Chapter 193: Realization (2)

When he was young, Kamille had a hard time controlling his powers. Growing up, he trained himself to imprison whatever power he had. Although this also directly halved his capability and also himself.

Kamille hated to admit it, but the one he buried to the deepest part of him, afraid for it to surface, was indeed the real him. And yet, he had to keep him in check and never accepted it. Thus, the split personality disorder symptoms.

Throughout the years, nothing particularly noteworthy happened. His life remained like a cycle, but at least, he did not create another tragedy with his own hands.

Everything was going well... until it was not.

Kamille found it hard to stabilize himself after they returned from that mutated gate and everything restarted before he met Rise.

At first, he was still calm. He even thought a lot about the punishment he could playfully impose on Rise once they met again. And so he waited... but the person did not arrive.

Slowly, in the weeks that passed, Kamille began to become irritable. Calm as he was on the surface, the boiling uncertainty inside him continued to ferment until they broke.

Something was wrong with him, and Kamille was aware of it but had no way to stop it. There was madness beginning to awaken from the deepest of him; they were slowly tainting his rationality.

Rise...

Kamille murmured the name like a plea, as if he was woken up from a nightmare he could not remember.

There was one thing he knew: he needed Rise so bad. He wanted to succumb in his embrace and sleep for eternity if he could.

This was more than an obsession, it was something deeper... And Kamille felt like going insane as days passed, and not even Rise’s shadow appeared before him.

The power he imprisoned was surfacing more and more.

He hardly slept. His mind was too chaotic to even think of anything.

And so hallucinations seemed to appear. The world became... unfamiliar. As if... it was not real.

Through his eyes, he found himself connecting towards something... he could not figure out. Yet, somehow, his hands itched to reach out. To grab that string that entangles and connects himself to something or someone.

[You will fail]

Those words echoed inside him, distorted. They made his head ache, and the rationality within him thinned even further.

[You are powerless.]

The voices made his head hurt, his consciousness fading. The voices were loud yet not, far yet not. They were like a manifestation of something, someone.

[Stop resisting, my child.]

Kamille’s eyes shut firmly as he cupped his head and roared, and blood streamed down his cheeks. The wind grew wild, and the black fire appeared surrounding him.

They helped him resist the voices that wanted to control him. Kamille’s nails scratched the floor harshly, drawing blood. He continued to painfully roar, smashing his head towards the ground.

[Stop... Fail... Powerless...]

[Stubborn... Child...]

The voices became distorted even more until they became incomprehensible. If a devil could speak, surely this was their voice.

Eventually teh voices became weak, and then a loud snapping was heard, and a painful roar rang in KAmille’s ears. It was from his own mouth, but also the unknown voice.

[IMPOSSIBLE!]

The pain subsided, but Kamille’s consciousness was still weak. However, subsconsioulsy he smiled, finding the voice’s fury satisfying.

[NEVER. NEVER. NO. WAIT...]

[WAIT FOR HIM.]

[TO DESTROY YOU, CHILD]

[EVERYTHING YOU HAD.]

[GONE]

[TO STOP... MY PAIN]

[NEED... DESTROY]

[YOU]

The excruciating pain returned, and Kamille began to smash his whole body on the floor, blood and tears streaming down his cheek,s but he was laughing.

Like an insane maniac, Kamille was laughing as though his sanity had left him. And it was indeed so, Kamille’s consciousness faded by this time.

He was awake but not... Slowly, everything returned to normal.

And only Kamille, huddled on the floor, was left. Thatw as the beginning of him slowly caving in to the madness he carefully buried.

Kamille waited... and then he met Rise.

Rise, who acted like he did not know him.

"I waited for you to tell on your own." Kamille’s tone was terrifyingly calm in contrast to the madness his expression was showing. "I know you have your reasons."

Rise’s face filled with shock, he almost forgot that they were up in the clouds and hoping to change position.

"Kamille...?" It was a question, an incomplete one. Yet, this did not stop the listener from understanding it.

Kamille’s crimson eye gleamed, and the crimson veins expanded through his neck. His left eye was also beginning to have a crimson hue.

His lips curled into a smile, but they did not look like a smile at all. He did not answer.

Rise’s arms wrapped around him, tightened. Tears quickly moistened the corners of his eyes. The scenario he always overlooked, and did not want to imagine happening, was now playing out in front of him. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

A part of him wished for this to happen, but did not have a wishful thinking, as the probability of that happening was almost close to zero, or none at all.

He never suspected that Kamille also had the memories of the last time; it only dared to cross his mind as a hopeless wish.

"I’m sorry," Rise buried his head in Kamille’s back. "Forgive me... I..." He gulped, choking with his sobs.

And like an instinct, his guiding wavelength connected with Kamille. It was not aggressive like he always did, even appeared careful.

"I missed you..." In between sobs and guiding, Rise finally let out the feelings he had been suppressing since he met Kamille again. "I wanted to hug you, I longed for you... Kamille... I..." Before he could finish, their situation flipped.

Kamille skillfully changed his position until he was the one embracing Rise, who now had his face buried in his chest. The arms around Rise wrapped securely and tightly.

Rise looked up, and his tear-stained eyes met Kamille’s crimson ones. Taken aback, Rise’s hand reached out and touched Kamille’s cheeks.

"How... this..."

It was a sign of losing control.

Kamille did not explain, not bothering with his state. He leaned forward and looked at Rise’s eyes.

"You’ve got explaining to do..."

Rise nodded, fresh tears fell from his eyes, lips trembling toe ven say anything.

Kamille wiped his tears and gently cupped the side of Rise’s face with his hand. Their eyes stared at each other, bodies so close to each other.

"My Rise..." He whispered and leaned until their faces were so close, one leaned, and their lips would touch.

Rise nodded tearfully again. This was not so like him, but he was surprised, guilty, and also overwhelmed, so the only thing he could do was cry.

He did not know what happened, but he was glad. Kamille remembered him. Soon, Rise was incapable of thought anymore.

Their lips met, and Rise’s lips were devoured... Kamille made sure to express how he madly missed Rise this way, and Rise indulged him for as long as he’d like.
