Infinite Skin System: Starting as An Eldritch Knight-Chapter 62: Frankenstein
The zombies were Undead. They didn’t breathe or eat. But their nervous system was still the reason behind why they could move.
Carter mixed the explosiveness of the Cloud Powder with a few neurotoxin. It made the zombies fell to the ground and convulsed, unable to do anything else.
Carter bolted to the man and helped him up. "We need to be quick. This poison won’t last long."
"Thank you, my friend. I am grateful!"
"Don’t mention it. It is the duty of a doctor after all."
The man’s eyebrows twitched gently but he didn’t say anything.
Carter caught that reaction and pretended to not notice it. He got the man out of the deadly situation and found an abandoned house to hide in.
With his Medical Bag, Carter took out bandages and disinfectant.
"Drink this. This is Antibiotic Potion. It will keep your body from being infected."
And with that, one of his Antibiotic Bottle was gone.
The man drank without questions.
"Bite down onto this cloth. It’s going to be painful." Carter continued his instructions.
The man did as he was told. He understood why it was necessary. He bit down so hard because of the pain releasing when Carter poured the disinfect over his wound.
"God Dammit!" The man cursed.
He pushed through it and Carter was able to stop the bleeding.
"That should stabilize you. But you lost a lot of blood. You need blood transfusion." Carter said.
The man laughed, "You don’t need to lie to me. I’m a dead man walking. Blood transfusion doesn’t work. It’d kill you."
The man pointed at his medallion. "See this? This belongs to the Enthrall Institute. I am Doctor William Parker of the Enthrall Institute. I need you to tell my family that I love them."
"Tell them yourself." Carter picked him up.
The man coughed repeatedly. "I told you. Blood Transfusion doesn’t work! We tried it many times."
"Then you didn’t do it right! I am also a Doctor and I did many blood transfusions in the past."
"How... It is impossible."
"We’ll know very soon, won’t we?"
Carter carried him out of the quarantined zone. Unfortunately, with this patient with him, he had to come to the check-point like an ordinary person.
The policemen noticed the two of them.
"Stop! You are not allowed to cross the quarantine borders!"
William snatched his medallion out of his shirt and showed the police.
"I am Dr. William Parker. We’re here to conduct research for the Institute. I need medical attention now!"
"But..." The policemen frowned.
"This man will die if you do not let us through!" Carter shouted.
"Fine. But we will escort your. Climb on the carriage."
Carter put William inside the carriage. A policeman climbed on the driver’s seat and whipped the horse.
"Go!"
They rushed to the Enthrall Institute. The place was a huge facility with many large buildings surrounded an inner courtyard. The buildings of this world were more spread out, contrast from the vertical skyscrapers that Carter used to know.
They rushed him into the emergency room and many doctors showed up.
"Dr. Parker? We told you to not go inside the quarantined zone again!"
"He lost a lot of blood! He wouldn’t make it!"
William waved his hand dismissively. "Enough noises! I need Blood Transfusions now."
"Blood Transfusion doesn’t work. Dr. Hugo tried it many times!"
’Another Dr. Hugo? My fake name really is popular.’
William turned to Carter.
"He saved me. He said he has done successful Blood Transfusion many times. Let him operate on me."
"Him?"
"Who is he?"
"Uh. I forgot to ask bis name... What is your name, my friend?"
"My name is..." Carter said, "Victor Frankenstein."
It was only suitable to use this name, he figured. He was an obsessive mad doctor in the end.
The reason why Blood Transfusion in this world didn’t work because they hadn’t figured out that there were different types of blood yet. Carter told them that and showed them how to test the nature of a blood type.
He, of course, used William’s blood as the test subject to show others. After that, he analyzed a few other doctors to see if anyone had a matching blood type.
Carter found one easily as William’s blood type was rather universal.
They rushed William to the surgery room right after. This world’s physicians also didn’t understand much about bacteria and infection. So Carter had to teach them on the go, telling them how to disinfect their tools and wear sanitary operating clothes.
"How? How can we miss this?"
"This is a work of a genius! Hahahaha! With this discovery, the world’s medical techniques will advance greatly."
A nurse approached Carter with clean operating clothes. "Let me help you put the on the operating gown, Dr. Frankenstein."
Carter nodded. He kept his hands high to avoid contract more bacteria on him. The other doctors also put on their operating clothes.
Carter guided them from top to bottom. Their knowledge relating to Surgery was at the bare minimum. As for Carter, he had an Awaken Surgery Skill.
The precision and techniques of his surgery were already out of human’s comprehension.
The doctors gasped and opened their eyes wide many times during the surgery. They watched closely and assisted Carter. They treated him like the main doctor of the surgery.
Carter tied up the arteries and veins on William’s legs. He carved up the excessive bones to make sure it wouldn’t interfere with his healing.
Then he sewed the leg.
"His condition is stabilize. Now we need to do the Blood Transfusion."
William already lost a lot of blood. Both from the journey to the Institute and from the surgery. Carter tried to do it as quickly as he could, but the loss amount was still deathly. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
The doctor gathered around William’s hospital bed. They watched him with careful eyes, waiting for that reaction to happen.
But it didn’t. William was saved.
A doctor wiped his forehead full of sweat. "He did it. He really did it."
"Who is this doctor? Why did we never hear of him?"
"He said he’s from a different country or something."
"We need to make him a member of the Enthrall Institute now!"
Carter was sitting in the hallway. His high perception and Sonar Echolocation allowed him to hear everything inside the room.
’All according to plan... Carter smirked.
