In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]-Chapter 203: First Battle For Fate’s Favor (9)
With Kamille rushing, he reached the city in no time. He quickly went where the healers were located. When he arrived in the vicinity of the city, an elder was immediately notified.
Holding Rise in his arms, he coldly swept the surrounding healers. His eyes flickered, and more information appeared before his eyes.
"You." He called a young woman, who was standing just behind the others. She was wearing a simple uniform, probably just an apprentice.
Kamille did not care about that. He was only looking at their abilities. That woman had the highest possibility of completely healing Rise.
Just as he was about to instruct her to heal Rise, an elder arrived. He looked quite startled, especially as he saw Rise’s state.
Kamille did not let him ask any questions and quickly commanded him.
"Let her heal Rise, quickly!" There was no time to waste. "Not her. That woman."
"Huh? But—" He could not continue, and his body stiffened. Kamille’s crimson pupils coldly gaze at him. While the elder always found Kamille intimidating when they first met, something was entirely different in him.
The elder could just not quite put a word on it, especially in this situation.
Kamille did not say any words. What he said was final.
The elder gulped and looked at the healer apprentice Kamille pointed out. He could not remember her, but she could not see anything special with her.
Could she heal Rise? The other healers were also tense but looked at the apprentice with displeasure.
"Hurry!" Kamille urged once more, his crimson pupils flickered with ominous light. He looked at Rise, who was already lying on the bed, and looked up. "Heal her now." His voice became louder, making the people inside the room flinch.
If not for Rise being unconscious, the whole room might have exploded with Kamille’s temper.
He had only merged with his other self and had yet to stabilize himself. At this moment, the dominant personality was his noble self; there was only a slight sense of humanity left.
The elder had no choice but to look at the young woman and urged her with his eyes. The woman bit her lips, and the corners of her eyes moistened.
Suddenly being subjected to heavy pressure, the woman did not know what to do. However, she had to heal the important person even though she did not know if she could.
Slowly, he walked towards the bed. Her whole body was trembling, and being stared at by those dangerous crimson pupils made her want to prostrate herself and ask for forgiveness without making any mistakes yet.
Kamille noticed her trembling and frowned, but he suppressed his temper and stood up. What was more important was Rise’s condition.
He stood by the end of the bed and withdrew most of his presence to lower the tension in the room. It slightly helped calm the woman, although she was still trembling.
She closed her eyes and began healing Rise. As an apprentice, she truly had no clue why the dangerous man had chosen her to heal his companion. What if she failed to heal her? Would her life be in danger?
Thinking so, she felt like crying for such bad luck.
"Calm your mind." A voice then spoke.
Unlike the earlier tone, it had a calming effect this time. Fortunately, she had her eyes closed and did not see that while Kamille’s tone had changed, his expression remained threatening.
The woman did calm down. Since she was already tasked with healing a person, she could only pour all her heart into it. If that was not enough, it was not her fault anymore.
After all, she was a mere apprentice.
With that in mind, the young woman’s overall demeanor changed. The right hand she placed in Rise’s chest suddenly lit up, and the warmth even spread to the whole room.
The others gasped, afraid to talk much and disturb the woman. Only Kamille was unsurprised. He already saw her ability, the most capable in this room to heal Rise.
The light that started from her hand on Rise’s chest spread to his whole upper body. The wound was perfectly enveloped by the light.
There weren’t any dramatic effects other than that. Kamille clenched his fist tight, watching intently. He was afraid that something might happen again the moment his eyes left off Rise.
While Rise was being healed, he was having an internal debate once more. He found himself in that dark domain. Being an almost resident by now, he did not even leave his position and sat calmly.
Instead of fussing about his condition, he chose to think about what just happened.
They went and met that noble Count and went to attack it... Yet somehow, he and Kamille ended up attacking each other instead. Rise knew he could not mistake that same sensation.
He was controlled... yet again.
But how?
What about Kamille?
Right. Kamille!
He punched him and was thrown deeper underground.
"Are you there? I know you are," Kamille casually called. They were all in the same camp, and this book was using them anyway. There was no need for any politeness.
The book had not yet appeared when Rise asked again.
"What about Kamille? Is he okay?"
He should be. Rise’s punch was strong but not enough to... fatally injure Kamille. A few seconds had passed when a book appeared in front of him.
There was no blinding light around it anymore, as though, like Rise, it stopped doing such theatrics.
[You’re injured]
"So? What about Kamille?" Rise knew he was injured, but he was not dead. If he were, this book would surely interfere. He was a card that somehow decided to support.
[He’s fine. He also brought an unexpected outcome.]
"An unexpected outcome?"
[Kamille’s death and resurrection were recognized by fate; thus, changes occurred.]
Rise was just nodding along, but he froze when he realized what the book had said.
"Kamille... died?" Rise looked up; his mind selectively ignored the resurrection part, and he focused on the fact that Kamille died.
What? How? Did he... kill him?
Before his mind spiraled, it was obvious that he would. The book answered him almost immediately, although it might not be because of Rise’s worsening expression.
[You did not kill him. The Author did.]
