Chapter 175: Confusing Timeline (4)

For a moment, Rise stilled. He could only stare at that familiar yet unfamiliar face. The handsome face he adored. It did not change much, but incredibly different at the same time.

It was almost the same as in his memory of years later, but the cracks on his cheek through his neck were too visible, and Rise found it heartbreaking to look at.

In his vision, he had not felt anything more than confusion and did not have the time to scrutinize everything. And yet, Kamille appeared in front of him.

What should he feel right now? Rise thought... he would feel nothing seeing this Kamille. After all, this was not... his Kamille.

Then, why... why was his heart in pain right now?

Rise’s lips trembled as it parted. He almost wanted to say something, but he could not find his voice or think of anything to say.

"Don’t call him." A voice made Rise snap from these thoughts and quickly turned to his side.

His eyes widened seeing the darkness that surrounded Kamille, and his pupils were also beginning to have a crimson hue. His eyes stared sharply in front of them, where another Kamille Han stood.

Only then did Rise also notice how his Guild leader’s arm encircling him had tightened considerably, where he actually felt a bit of pain. It was as though Kamille was afraid that Rise would escape and run to another him.

Like cold water was poured on him, Rise’s face paled. His gaze lowered, and he closed his eyes firmly before taking a deep breath.

He knew he messed up. His emotions were clearly disturbed when another Kamille Han appeared, someone who also bore a resemblance to his beloved.

He thought his emotions would not be affected, but seeing Kamille in this appearance told otherwise. His heart was torn in shreds, and his reason was overshadowed by the heartbreak of seeing Kamille in this shattered appearance.

He was afraid. Rise... felt so conflicted.

What if... this was Kamille’s future?

Rise trembled slightly, his knees grew weak, and he could only lean to Kamille. His eyes opened by this time and held Kamille as tightly as he could.

"It’s fine," Rise whispered, his wavelength then travelled and connected to the other. It was more of an assurance than an instinctive guiding. Soon, the other’s gaze met his. The crimson hue in his pupils noticeably faded.

Rise patted him and let the guiding convey what he wanted to say. At this time, mere words would not cut it. That was how complicated their situation was.

When Kamille was about to say something, he was cut off by a voice similar to his own, but it did not come from his mouth.

"Weak." It was taunting yet devoid of any emotion.

Kamille’s brow immediately furrowed, and he quickly turned his head ahead of them. The same for Rise, who was now frowning. Though Kamille’s appearance distracted him, it was not much like earlier when his reason was blinded by deep concern and fear.

Before Kamille could respond to another him, though only considered to be and not yet proven. Rise’s mouth was faster for the reply.

"Who are you to say?" Rise asked, and he stared at the other, who also did the same.

Honestly, he still felt conflicted to give any attitude to this Kamille, but it pissed him off when someone called Kamille weak, even if it was technically himself.

The terrifying Kamille did not react immediately and instead stared at him. Though he did not have pupils to tell but Rise could sense his gaze on him.

Lingering and heated, even.

Somehow, he felt guilty about that. Ah, seriously, this was also driving him crazy.

Then, an arm enveloped him and made his gaze shift until his face was now facing Kamille’s broad chest. He looked up and locked eyes with Kamille’s.

"Don’t talk to him." He shook his head and pinched Rise’s waist. "I don’t like it." He was still frowning but somehow appeared pouting. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Oh, seriously. Now, he was jealous.

This situation was truly weird but not unwelcome.

Rise nodded, almost mechanically as not to show how pleased he was. If he smiled, then the situation would escalate further to a bizarre encounter.

"Okay," he voiced out. Though if the situation called for it, Rise would still talk.

And he knew it would be inevitable, and Kamille knew it too, so he was pissed. The other looked like him, and that made him all the more of a threat.

As if satisfied for now, Kamille nodded.

Soon, they returned to the matter at hand. And for some reason, the other Kamille did not disturb them and only watched.

The three fell into silence first, gauging each other.

Rise knew if a fight were to break out, they would lose. Kamille, at this time, was already powerful but would still have a long way to go before he truly achieved the power he had years later.

And someone in front of them, clearly already achieved that. Or, even further than that.

Rise knew that Kamille was aware of that, too. However, giving in was also an option they could afford to have.

"Who are you?" Kamille started the conversation this time. The two Kamilles, though the same in appearance but different intensity stared at each other.

Rise bit his lips and tried to calm himself as he watched everything unfold. His heart skipped a beat, too anxious.

The other Kamille’s lips hooked slightly, as though finding the question amusing.

With the behemoths around him it gave off an even sinister feeling.

"Who am I... you know it best," Kamille spoke, tone deliberate. Slowly, that small smirk faded soon after. "Or, not."

Rise frowned. Why this Kamille provoking Kamille too much? Did he hold a grudge or something? For what? They only appeared here and did not have interactions at all, right?

He held himself from butting in again, as he had already promised, unless necessary, he would not talk first.

"What do you mean?" Though asking, it lacks curiosity.

This seemed to amuse the other more. His eyes narrowed and moved forward a bit. Kamille and Rise quickly became on guard, but he soon stopped when he became a bit closer.

The wind surged around them. Kamille was already preparing to escape once the other Kamille showed any intention to attack.

The other Kamille did not answer, and his gaze turned to Rise, who was now in Kamille’s embrace. He stared and fell silent for a second before his hand reached out, as if wanting to go and touch Rise, but did not dare to.

"Rise..." The other Kamille’s voice trembled. "I knew... you’d come."
