In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]-Chapter 189: Madness
Rise was truly unaware that his acting was so effective that it completely fooled Kamille. The moment that he saw Rise, Kamille was ready to confront the other and ask what he did, but his heart only sank further watching the other seemed not to remember what happened between them.
He tested and observed, yet Kamille could not see any recognition in those eyes. Kamille’s mood dropped to a terrifying degree that he almost wanted to grab Rise right then and interrogate him somewhere.
All this time, he fought this urge to see Rise. Somehow, he expected that the other would not seek him out, especially as Rise did not participate in the raid.
Kamille discovered after sending men to the capital that Rise was staying in the main building of the Union. Last time, he already found out what Rise’s relationship with the Union General was and did not second-guess what he was doing there.
Unfortunately, unless Kamille made a fuss or had an important appointment, even as an S-rank Esper, he was not permitted inside. He could only unwillingly grit his teeth and wait.
Who would have thought... all that waiting still led to this. Kamille’s jaw ticked, gaze gleamed in a fierce light. If one looks closely, a crimson hue was beginning to color his pupils.
"Kamille," Thalia called behind him.
Kamille shut his eyes, calming himself. He could not rampage here. veins bulged in his neck and arms, holding all his emotions together.
"What happened, there?" Thalia’s voice sounded far away and also gentle, as though afraid of Kamille’s outburst. "Did... Rise made you mad that much?"
Kamille did not answer. As the elevator door opened, he immediately stepped out while Thalia still followed him, saying a lot of things about Rise.
And it pissed him off further. His temper flared and suppressed his desire to lash out at his irritation to Thalia. The other did not know where his anger was coming from.
"He’s just playful and..." Thalia still went on. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Finally, Kamille had had enough. "I know." He turned and looked at Thalia, who looked surprised.
"You know?"
Kamille nodded. His calm expression now returned, but the crease between the space of his brows remained tightly connected. He looked down at Thalia, who instinctively gulped.
Her heart also pounded, feeling intimidated. Alarm bells began to go off inside her head the moment their gaze met. Suddenly, she realized how serious Kamille was and that... Rise seemed to be in a lot of trouble now.
Thalia did not know how Rise managed to do it. Kamille was the calmest person he had ever met. Or it was accurate to say, the most indifferent one to provocation. And yet... just like that, Rise actually did it! She did not know whether to be happy that her idol truly deserves his title as the troublemaker or start praying for him now.
Their conversation stopped there with Kamille leaving after giving a nod, not a slight intention to linger. Thalia also decided not to follow, knowing the other’s mood; in reality, she was afraid to follow Kamille.
"I need to confirm," Kamille muttered under his breath.
Although Rise’s attitude earlier showed he did not know him. Kamille still wanted to be sure.
Rise was a good actor, and if he wanted, he could fool Kamille. And it had to be... an act.
Kamille sat in his bed, loosening his tie. The shadow behind him surged, and a figure emerged. It was Eubin who began reporting after he arrived.
He listened to the report silently.
"He arrived with the guys from Union?" Kamille’s eyes narrowed, unbuttoning his suit. He did not add after that, and Eubin did the same.
Kamille stood and took off his suit, leaving his upper body naked. His perfectly toned body, which would almost make others stare with desire upon seeing it, was now marred with fresh wounds.
Specifically, his chest, which had a terrifying scratch, was still bleeding around the edges. Eubin’s eyes even shook as he witnessed it; his lips trembled, and he bowed his head, not daring to look.
In fact, just remembering how their Guild Leader seemed to have gone mad going through over dozens of gates in the past week alone, as if venting, made him unable to think about anything.
And now, his wounds had not yet healed, but Kamille was already here in the capital. They were also worried as Kamille had not undergone guiding since. Everyone, even Hayes, was walking on eggshells around Kamille nowadays.
Now, the guild leader wanted him to look into Rise, a well-known esper of the Union. Eubin did not dare ask why.
After a while, Kamille took the piles of papers that Eubin gave and skimmed through them. The sound of papers being flipped was the only sound inside the room.
"This..." Kamille paused, and an interesting line caught his attention. "He arrived with a kid weeks ago."
Kamille looked at Eubin with a heavy gaze. "Why wasn’t this included in the last reports?"
Eubin immediately got goosebumps and bowed. "I apologized, Guild Leader. We only found out about it recently. This is also trivial information, and so our informants probably forgot to include it."
Why was Rise arriving with a kid prompt such a reaction from his Guild leader?
Come to think of it. The last time, their guild leader visited a B-rank gate as if looking for something, yet looked visibly disappointed afterward. Only later did they find out, he was looking for a kid. Until now, a team has still been tasked to find that kid there. To say the situation was odd was an understatement.
Kamille did not mind the rumors already spreading in the guild about his behavior over the past weeks.
"Could it be..." Kamille thought of Riri.
After the subjugation, he immediately came to find the little one, but he could not find the gate for some reason. Now... was it possible that he was already too late, as Rise already got Riri?
Kamille’s eyes flickered with light. His hand casually waved, dismissing Eubin. Soon, he was alone inside the room.
Silence pervades inside, and a dark atmosphere appears to spread throughout the whole room. One figure could be seen sitting at the foot of the bed, documents in hand, but he was only looking at that one line.
Kamille’s mind was chaotic, and it gave him a headache.
Why did Rise act like he did not know him? Why did Rise not seek him out? Why... there were so many questions, but it only led to one thing.
That bastard.
The one who claimed to be him, the other Kamille.
That time, Kamille was awake, but for some reason, he could not move or intervene for them. Their voices were also incomprehensible; he knew they were talking about something, but he could not understand.
The documents ripped, and soon it turned to ash as black fire appeared in Kamille’s hands, his right eye turned crimson, gleaming in the darkness.
