"What the hell…" Rain furrowed his eyebrows.
"It seems that the system finally assimilated my skills since you obtained a part of them… how annoying," The woman in the darkness said. "No matter, this won't change anything."
"What are you doing and why that skill is already leveling up?" Larisa asked.
"I can drain the energy of the dragons when I kill them and by damaging the stump, I am killing the dragons that are connected to it," The woman in the darkness explained. "That is my power, drain their power and use for myself… the system already realized the weakness of that and that is why most likely, he will max the skills one after the other before he can learn new ones."
That was convenient and all, but Rain was more worrying than anything. He always felt wary of free stuff because there is nothing truly free in any one world when it comes to gifts. Still, Rain didn't feel anything odd with his body, so perhaps that wasn't a problem for now…
Still, just like usual, just when Rain thought that things didn't look as bad as they should have been, things took a troublesome turn. The entire continent convulsed and shook as if seized by an otherworldly force, causing the ground to tremble violently beneath Rain's feet.
It was an unprecedented chaos, one that reverberated across the land, sending shockwaves through the very core of the continent.
At the epicenter of this disturbance, the colossal stump, its immense size now dwarfed by the revelation before Rain, shuddered and quaked. It was a sight to behold, albeit a terrifying one, as the stump seemed to resonate with the chaotic rhythm of the continent's upheaval.
It became evident that this enormous tree stump was merely the foundational structure, a minute fraction of the grand scheme the dragons had set in motion.
Rain's eyes widened in alarm and disbelief. The roots he had uncovered earlier seemed to have extended far beyond what he initially imagined. They sprawled like colossal veins, snaking across the continent's length, infiltrating and entwining within the very fabric of the land. It was an intricate network, a nefarious design that had firmly entrenched itself on the land…
The roots trembled violently and Rain could feel them retreating to the stump since the whole structure was losing energy… that will do something regarding the spawns, now Rain just had to worry about the ice dragons… they should have realized what was going on and should be coming.
"I am going to speed things up a bit… I can feel their ominous aura approaching," The woman in the darkness said. "At the very least, you need to max out this first skill before facing them."
Rain had a lot of things to say about that, but he didn't have the time since he felt his body getting hotter and his mind being overwhelmed with information… he never obtained a power like that, and he never was able to obtain a skill and make it level up so fast, so he could clearly understand the knowledge that he was obtaining.
The woman in the darkness had devoted her life to studying the unknown nature of dragons, and Rain found himself in a unique position to unravel the secrets she had unearthed about these apparently cosmic creatures. Through her research, Rain came to understand that dragons were essentially concentrated embodiments of energy, shaped to withstand and contain vast amounts of power at any cost.
One of the most intriguing facts was that dragons could manifest in various forms, deriving from almost anything imaginable, including elements as basic as water. This adaptability and fluidity in their composition hinted at their versatile and adaptable nature, able to embody different states or materials to serve their purpose.
Yet, at their core, dragons were primarily composed of two fundamental elements: immense quantities of mana and the ominous force known as sins magic. These elements acted as the building blocks of their existence, forming the foundational essence of their being.
Mana, the lifeblood of magic, served as a colossal reservoir of energy, while sins magic provided a peculiar, unknown force that bound their essence together.
The woman in the darkness had unraveled the fact that dragons' bodies evolved over time, fine-tuned and perfected by the influence of sins magic. This evolution aimed to create the ultimate vessels capable of containing and channeling incomprehensible amounts of energy.
Every aspect of their anatomy was meticulously shaped and adapted, sculpted into the most efficient and resilient form to endure and harness immense energy without crumbling.
"How did you learn all this?" Rain asked while clenching his teeth as he felt his head getting hot as well.
"I don't know yet, all my memories aren't back, but I should recover all of that if you kill all of these ice dragons," The woman in the darkness said. "Here they come… let Nigel control his relics a bit."
Rain had no idea what she was talking about, but soon he felt the danger… the dragons shouldn't have reached him yet, but they were able to attack… before long, some loud noises came from above and then Rain saw the frozen clouds being pierced by ice meteors.
"Do it!" The woman in the darkness shouted.
Rain couldn't do anything else… It felt like holding his sword took all of him while he obtained all the power…
