Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 144: Try and Die
"Follow me and work hard, learn well, and sooner or later, you too can attend a banquet of this caliber, although you may not be able to dismiss a nine-thousand-year Flat Peach like this handsome guy, at least you could mix your way into getting a six-thousand-year one," Tian Peng painted a big picture for Xiong Daoren in an instant.
Nowadays, Flat Peaches didn’t hold much appeal for him; if he wanted to eat a nine-thousand-year Flat Peach, he could really get his hands on one.
The series of beverages made from Flat Peaches by Shopkeeper Chen of Chaos Residence, those were all nine-thousand-year fruits!
Not only were their effects not inferior, but they also completely outclassed the regular consumption methods of Flat Peaches in terms of taste.
If he wanted to try them, why not just buy some?
"Yes, sir!" Xiong Daoren stood to attention, his fighting spirit soaring.
He would definitely not fail Peng’s expectations.
Even though he had awakened his Divine Skills, Xiong Daoren’s admiration for Tian Peng only grew stronger. Without Peng, there would be no Xiong Daoren today; he was not an ungrateful bear!
He would definitely make the name Xiong Daoren resound throughout the Three Realms!
To reach the standard that would allow him to attend the Flat Peach Banquet!
Not bothering to look back at Xiong Daoren anymore, Tian Peng yawned, full from food and wine, life was simply blissful.
Let’s rest first.
Tian Peng thought to himself.
After waking up, he planned to take that foolish dog and hunt for treasures together.
As for this task, Tian Peng was very enthusiastic.
Meanwhile, Chang’e left the banquet and returned alone to Guanghan Palace. The Guanghan Palace was vast, yet eerily quiet.
Servants were absolutely not allowed to enter.
Chang’e walked with some difficulty, step by step; the banquet had been too marvelous, and she couldn’t help but overeat.
However, she did not use her mana to digest immediately; she felt that this, too, was a kind of happiness, something she had never experienced before.
The Guanghan Palace was still too quiet; she wondered how the Palace Master managed to endure through the endless years.
With these thoughts, Chang’e made her way to the inner hall.
"You’re back?" As she entered, a lonely and slightly oppressive voice rang in Chang’e’s ears.
Chang’e instinctively nodded her head, looking towards the high seat.
A white gauze curtain was half-drawn, not over a seat but rather resembling a bed.
Lying gracefully upon it, clad in silver-white garments, was a figure showcasing a perfect silhouette.
Even though her jade legs were concealed by the exquisite skirt, one could imagine their slenderness and smoothness from her posture.
Her fair wrist and hand dangled off the side with a languid elegance, eyes gently closed, her features picturesque, her well-defined nose striking.
Nowhere was not delicate, nowhere was not natural.
A pale silver crescent moon mark on her forehead added an air of distance.
Her lips were as red as cinnabar, forming a vivid contrast with her white jade-like skin, creating a scene of solitary beauty.
Such a perfect union of contradictions, Stunning City was not enough to describe her beauty.
A single thought could captivate the world.
Even though Chang’e had been in Guanghan Palace for untold years, every time she saw the Palace Master, her heart would still stir, she was so beautiful, and every meeting sparked an impulse to protect her.
"Palace Master, I’ve returned," Chang’e said softly.
"This is the Flat Peach given by the Heavenly Court." She took out a nine-thousand-year Flat Peach and approached reverently, presenting it with both hands.
The Taiyin Star Lord’s expression remained unchanged, her lips still, but her voice echoed in the hall.
"That’s for you from the Heavenly Court. Eat it," she said.
"But this is... a nine-thousand-year one!" Chang’e exclaimed anxiously.
She, a Little Immortal, how was she worthy of a nine-thousand-year Flat Peach. Surely, the Heavenly Court had given it to her out of respect for the Palace Master.
"If I tell you to eat, eat," the Taiyin Star Lord had no desire for the Flat Peach.
"Yes... *burp*!" Chang’e could only nod in agreement, only to let out an unexpected burp.
She quickly covered her mouth.
The Taiyin Star Lord opened her eyes, a flash of surprise briefly crossing her lonely gaze.
"It seems the meal suited your taste quite well?" The Taiyin Star Lord propped herself up slightly with a delicate hand, sitting up.
Silver hair like snow cascaded behind her, enticingly.
Chang’e usually only nibbled when she ate, to say nothing of this current state.
Her cheeks a bit flushed, Chang’e spoke softly, "Yes, the dishes at this banquet were truly delicious, I’ve never eaten such tasty food before, especially..."
A look of lingering satisfaction appeared on Chang’e’s face.
She paused before continuing, "Especially the last dish, the fire pot!"
Her voice suddenly grew louder, betraying a hint of excitement.
She described it with every conceivable superlative.
After hearing Chang’e’s words, Taiyin Star Lord was quite interested, "I would have never thought this banquet would bring such new variety."
Seeing Taiyin Star Lord’s interest, Chang’e eagerly said, "Palace Master, I could try to make it."
That fire pot, she remembered very clearly, was just putting ingredients in and then scooping them out, dipping them in sauce...
Simple yet delicious...
"Alright then, let’s give it a try," said Taiyin Star Lord.
Though she wasn’t very expressive, Chang’e could feel that the Palace Master was in a good mood now.
She hurriedly set to work, thinking that even by merely copying what she’d seen, she could manage something close, right?
Chang’e thought to herself.
After a while, the dining table in the hall featured a pot over the fire, boiling away fiercely.
Hot red peppers floated inside the bubbling cauldron, tumbling around.
Taiyin Star Lord gracefully picked up her chopsticks and, following Chang’e’s instructions, she put in slices of meat of varying thickness into the pot.
After a few moments, she lifted them out and dipped them in sauce.
Under Chang’e’s expectant gaze, she placed a piece in her mouth, and the next moment, her cool brow furrowed.
A momentary struggle crossed her exquisite face; the meat was tough and even uncooked in places, the spiciness was one-dimensional, and the sauce too salty.
None of it matched up to the earlier description; it truly was just an attempt.
Even with her cooler temperament, Taiyin Star Lord couldn’t help but inwardly criticize the effort.
However unpleasant it was, she did not spit it out.
She simply stopped using her chopsticks.
"Palace Master, why have you stopped eating?" Chang’e asked curiously.
"You try it," Taiyin Star Lord said. Though she was not angry, her tone inevitably carried a slight reproach.
Chang’e, thinking it was just a matter of trying, and determined that she had mimicked accurately, doubted there could’ve been such a significant deviation.
Chang’e skeptically took a bite and immediately spat it out, her lovely face scrunching up in distress.
It took her a while to recover.
Confusion filled her eyes; this couldn’t be possible!
How could there be such a big discrepancy?!
That base ingredient was bright red; wasn’t it chili pepper?
Could it be that the pepper needed to be ground into powder to achieve that effect?
Chang’e pondered the possibilities for her failure.
But the base and sauces were Chen Nuo’s legacy, beyond Chang’e’s grasp no matter how hard she tried.
Taiyin Star Lord maintained her composure, but inside, she was greatly relieved.
She was thankful that for all these years she had subsisted on moon essence without having Chang’e cook; this talent of hers was indeed somewhat terrifying.
Setting down her chopsticks, she picked up a napkin, lightly wiped her delicate, bright lips and said, "You deal with the rest."
At these words, Chang’e shuddered.
All of it was left to her?!
No way!
Chang’e inwardly cried out. If it were before, she might have forced herself to eat it.
But now that she had fully experienced the flavor of fire pot, how could she let her own mouth suffer like this?
She quickly blew out the fire with a puff of Immortal Qi and cleaned the table spotlessly in a jiffy.
"It’s taken care of," Chang’e said with an embarrassed smile, stammering a bit.
If other immortals saw Chang’e like this, they would be utterly shocked.
The famously aloof goddess of the Three Realms actually had such an adorable side.
