Invincible Snake Emperor-Chapter 189 - 186: Battle Serpent
So she couldn't help but want to ask a few more questions, but before Li Qingzhao could ask again, a Cheng Yaojin popped up out of nowhere.
"Zhao'Er... what are you doing here? I've been looking all over for you."
Just then, a tall, imposing man ran over from the crowd, his tone overly familiar.
When Li Qingzhao saw who it was, she felt a headache coming on. She subtly angled her phone's camera toward the flow of people and said, "Chen Bo, how many times have I told you? Don't call me Zhao'Er. We're not that close."
Chen Bo shrugged and retorted, "Zhao'Er, we're childhood sweethearts. If we're not close, then who is?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he noticed the handsome young man standing opposite Li Qingzhao. A sense of alarm washed over him instantly. "Who are you?"
"A passerby."
The young man shook his head and began to leave again. Anxious, Li Qingzhao shot Chen Bo a glare and chased after him. "Hey, mister, you haven't finished answering my questions!"
"If I answer your questions, will you leave me alone?" The man was speechless. 'This girl is unbelievably shameless.'
Li Qingzhao gave a faint smile. "That's right. Answer my questions honestly, and you can go." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Then ask."
Li Qingzhao said, "You're from Bai Town, so why didn't you bring a snake out with you?"
Before the young man could answer, Chen Bo cut in, "Do you even need to ask? He's obviously afraid of snakes."
"Zhao'Er, I know you're livestreaming today, looking for people with good snakes to interview. Why are you bothering with a pretty boy like this who's afraid of snakes?" Chen Bo said, a smug look on his face. "Look at me. What do you think of this snake I've got?"
Li Qingzhao hadn't actually noticed Chen Bo had a snake on him. Following his gesture, she looked over and was slightly taken aback. A large snake was coiled around his thigh. It was so big it wound all the way up his leg to his waist.
When she got a clear look at the snake's ferocious appearance, Li Qingzhao gasped, "An Emperor Cobra?"
The snake wrapped around Chen Bo was easily over three meters long. Its body was covered in pale yellow ringed markings, and its head and neck flared to reveal a sinister pattern. Fine, perfectly uniform scales covered its body, and its demonic eyes held a cold light that could make a person shudder.
The Emperor Cobra, known as the king of snakes, is incredibly venomous. Its venom can kill a person in just three minutes.
Chen Bo was very satisfied with Li Qingzhao's reaction; this was exactly the kind of visual impact he wanted. The pretty boy beside them, however, had no reaction at all to his cobra. He merely shot it an indifferent glance before looking away.
This left Chen Bo feeling slightly miffed.
Li Qingzhao hadn't expected Chen Bo to bring an Emperor Cobra out with him. After a moment's hesitation, she said, "You'll have to wait. It's first come, first served. Get in line. Once I'm done interviewing this gentleman, I'll get to you."
"He doesn't even have a snake, what's there to interview?" Chen Bo said, annoyed. "He's probably not from Bai Town anyway. No true man of Bai Town would be afraid of snakes or walk around without one."
"Chen Bo, stop talking nonsense!"
Li Qingzhao snapped.
"Who said I don't have a snake?" the young man suddenly said, his voice light.
At his words, Li Qingzhao's eyes brightened, and she quickly asked, "Then where is your snake, mister?"
The young man's lips curved into a devilishly charming smile as he made a fist and held it out.
Chen Bo saw this and sneered. "Don't tell me your snake is hiding in your fist. What do you think it is, an earthworm?"
Li Qingzhao looked frustrated as well, feeling as if he was toying with her. But her eyes were involuntarily fixed on his outstretched fist.
The fist opened. One by one, his fingers uncurled, and his palm slowly flattened, capturing everyone's full attention.
When his palm was fully open, both Li Qingzhao and Chen Bo, who still wore a sneer on his face, were slightly stunned.
'Damn, there really is a snake in his fist! But... isn't it a little too small?'
Its body was an alternating pattern of red and white, and its Snake Skin was so clear it was almost translucent. At only about twenty centimeters long, anyone who didn't know better would have mistaken it for a newborn hatchling.
Li Qingzhao had seen a great many snakes today. If you asked her which was the biggest, she wouldn't be able to say right away. But if you asked which was the smallest, it was without a doubt this one right here.
"Damn, a snake that small wouldn't even be enough to get stuck between my Emperor Cobra's fangs!"
Chen Bo's Emperor Cobra, coiled around his thigh, was incredibly imposing. Its venom could take a life in three minutes.
It was hardly inferior to even the rarest Snake Species.
Li Qingzhao laughed awkwardly. "Your snake is certainly unique, mister. What kind of species is it?"
"An Awakening-type species," the young man replied seriously.
Li Qingzhao looked completely bewildered. "What's an 'Awakening-type'?"
Chen Bo said impatiently, "Zhao'Er, don't listen to this guy's nonsense. He pulls out a snake barely bigger than an earthworm and has the nerve to show it off? Isn't he afraid of offending the Lord Snake King?"
"My snake may be small, but it's not necessarily weaker than your Emperor Cobra."
The words came out casually from the young man, whose brilliant eyes were like two pools of calm, still water.
His tone was light and nonchalant, but it carried the scent of gunpowder.
"What's this, pal? Are you challenging me to a Battle serpent?"
Today was the Snake King Festival, and a Battle serpent event was already on the schedule. There was no more fitting day for a Battle serpent.
The young man glanced sideways at Chen Bo's cobra. "This snake of yours… I'd say it's worth at least a hundred thousand, wouldn't you?"
Chen Bo lifted his chin arrogantly, a cold sneer playing on his lips. "I'll give you that. You've got a good eye."
"A Snake Species worth a hundred thousand… won't you be heartbroken if it dies?" the young man asked nonchalantly.
Hearing this, Chen Bo flew into a rage. "Kid, you think that tiny thing can kill my Emperor Cobra? You must be dreaming!"
"Then let's put it to the test."
"Fine! Whoever backs out is a son of a bitch!" Chen Bo's eyes lit up; this was exactly what he'd been hoping for.
Li Qingzhao never expected her simple interview to inexplicably devolve into a Battle serpent.
Her live-stream chat, however, had exploded.
"Goddess, I've never seen a Battle serpent before! I've heard of bullfighting and cockfighting, but what's a Battle serpent actually like? Suddenly I'm so excited!"
"Keep the stream on them! I can't wait to see the Battle serpent!"
"That handsome guy's snake is way too small, isn't it? Has he lost his mind? Pitting a tiny snake like that against a three-meter-plus Emperor Cobra? Isn't that like an egg smashing against a rock?"
The Emperor Cobra was a household name. Even people who knew nothing about snakes had likely heard of it—a ferocious species, a true tyrant among snakes.
Of course, that comparison was only valid among mortal snakes.
Many people were skeptical. Was there even any point in these two snakes participating in a Battle serpent?
Most people thought not. To borrow Chen Bo's words, a tiny little snake like that wasn't even enough to get stuck between the Emperor Cobra's fangs.
What puzzled everyone, however, was that this handsome, devilishly charming young man was brimming with confidence. He wasn't one for trash talk, but the self-assurance on his face was impossible to hide.
He had the air of a hidden master.
It was as if there was no possibility of his little snake losing.
This left everyone utterly baffled.
Li Qingzhao also felt this Battle serpent was pointless. She turned to the young man and said, "Mister, my interview is finished. You can leave. I promise I won't stop you this time."
"Zhao'Er, stay out of this. Just focus on your livestream."
Chen Bo had been planning to use this Emperor Cobra to show off his power to Li Qingzhao and win her affection all along.
Now that someone had walked right into his line of fire, it was the perfect opportunity to let Li Qingzhao see for herself just how formidable his Emperor Cobra was.
If she was going to interview something, it should be his cobra.
