" Away for a long time." PetaI replied and continued to pack her books.

Noah tried to appear not affected by what she just said. He hated the fact that she is going to stay in a man’s apartment alone.

"I have an empty apartment, I can have it cleaned right away and give the keys. You can stay as long as you like." Jacob said.

Petal understood what he meant and she turned to look at him.

"I can’t, Noah is like a brother to me, He will be sad if I did that." Petal said signaling.

Nodding her head, Noah forced a smile on his lips.

When Noah Left, Petal took off her blazer and was about to go to the bathroom when the door to her room suddenly opened. Turning to look at who it was, Her body froze; she couldn’t move an inch as her feet were glued to the ground. She watched as he closed the door and started to walk towards her.

Ethan’s eyes noticed the blacktop that she was wearing, The thin piece of cloth was showing her body curves.

Was she on top while Noah was here?

Thinking about this Ethan, Felt angry but he didn’t show his anger.

"I know that you don’t want to see me. But I needed to. Don’t push me away, PetaI." Ethan said when he stood in front of her.

Petal stared at him with cold expressions on her face or that’s what she tried to show. How could he ask her to not push him away when he was the reason behind what happened to her mother, He needs to taste the pain that she tasted.

Ethan took two steps, Closing the space between them and she took a step back.

"Tell me, Do you hate me now?" Ethan asked staring into her hazel eyes.

"Did I love you to hate you?" She asked him back signaling.

Ethan felt something inside of him snap when she said this." Then what about that day? The kiss, Does it mean nothing to you?" He asked grabbing her by the shoulders.

Ethan knew that it wasn’t the right time to talk about this, She had learned about her mother’s death just two days ago.

Petal chuckled and nodded her head no before she removed his hands off her.

"It means nothing to me and it should mean nothing to you." She replied to his question signaling.

Ethan’s eyes narrowed as he looked at her, It seemed that he doesn’t know her. She wasn’t this cold-hearted or did he it’s just what he liked to imagine her to be. What happened to the sweet girl that he fall in love with.

"Are you declaring war, Petal? Do you want revenge? Do you want me to feel what you felt? Fine. But don’t push me away. Because no matter what you do I won’t back down on you." Ethan spoke in a determined tone.

Petal stared at him surprised for a minute, She hadn’t expected that. A smile appeared on her lips, The more he’s determined, The more it will hurt.

Ethan’s eyebrows creased together seeing her smile. For a second he felt scared, Scared that he lost her for ever.

"You lived your life thinking that everything has to be just like you want to. But not this time." PetaI said signaling.

They said that hatred can blind people and that’s what happened to her. Petal was well aware of what she was doing, But the pain inside her made her think about one thing, and that is how to make this man pay for what he caused her.

"Don’t do things that you might regret. If you want to hurt, Then hurt me but don’t hurt yourself." Ethan said as took a step towards her.

Smiling at her, He lifted his hand to touch her but he stopped when she stared hard at him.

Ethan couldn’t believe that she held that much power over him, But he didn’t mind it.

"One day we will forget about all of this." Ethan said, staring into her eyes.

After Ethan left the room, Petal’s body gave out and she fell on the ground crying. Her heart hurt so much, But why? Why is she feeling all of this pain?

Hugging her knee to her chest, She sobbed silently.

Outside the room, Ethan stood, he knew that she was crying inside, He knew that all the things she said and did were all an act she put in front of him just to appear strong. He wanted to open the door and pull her in his arms, He wanted to tell her that it’s alright and that everything will be okay. But he also knew that he isn’t welcomed in her world right now, So he has to wait for the right moment.

Back inside the room, Petal had calmed down after the sudden breakdown she gone through, She stood up and continued to gather her things before she left the room going downstairs looking for Jacob.

In the study room.

Jacob took a look at the place before he focused his attention on the man who was sitting in front of him.

"So what kind of job you are offering?" Jacob asked cutting right to the point.

Issac put down the cigarette in his hand in the ashtray And looked at him. He could tell that the man in front of him wasn’t an easy one.

"First, let us be clear. I’m aware that you’re not a personal bodyguard, You’re a hitman. I understand that you’re hiding this for a personal reason. But you do understand that a person like you is a threat to our family. " Issac explained.

Jacob wasn’t surprised, Nothing can stay hidden from a powerful family like them.

"If I want to target your family, I would’ve done that a long time ago." He replied to what Issac said.

"That’s right, But you also may be planning to target the family from inside. You can’t blame me for wanting to keep my family safe." Issac said as he stood up walking towards the window.

"I understand, I would’ve done the same if I were in your place, The same goes for Petal. She is a family and if I noticed that Ethan forms any kind of threat to her. Then I will need to protect her." Jacob said to give him a soft warning in his words.

Issac turned to look at him, Liking the bold side of this guy.

"Hmm. So you know. Did Petal told you?" Issac asked wanting to know if Jacob was interested in Petal too, Maybe before Ethan met her.

"No. Your brother did." Jacob replied.

Issac was about to say something when they heard an urgent knock on the door before the door opened and Petal entered the study room. She looked pale as if she has seen a ghost.

Jacob stood up and walked towards her."Petal, Are you alright?" He asked worriedly.

"I’m fine. Can we leave now?" Petal said signaling glancing at Issac before she Looked back at Jacob.

"Yes." Jacob replied and she immediately took a hold of his hand dragging him out of the room and out of the mansion.

Petal didn’t stop or listen to him, She continued walking until she reached her car.

"Is this your car?" Jacob asked seeing her unlocking the back seat of the car and put her small bag before she walked towards the driver’s door.

"Yes. Drive your car and I will drive mine." PetaI said and got into the car not giving him the chance to say anything.

Ethan watched as the two cars drove the car out of the mansion.

"What did you do to her? She run out of the mansion like a scared cat." Issac asked staring at his brother.

"Petal is seeking revenge." Ethan said staring at the dark sky.

Hearing this, Issac frowned. "Did she told you that?" He asked.

Nodding his head, Ethan took out the cigarette pack and the lighter

After lighting the cigarette, He took a long puff from it before he let out the smoke from his mouth.

"But I don’t mind. Let her do her best as long as she doesn’t hurt herself." Ethan said as he took another puff of the cigarette.

Issac rolled his eyes at the stupid words that his brother said. It was true when they said that love can turn the toughest men into soft lovers.

"Are drunk Ethan? Of course, she is going to hurt herself. She might go and marry someone just to see you suffer." Issac said and saw a flash of light pass through his eyes.

Marry someone else!

He would kill that person before he lay his hands on her.

"Now that’s the spirit, You should have kissed more roughly that night, Woman like men to be dominating and know what they want." Issac said patting his brother’s shoulder.

Ethan throw the cigarette on the ground and stepped on it.
