In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]-Chapter 197: First Battle For Fate’s Favor (3)
"What’s that?"
"The signal."
"Signal?" The woman was confused.
"Guess we’re in Plan B." Though it was only the second option. "Your group goes that way, ours this way."
"What are you talking about?" A man behind also asked, equally confused as the woman.
"Enough chitchat. Follow me." The man in front of them fixed the mask on his face and prepared to set off.
"Dan," Before he left, the man with a golden mane for a hair called. "Meet us later at the gathering place."
Dan merely nodded and soon left with the confused members.
The man who was left, Zenos, looked at them for a bit before he too instructed the men behind him.
"Remember the instructions. Evacuate as many people as you can."
While the first plan was merely to distract them as Kamilel and Rise kidnapped the leaders, the situation had changed. Rise was prepared for changes and so gave the instructions that if a dangerous situation arose, he would give a signal to let the city evacuate.
Under normal circumstances, it would be hard for a city with millions of citizens to be persuaded to evacuate in minutes. But when danger strikes, Zenos and the group would not need hard persuasion as they were scrambling to leave on their own.
At least the periphery around the headquarters, everyone must be evacuated.
Before coming here, Rise and Kamille met Zenos first and finished the business they needed there. In this reset, the book was cooperative, and Rise did not need to be unconscious with their ritual and took a minute at most for appearance’s sake.
Afterward, they track down Dan’s group. Since the situation was different. The last time, they were the only saving grace, but this time around, they suppressed the group instead. It did not take long for Dan to get on board.
"I admit you have some skills." The noble’s eyebrow shot up, looking at Rise a little more seriously.
Rise did not answer and merely smiled. His hands fell to his side, easing the pressure. He already finished what he intended to do.
"Why are you here?" Kamille’s voice rang, taking the stage from Rise.
The noble glanced at him, then back at Rise, eyes narrowing. His head cocked, and slowly his lips curled into a grin.
"I’m waiting for you."
"Waiting for us?"
The noble nodded, and his youthful face suddenly became twisted to an eerie expression. "I’m waiting for the arrival of the rebels."
Rise’s expression did not change, but inwardly, he was already frowning. He looked up and locked gaze with Kamille, eyes communicating with each other.
"What do you mean?" Rise asked, probing.
"It is as you heard." The noble flicked his fingers, and his seat moved, closing their distance at once. Yet he had to stop with just a step away from the two, as the wind and pressure did not allow him to come closer.
He eyed the boundary, smiled, and then laughed.
"Truly interesting. The human world really is interesting."
Rise clicked his tongue inside his cheek. He hated talking to a noble; they often get distracted by the simplest things, not to mention being very unpredictable.
The next, they were talking amiably, and the next, they were attacking without a word.
Two huge hands appeared behind the youth, immediately punched at Rise and Kamille’s direction. The two were prepared and jumped out of the way, though in different directions.
A hole on the ground appeared where they had been standing, the huge hands stopped, still clenching into a fist where it landed.
Rise clicked his tongue once more, looking at the youth who now had a twisted grin across his lips, laughing with amusement.
"Can you answer now? What do you mean, a rebel?" Rise did not take the attack to heart; they were about to clash soon enough. What was more important was to get more information before that happened.
He glanced at Kamille, not far away from him, who did the same.
"I also don’t know." The youth giggled, voice grating and annoying.
Rise grimaced at the sound. It pissed him off for some reason. He felt disgusted hearing such a deep and disgusting voice coming from a youth, being giggly and shits.
"Are you joking?"
The youth shook his head slowly. "I’m not... sure," he giggled again.
Rise’s temple throbbed, and he had the urge to slam that face on the ground. However, he also stopped himself. It was so unlike him to be provoked so easily by only a giggle.
Kamille’s pupils darkened further, dark mana emitted from his body materialized, and made the atmosphere gloomier. His jaw was clenching and veins bulged on his arms.
"Kamille!" Rise called, no, shouted the name.
It was bad. If Kamille was also taunted, then this noble was not simple indeed.
Kamille’s eyes blinked, the mana around him did not dispersed but the anger he exuded loosened somewhat.
"I know. I’m sorry."
"No, that noble bastard did something." Rise glared, earning another giggle.
The fuck?
This shit was toying with them. He knew that, and he was supposed to calm down after realizing that, but Rise could not stop himself, and soon he was already launching himself towards the youth, his hands heavy for a good punch on that annoying face.
Rise’s face changed; a familiar sensation enveloped him.
Hey, my body is moving on its own!
He only realized it, but it was too late, and he was already in front of the youth who still had that annoying grin.
No, it was bad. He also realized a problem. Rise glanced behind him, his eyes widened. A bad premonition tingled within him.
"No, step back! Stop! Kamille!" Rise shouted, but it was too late; Kamille was also attacking behind him. His eyes also carried confusion and shock.
Rise wanted to drop his hand and stop the punch, but it was too late as another giggle from the youth pricked him; reason seemed to have left him.
He screamed inside his mind, that annoying giggle was the only sound echoing in his ears. Until Rise’s hand landed and made contact with someone’s body, and it was not the annoying noble.
Rise’s hand slammed at Kamille’s abdomen. For some reason, he was now facing Kamille, the youth was not in front of him! The bastard switched their positions in the blink of an eye.
Kamille was also surprised, his eyes widening as he coughed blood, his body pummeled a few floors underground at the impact of the punch.
One thing he saw before he fell was Rise’s cloak disintegrating in the wind, his blood splattered around, and the huge slash on his chest so vividly.
He injured... Rise.
Kamille felt like his whole being was falling into the abyss instead.
A disaster they did not expect occurred.
