Isekaied Into An Eroge, Time To Have Fun!-Chapter 112: Dungeon (5)
The Earth Spirit ducked beneath a swipe of my dagger and actually punched upwards into my wrist, its sharpened fists breaking through the skin and cutting into my flesh to give me my first wound.
Thankfully the monster was so small because otherwise this could have been really bad; already it was a sharp, hot pain that flared up in my wrist and ’shocked’ my hands, causing my fingers to lose a little strength which almost caused me to drop my weapon.
Having two little holes in my wrist certainly wasn’t a fun thing to have happen to me, but it could have been much worse; with the adrenaline flowing through my veins it didn’t really seem to matter all that much since I was able to backhand the rocky doll and send it flying backwards.
Now that it was off balance and reeling a little from being struck, I stepped forwards and unleashed a diagonal cut across its chest, the steel biting into the rocky armor it had, cracking it open and slicing through the flesh beneath.
The rocks began to peel off as it lost its concentration, revealing more of its body and enabling another attack that went ahead and killed this trickier Earth Spirit; it took far more than I had been hoping to bring down just some random Earth Spirit, but it was down and now I was a little bit more prepared for the next fight.
I searched the area around me for said next fight, breathing a sigh of relief when I noticed that the cluster of four Spirits was far away and that the Lightning Spirit was still milling around even after all of this.
That meant I had a little bit of time to recuperate and gathering myself, so I decided that now was the time to test out that spell that Sera just taught me in order to close up the two holes in my right wrist.
The pain was slowly creeping back as the adrenaline toned itself down, giving me the drive I needed to get this spell right and stop myself from feeling more pain; pooling mana into my left hand, I guided it to two fingers next and watched as a small, warm red flame appeared above them.
Guiding it over to the wound, I took a breath and imagined the flame as something that healed instead of burned, treating it as a source of heat and aid as I pressed it against the first hole; watching it trickle on into the puncture was odd, especially since I could feel the wound growing hotter immediately afterwards.
For a brief moment I panicked and thought that I might have just cauterized myself instead of using magical healing, but that intense heat gave way to a soothing warmth that consumed the pain and began to knit the flesh together.
It took a few seconds for the first hole to be closed, but the fact that I could heal this quickly was already astonishing to me; the second was even shorter since it had benefited from the first, meaning that within ten or so seconds I no longer had a visible wound.
That alone was amazing and awesome, so when I thought about the higher tier magics and potions that healed even more egregious wounds and did so in the same time I was actually feeling a bit giddy.
It wasn’t guaranteed healing but it gave me a sense of comfort in knowing that most of whatever damage I took could be healed one way or another in a short timespan, where it would have taken months if not years to heal in my old world.
Now that I was healed I had that small realization that I could easily get wounded again since I didn’t have a whole lot of armor on right now, and my reflexes were decent but not terribly good, even against Spirits.
If this was what the Earth Spirit could do I was somewhat dreading the Lightning Spirit nearby, but that just meant I needed a quick solution, one that made a bit of sense to start perfecting sooner rather than later.
A majority of offensive spells were instant casts, meaning you only needed to create them and then cast them before forgetting about them completely; that was easy and pretty simple to achieve back to back, but there was another category of spells that were used a lot in combat.
’Active’ spells were spells that required constant attention by the caster to achieve their purpose, and the spell that I was thinking of was the basic ’armor’ spell, which would turn mana into a defensive boost for the caster.
Even if I could get the full body version on my first try getting just my hands and wrists would be useful going forwards, at least until I get some leather gloves and bracers... though how long it would take to get those was unclear, since they cost money and I didn’t have a whole lot anymore.
Anyways before the next group could figure out I was here I quickly tested out that spell, once again pushing mana into the hubs on my arms and this time spilling it out from each of them, covering them in fire and tempering it down into something workable.
Slowly taking the shape of my arms, the flames licked together into plates that shifted alongside me, and their heat was barely noticeable as they instead acted as a repellant rather than something meant to burn.
The only issue with these sorts of spells was the mana drain, but that just meant I needed to finish this quickly before that became an actual problem; starting with that group of four, I got as close as I could before darting forwards, startling the Spirits and giving me a perfect opening.
My dagger sliced through the torso of one before I stabbed another in the gut, killing two of them before they even realized what was happening; even then I still got a nasty cut off on the third, giving me a one on one with the final one. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
It was another Wind Spirit, so it tried to send a flurry of cuts at me only to realize that my arms were protected by fire, meaning its attacks hadn’t done anything besides cause a few of the plates to flare up a little before returning to their dormant state.
Because of that I was able to make quick work of that Spirit as well, allowing me to turn back to the previous one and end its life before it got away; a part of me was proud of how I had taken on this larger group with ease while another was somewhat revolted by that sort of pride...
