"This is not good, young master…"

As the rustling sounds became intense, as if there was something approaching them, Clara finally stepped in.

"Whoa!" Theo exclaimed as Clara picked him up off the ground and kept him on the boar roughly. Theo quickly grabbed onto the little hair of the boar that dug into his skin.

He grunted, yet Clara didn't seem to care, which made Theo realize that something big had happened.

Clara frantically got on the boar too and whistled, making the pup jump on her.

When the pup was finally on her lap, she quickly looked at the forest in the east.

Theo was confused, but then he saw almost all the bushes and the grasses moving around in the east. A chill went down his spine.

And it was then that Theo finally realized why Clara was so scared. In a matter of seconds, countless vipers of different sizes entered the clearing and approached them with their topmost speed.

"FUCK!" Clara exclaimed with a pale face. The boar started moving with speed and traveled to the south on its own.

"WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" Theo exclaimed while holding on to his dear life on the boar.

"They're running, young master! We have to leave!" Clara exclaimed, and Theo became even more confused.

He looked to the back once and saw that all the vipers were going straight toward the west while they had taken the south.

"We are safe now, Clara! We can stop!" Theo exclaimed as the wind fell on his face so fast that he couldn't help but speak loud.

"You don't understand, young master," Clara replied with a pale frown. "They are running from something. Something we don't want to mess with!" Clara stated in a loud voice.

Theo felt another shiver in his spine. There was something in the air of the forest now, some kind of a pressure. Theo didn't know why, but he was feeling inferior in front of the pressure.

"This is bad…" Clara muttered under her breath with a frantic expression, but Theo heard it. He saw sweat fall down her face so fast for the first time.

'Just what the hell is this kind of situation?' Theo asked himself. He looked at the mantis, who was still holding onto the viper's body in one hand while its other was stuck at the boar's body.

He quickly realized the urgency and grabbed the mantis with his left hand and placed him in his pocket as before.

The mantis popped its head out with urgency, but when it saw the body of the viper on Theo's lap, it seemed to calm down.

The boar traveled for another few seconds before it started slowing down. There came a time that it started walking as slow as it could as if to no make a sound, and Theo felt its body shivering.

"Young master," Clara whispered in his ear and continued, "There is something in the forest… and it seems to be following us… the boar can't seem to outrun it..." she stated, and Theo's heart skipped a beat.

He looked around them and found nothing but tall grass that came as far as the boar's leg joint. There was nothing but quietness in the forest, as if there was nothing there in the first place, which was a weird thing in its own way.

The boar started slowing down even more and crouched its head down.

Theo frowned as he felt many blades of grass touch his face. He wanted to get up on the boar that had already sat wholly in the grass.

"What is it do- UMPH" Theo tried to speak, yet Clara kept a hand on his lips and forcefully made him slowly get to the ground and lay down completely.

The pup didn't say a single thing as it laid as low as it could, which made Theo feel like the situation was even direr than he had thought.

But when he saw Clara's face, his hope dwindled by a little. She was sweating so much with a horrified face.

Theo didn't know why that was so, but when he coincidentally touched his face, he felt a lot of moist sweat on it, which felt weird as he didn't even realize that he was sweating.

His heart pounded in his chest, each beat felt like a drum in the silence while everything was so quiet.

The boar's heavy breathing was the only sound that came near him. Clara's hand remained firmly pressed over his mouth. Her eyes darted around, scanning the tall grass and the shadows beyond. Her expression was still pale, yet there was this professionalism in her eyes.

Theo wanted to ask questions, like he usually did, but the weight of Clara's hand and the intensity of her gaze silenced him. Something was wrong this time. The images of countless vipers just coming toward them in a horde were still scarring him. He could feel the wetness of the grass beneath and around him; it was disgusting to say the least. His clothes were fully wet and cold now.

Theo observed the pup just beside his face. It was usually so lively but was now a small, trembling ball of fur pressed tightly against him and Clara's side.

Yet it was only the mantis that didn't seem to be feeling anything. It even tried coming out of the pocket as if nothing was happening, which made Theo feel if it was dumb. Yet then the mantis started looking everywhere vigilantly. Theo's eyes widened in shock; he knew that behavior.

'Is it trying to find the beast that is making us hide?' Theo thought, yet he just refrained from thinking about that. The mantis was not THAT brave in his eyes.

Suddenly, Theo felt the air grow heavier. It was a weird feeling that Theo could not understand.

His skin prickled, and he felt a strange, almost primal fear creeping into his bones. Theo felt Clara's grip tighten making him realize that she might be feeling the same thing.
