Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 399: An Unfilial Disciple
"My dear dove," Cassius added as his voice turned increasingly more esoteric, "Life advances with the passing of time, and time is the culmination of experiences. If all one experienced was pain, and pain was ceaseless, would time not pass by in units of blinks of an eye?"
May knew he was trying to speak in terms of hypotheticals, but from the depths of his endlessly blue gaze, she knew he was referring to himself. This subsequently made her remember all the different future routes she had glimpsed with her Innate Ability.
Her joyous countenance quickly darkened and transformed into something impossible to comprehend. Unless you had witnessed as many eventualities as she had, even Cassius couldn't glean her true thoughts or feelings.
'They say some books are hard to understand from their covers alone,' he thought while staring at May. 'This is where the "don't judge a book by its cover" phrase came from. And of all the books I've seen in my many years of life, this fragmented dove is certainly the hardest to read.'
"Argh, whatever!" Luma finally stopped throwing a tantrum and breezed past Cassius with her lips curled in annoyance. "Let's just get the hell out of this place then, however it is we're going to do that."
Her words shook Cassius out of his reverie. He smirked—an action which further incensed his Master.
"You're going to perform another unbelievable feat, aren't you, unfilial Disciple of mine!?" Luma growled and grunted, stomping her feet hard enough to destroy the whole region they were standing over. "Just do it then! I don't care anymore! I don't care about anything, bah!!"
'Did she turn into a goat after cultivating for so long…?'
Cassius laughed crookedly.
Rising to the skies, he used his Body Energy to take the girls with him.
After reaching a height of many millions of miles, he stopped ascending. He then turned to the two beautiful women who had accompanied him thus far on this Quest of Advanced Character Development.
"This is your final chance," Cassius said seriously. "What I'm about to do is irreversible, and you won't be able to return to this world. This is to say that if you're having any second thoughts on joining me, or if you'd like to conclude any business you may have here, this is the time to do it."
Luma snarled, finding his perfect face even more punchable than usual. "What second thoughts? What business to conclude??" she cursed. "You've already built an Empire that reigns over the world as a supreme entity, making even the Earth Deities your bitches! You concluded everything without even doing anything, you stupidly powerful dope! As for second thoughts, the only one I have is falling so deeply for a dumb, dense bastard like you…!!"
"Hum?" Cassius arched a brow, acting oblivious even though he heard what she said. "You didn't happen to say—"
"No, I didn't, you idiot!" Luma closed his mouth shut, more angry than embarrassed. "I just wanted to insult you one last time before leaving this dastardly dumpster pit! So go on already; do whatever overpowered crap you're going to do! Gah!!"
"Gah?" Cassius tilted his head, overlapping his Master's image with that of a very angry baby bear. "Cute."
*Poof!*
"S-Shut up, you unfilial Disciple…!"
BOOM!
Cassius was kicked at full power, causing him to shoot into a barren continent billions of miles away. The massive landmass was obliterated the moment he touched down; however, through the whole process, he remained indifferent.
Rising from a huge crater, Cassius could be seen without even the tiniest bit of dust on him. He phantom-stepped, reappearing a few meters away from his Master.
"Solid kick," was the only thing he had to say in response to her giving it everything she had. "Though I'd recommend you practice more of that Platinum-rank Perishable Circulation Technique I gave you before my latest seclusion session. It would improve your form tremendously."
*Tick!*
"Just shut up, you unfilial Disciple!" Luma retorted while repeatedly kicking him, only for every attack to not even so much as move him. "You think I haven't been practicing that accursed Technique!? Well, I have, but it's just too damn difficult to understand!"
"Hmm?" Cassius pondered. "But I finished comprehending the entire thing in a couple of days. It wasn't too tough."
"That's because you're a freak!" Luma erupted like a volcano, going beyond her limits in order to deal some sort of damage to her Disciple. "Why!? Why is nothing working on you!?? Are you fucking invincible or what!??"
Every move she made against him simply whooshed behind him in the form of deflected momentum and energy. It was as if he were a permanently placed object in a game, one that couldn't be affected by outside forces.
But that was far from the truth for Cassius…
"You're just too weak, Master," he stated with utmost seriousness. "Train more."
OOOM!
"Th-This bastard…!! Falling for you was the worst mistake of my life!! In my next life, I swear I'm only going to be attracted to weak and incompetent losers!!!"
"Haha…"
Cassius could definitely name a few famous Main Character types like that off the top of his head. And they usually got the girls as well.
"I wish you luck in your future endeavors, Master," he declared earnestly.
"You…!" Luma fumed, giving up on attacking due to lack of stamina, now resorting to pouting and grumbling. "Isn't that where you say that you don't want your Master to ever die…? Y-You… suck!"
But before she could run off somewhere, Cassius grabbed hold of her waist.
Pulling her in close, he leaned in and whispered into her reddened ears, huskily saying, "Of course I don't want you to die, my beloved Master~"
*Poof!*
Steam rose from Luma's head as her face turned redder than blood. She tried to push away from him or stutter something, but couldn't and instead hid her flustered expression in his robes.
Smirking, Cassius asked, "That's what you wanted me to say, is it not? Well, was it to your liking?"
