Chapter 183: Too small

Gina smiled and nodded.

"Yes, they’re Cloudwing clan. My new mate Trent’s babies."

"Gina, you’re amazing," Rory said sincerely.

She reached out and gently poked one of the tiny newborns in the incubator. It was unbelievably soft, warm and fragile, wriggling faintly beneath her fingertip.

Seeing how much Rory liked them, Gina teased with a grin, "You have mates now too. Have you thought about when you’ll have babies?"

Rory hadn’t really considered it.

When she bonded with Jasper, he had taken precautions.

Smiling, she replied, "No rush. My Rank is still low. I’ll wait until I advance a few more levels before thinking about children."

Ability users had long lifespans. She didn’t want babies so early.

She had already discussed this with Vincent and the others. None of them had objected.

Yuel, in particular, had seemed almost relieved at the idea of postponing children.

Gina understood that Rory had her own plans and didn’t try to persuade her. Instead, the two of them fell into lively conversation. They hadn’t seen each other in so long, and Gina had endless stories to tell.

By the time the sky outside began to darken, Rory finally stood to leave.

"Gina, I’ll come see you and the babies again soon. I’ll bring you something delicious next time."

"Mm." Gina looked at her reluctantly. "You have to visit often. I’m stuck here for a month—I’ll be bored to death."

"Don’t worry," Rory promised. "I’ll come a lot."

She left the hospital with Nix and Xarion.

Outside, Nix immediately asked, "Were Gina’s babies cute? What clan are they from?"

"Cloudwing clan," Rory said with a laugh. "They’re tiny. I touched them—they’re so soft. It was adorable."

Nix frowned thoughtfully. "Cloudwing babies are too small. You could accidentally sit on one and squish it."

He huffed. "Lion-Tiger Clan cubs are better. Fluffy. Even softer."

Xarion nodded in agreement. "Too small indeed. Snowfield Wolf pups are excellent—white as snow, and their howls are already fierce."

Rory stared at them.

Were those things anyone should say about newborns?

"That’s enough," she said firmly. "Those are Gina’s babies. No more nonsense."

"Okay," both males replied instantly, obediently falling silent. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Back at the villa, Nix rushed to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Since Vincent and Yuel hadn’t returned yet, Rory decided to go soothe Xarion first.

Even though she had already entered his room once before, she still felt slightly awkward stepping inside again.

Xarion, on the other hand, was calm.

He walked to the bed, opened a small drawer, and took out a slender silver chain. He looped one end around his neck and fastened the other to the headboard.

Rory: "..."

This man’s preferences were becoming more and more intense.

His tail slipped out and coiled around her waist.

"Female Master," he murmured softly, "before the soothing... may I have another kiss?"

He still remembered the last one vividly.

Rory remembered it too—and refused immediately.

"After I’m done."

If she kissed him now, she doubted she’d be able to concentrate.

Taking a steady breath, she cleared her mind of distracting thoughts and pressed her fingertip gently to his cool forehead.

Her spiritual power entered his mental sea.

This time, the process was even smoother than before. The ice spikes embedded in his consciousness had noticeably diminished.

Satisfied, she withdrew her energy.

The moment she finished, Xarion suddenly sat up, the silver chain at his neck making a faint metallic sound.

His kiss carried a crisp chill, like a snowflake landing unexpectedly on her lips—cool, persistent, and impossible to ignore.

The subtle clink of metal echoed in the quiet room, where only their breathing could be heard.

After a long moment, he finally released her.

His gaze lingered on her slightly flushed lips. Cool fingertips brushed over them slowly.

"Female Master... you’re truly sweet."

Her face burned instantly. How long was his heat cycle going to last?

Every time it was like this—she was starting to feel she might not survive it.

"You don’t even have a sense of taste or smell," she muttered, trying to stand—but his tail hooked her again.

"It’s not like that," he said seriously. "It’s a feeling. Female Master, you feel sweet."

If anyone else had said that, it might have sounded greasy.

But from Xarion, it felt strangely sincere.

She looked away quickly. His collar had fallen open at some point, revealing firm muscle beneath. Strands of silver-white hair draped across his chest.

"Oh..." She carefully removed his tail from her waist.

Then she opened the drawer and took out two more slender silver chains, fastening his wrists to the headboard.

"Stay here and feel whatever you need to feel," she said briskly. "I’m going to eat."

Xarion blinked.

So... this was what Female Master liked? Being restrained?

Rory left the room with her cheeks still warm.

Dinner wasn’t quite ready yet, so she hurried upstairs to wash her face before coming back down.

"Chi-chi!"

The moment she stepped out again, Cotton Candy dashed toward her.

Dressed in the princess dress Yuel had bought and wearing a small crystal crown, the pink little rabbit stood upright—and began dancing.

It was ridiculously adorable.

"Cotton Candy! You learned how to dance? Did Yuel teach you?"

Rory scooped the rabbit up, delighted.

Dax, who had spent all day devising a way to cheer her up, nearly collapsed in indignation.

He had come up with the idea himself.

"Chi-chi," he protested softly.

Rory didn’t understand him at all. She laughed and kissed his cheek.

"My Cotton Candy is amazing. You can even dance now."

The warmth of her lips made Aren’s heart bloom instantly.

Fine. If she thought Yuel had taught him, then Yuel had taught him.

After all, he was just a rabbit right now. Rabbits couldn’t possibly learn to dance on their own.

Last night, he had ordered his subordinates to investigate thoroughly everything Aris had done in his absence.

After reading the report, he had felt as though the sky had collapsed. He was even more terrified to reveal his true identity to Rory.

Aris...

When he found him, he would imprison him—make him wish for death but never grant it.

Never again would he allow Aris to use his name to wreak havoc.

Rory carried Aren downstairs just as Nix finished cooking. The moment he saw her, his beast ears popped out in excitement.

"Rory, dinner’s ready. Eat first—I’ll head to my room... to make some preparations."

Candles. Incense. Everything needed to be arranged in advance.

Watching his eager retreating figure, Rory suddenly grew curious.

What would his room look like?

Would he fill it with mechas?

After all, Nix loved building them so much...
