Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!-Chapter 153: The Tribulation Ends!
The sound of the collision was not as thunderous as onlookers thought it would be; rather, it was strangely muted for what should have occurred. After all, Li Ling took on the eighth bolt entirely head-on, seemingly trying to use some method to defend against it.
So what was the outcome?
The bright light receded, revealing a shocking scene to all as Li Ling was still in the same position with his hand raised, but the eighth bolt of lightning was stuck against a strangely silvery-gray vortex in the center of his upraised palm, forced to spin in the same direction as the vortex.
The eighth bolt had already been broken down by ten percent like this, the remnants scattered carelessly by Li Ling all around the outpost, crashing into various buildings and vaporizing them immediately, causing continuous explosions all over.
Those in the fourth realm and above could mostly defend themselves from such miniature sparks of heavenly thunder, but those in the first three realms were nothing but goners before it. This forced those idle fourth realm and above watchers to change their expressions as they spread out and began destroying the miniature thunder.
At this time, Li Ling had ground away 70% of the bolt, his forehead beaded with sweat while his eyes were partly narrowed in intense focus, because what he was doing wasn’t simple in the least. No one else could understand the magnitude of his actions minus Gu Yin, who was still suppressing the entire outpost, wearing an expression of incredulity.
"Grandmist? So he practiced one of the Chaos-related arts in the Sect Library? But even the simplest one among them requires top-grade spirit roots in the five elements—does this lad actually possess such unreasonable talent?" Gu Yin muttered to herself thoughtfully.
If so, then why bother coming to a demonic sect? He would have fared much better in a righteous sect with such talents—especially the Ancient Dao Sect, which ranked second; they were the best when it came to elemental cultivation and its esoteric concepts.
Li Ling ground away the entirety of the eighth bolt and then sighed in relief. He had to admit that his previous actions were extremely risky, because the One Line Chaos Art was said to be able to break down any element into its raw state, but it naturally depended on the incoming power versus Li Ling’s own mastery.
As he was still in the first level of the Core Formation Realm, his Grandmist Dharma Power was still in its initial stages, so it stood to attest to the quality of Li Ling’s Grandmist due to the perfect breakthrough mechanics of the Infinite Slaughter System along with the power of Grandmist itself.
Because of that, he couldn’t even break down and absorb the heavenly tribulation lightning. While it was still of the lightning element, that extra conceptual power of ’Heaven’s Might’ contained within was not something he could, nor dared to, break down, so he simply opted to disperse it, using his Grandmist like a paper shredder.
There was no guarantee this would work too, so he was taking a bit of a risk. However, Li Ling had faith not in his spatial abilities, because Heaven’s Will had long sealed subspace; otherwise, wouldn’t geniuses with spatial talents be able to run into the void to avoid the ordeal?
What he had faith in was his newly comprehended rules and his system, though neither were necessary, thankfully.
Glancing upwards at the ninth and final bolt, Li Ling couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, feeling like a student about to write their final college paper and then be free for the entire summer!
KRAKOOM!
The final bolt charged itself up and thundered downwards with the last bit of fury, the thunderclouds thinning even as it left their bosom. Knowing that it was half a fold stronger than the already troublesome eighth bolt, Li Ling still opted to unleash his arsenal to weaken the final strike as much as possible.
First was the Meteor Spell at full power and then the Fire Stream Art, both of which were easily annihilated by the bolt but consumed about 10% of its power each. Li Ling then activated the Golden Blockade, which met the 80%-strong bolt head-on, releasing a thunderous cracking sound as it shattered almost immediately on contact, only taking away another 15% of its power.
The rest he had to slowly grind away with his One Line Chaos Art’s Grandmist Dharma Power, creating a vortex in the center of his palm that contained the ninth bolt, which was slowly being weakened as microbolts fell off the side, striking all over the outpost and causing a lot of trouble for the powerhouses trying to defend.
However, they would only grit their teeth and contribute their power to assisting Li Ling indirectly, and whatever grievances they had about it had to wait until after the tribulation ended. However, knowing it was the final bolt and it was being dealt with, his benefactors were excited and feeling relieved, while his detractors were peeved and unwilling.
Was this going to be it? Would the heavens really allow such a monster to exist?
Both sides secretly held their breath, waiting for any change to occur, but nothing came even when Li Ling finally ground the last bolt down completely. Li Ling himself was completely alert, with his Purple Mansion Danger Sense fully activated while his mind had already called up the system and was ready to make crazy moves should anything change.
But still... nothing.
The thunderclouds rumbled one last time as if grumbling that they couldn’t do more, then rapidly dispersed the same way they appeared, revealing a clear sky. The sun seemed to also have been paid to do a job, because its rays fell upon the airborne Li Ling at the right angle, making him seem like a messiah coming down upon the earth from the heavens.
All, whether they loved or hated him, could only subconsciously bask in the awe of what they had just borne witness to. This young man had broken through to the third realm, comprehended three entire rules, and then withstood a heavenly tribulation meant for those one major realm ahead.
Each of these things were groundbreaking events that would forever change the history and landscape of the entire Tian Ming Continent, and they had been alive and present to witness it at this dingy outpost!
Li Ling grinned and glanced down below, feeling his Dharma Power rapidly recharging thanks to his powerful core, which was like a sinkhole, swallowing up all the spiritual energy within the range of his newly upgraded Dharma Sense, the new form of his spirit sense which was an upgrade.
A Foundation Establishment cultivator started with 10 meters of spirit sense and ended at 100 meters, while a Core Formation cultivator started at 100 meters of Dharma Sense and would reach 1000 by the Perfection realm.
Since Li Ling had two types of spirit sense—the loose one from his cultivation realm that reached 1058 meters and the refined one from his Nine Heights Pagoda practice, which was exactly at 100 meters currently—this Dharma Sense was borne in both.
So the 1058 meters became loose Dharma Sense and the 100 meters became refined Dharma Sense. Within this range of his cultivation, Li Ling’s core had full control over the spiritual energy there, even over those below him, his auto-cultivation always freely sucking in the energy within that range at no cost to himself.
As he recovered, he glanced upward and saw that a glowing mist of golden light descended from the heavens and surrounded his body, rapidly repairing his injuries and supplementing his cultivation, allowing him to consolidate his cultivation.
However, since the Infinite Slaughter System already handled that, the energy was mostly used to patch any flaws in his foundation. However, as Li Ling had a perfectly flawless foundation, the golden mist was unable to fix anything, leaving it almost with a human expression of confusion.
Brother, I came here to do a routine job, but you have nothing for me to do? Are you trying to cause trouble and waste my time?
In the end, the golden mist could only drill into his head and aid in comprehension, but it also found that Li Ling’s set of arts that still had space to go were unique immortal arts that it itself could not make heads or tails of, so how could it aid in anything?
It went to his dantian; he had the Five Elements Heavenly Spirit Roots now, so it couldn’t enhance anything.
It checked his body, but his perfect breakthrough in body cultivation left not a single place untouched or inferior. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
It even checked his soul talent, but it couldn’t enhance that since his soul power was rather strong due to transmigration first, and due to the various arts he practiced second.
In the end, the golden mist could only disperse helplessly, having encountered for the first time a truly perfect being with no flaws, even more pristine and supreme than the heavens themselves!
