

After hearing Sun Wukong’s words, the Stove God blushed with embarrassment. No wonder Chef Wukong had such superb culinary skills—the difference in mindset was just too great!

However, after exchanging a look, the Food God and Stove God couldn’t help but give a wry smile. If Chef Wukong even had such divine powers, they were indeed useless, unworthy even of being his assistants.

They probably couldn’t even rival the efficiency of Chef Wukong’s clones when it came to preparing ingredients!

Seeing that everything was in order, Sun Wukong nodded, beckoning, "Let’s go! Old Sun will take you to appreciate Master Shopkeeper Chen’s cooking skills!"

"That would be great!" the Two Deities exclaimed with joyful smiles.

They had been eager to experience it for a long time!

They were already humbled by Chef Wukong’s culinary prowess, and they wondered just how skilled Master Shopkeeper Chen could be. No matter what, as long as the food was delicious, they would praise it to the skies and quietly remind themselves of their own worthlessness.

"However, my master has a quirky temper, and under no circumstances should you owe him money for the meal. Moreover, Old Sun won’t be able to cover the cost for you. You’ll need to work hard on your own," Sun Wukong said pensively, kindly warning them. His method of payment was monkey fur, meaning he could not be of much help to anyone but monkeys. It was up to Old Shi and Old Zao to fend for themselves now.

Sun Wukong mused with a touch of helplessness, having become quite familiar with the Two Deities after working together for so long. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Don’t worry about it!" the Food God and Stove God slapped their chests, their promises firm.

"We’ve been cooking together for so long, Chef Wukong, don’t you trust our integrity?"

The Food God and Stove God chuckled, "We’ll definitely pay for the meal promptly, no doubt about it!"

Being fellow chefs, they understood the hardships of the profession. If they tried to use Chef Wukong’s face to dine and dash, could they even consider themselves deities?

Wouldn’t they utterly lack conscience?

The Food God and Stove God internally scoffed at the idea. Even though they held low positions in the Heavenly Court, they were still immortals earning a stipend.

Could they really not afford a meal?!
