Immortal God of War-Chapter 674 - 642: Benevolent Emperor_2
Qin Feiyang chuckled slyly.
"Come on, I’m your father. Do you think I don’t know what you’re like? Stop putting on airs in front of me."
The Emperor glanced at him and then at the dishes on the table, asking in surprise, "Did you make all of this?"
"Yes."
"Father Emperor, you should try it."
Like a child eager for recognition, Qin Feiyang quickly fetched a bowl and chopsticks and handed them to the Emperor.
The Emperor grinned. "Of course, I have to taste the food my precious son made. But on one condition: if it doesn’t taste good, I’ll have to punish you."
Qin Feiyang asked, "And if it’s delicious? Will I be rewarded then?"
The Emperor’s face twitched. He turned to the Empress and said, "See? Just when he was claiming to be mature, he starts trying to take advantage of his old man."
"Sigh... How did I end up with such an ungrateful son?"
The Emperor shook his head, a heartbroken expression on his face.
"White-Eyed Wolf!"
Qin Feiyang shivered.
The Emperor’s casual comment had stirred his memories.
Wolf King!
He had fought and survived alongside the White-Eyed Wolf for over a decade. They had become as close as family, yet it had all turned out to be just a dream.
Seeing his reaction, the Emperor misinterpreted it as anger and quickly said with a placating smile, "Tian Er, Father was just joking. Don’t be angry. Father apologizes, alright?"
For the ruler of an empire to lower himself and apologize to his own child showed just how much the Emperor doted on Qin Feiyang.
Qin Feiyang said, feeling a bit exasperated, "Am I that petty? I was just thinking about a wolf from my dream."
"A dream?" the Emperor asked, surprised.
The Empress chuckled. "For the past three days, Tian Er has been having a very long dream. He even said he broke through to the War Ancestor realm in it."
"Huh!" The Emperor was astonished, then shook his head and said, "What a silly boy! But with your talent, let alone becoming a War Ancestor, it’s not impossible for you to even surpass your father, as long as you’re willing to work hard."
"I will work hard," Qin Feiyang nodded solemnly.
Before, he wouldn’t have thought so much about these things. But now, it was different. No matter your status or background, without strength, everything is meaningless.
The Emperor observed Qin Feiyang intently and nodded. "Yes, you’ve indeed matured quite a bit. Alright, let’s not talk anymore. Let’s, as a family, enjoy this meal." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The family of three sat around the dining table, talking and laughing, their joy palpable.
Qin Feiyang looked at his mother, then at his father, a happy smile spreading across his face.
This was the life he desired.
Happy times always flew by. Once the meal ended, the Emperor returned to his duties.
The Empress accompanied Qin Feiyang back to his sleeping chambers, offered a few words of advice, and then turned to leave.
Qin Feiyang seemed to suddenly make a decision and called out, "Mother, wait."
The Empress stopped, turned, and asked with a smile, "What is it?"
Qin Feiyang said, "Mother, I want to go see Spirit State."
"Spirit State?" The Empress’s elegant brows furrowed slightly.
Qin Feiyang said wistfully, "Even though it was just a dream, I still want to go take a look. Because in that dream, there are too many people I care about."
The Empress pondered for a moment, then nodded with a smile. "Alright. However, your two uncles must accompany you. Only then can I be at ease."
"Okay," Qin Feiyang nodded.
The Empress called out, "Qin Zhong, Qin Yi, come in."
The two imposing men in purple-gold battle armor immediately walked into the main hall.
The Empress instructed, "You two will accompany Tian Er to Spirit State. Remember, you must protect him well. If anything happens to him, you know the consequences."
"Yes!"
"Your subordinates swear to protect His Highness the Prince with our lives!"
The two knelt on one knee, speaking respectfully.
The Empress nodded, then looked at Qin Feiyang and smiled. "You can decide when to leave. Mother has some matters to attend to, so I’ll be going now."
Qin Feiyang bowed. "Safe travels, Mother."
"We respectfully see off Her Majesty the Empress."
Qin Zhong and Qin Yi respectfully saw the Empress off. Once she had left, they stood up and looked at Qin Feiyang, identical sly grins spreading across their faces.
Qin Yi sidled up to Qin Feiyang and whispered with a sly chuckle, "Your Highness, what’s so fun about a place like Spirit State? Your uncle here can take you somewhere much more entertaining."
"What place?" Qin Feiyang asked, suspicious.
Qin Yi glanced towards the main entrance, ensuring no one was around, then whispered, "Fragrant Moon Tower."
"Huh!" Qin Feiyang was taken aback, a wry smile appearing on his face. "Uncle Qin Yi, I’m still a child!"
The Fragrant Moon Tower was the most famous tavern in the Imperial Capital. More importantly, it was also a house of pleasure.
"You’re already ten years old, and you still consider yourself a child?"
"Look at those sons of dukes and marquises; they’re fooling around there every day."
"Even your brothers, including the Eldest Prince, sneak off there for fun every now and then."
"Your Highness, it’s not that your uncles are nagging you, but you spend all day either cultivating or reading. It’s too dull!"
"Life is meant to be lived to the fullest! You should learn to enjoy it!"
The two men coaxed.
Qin Feiyang said with an amused laugh, "It sounds like both my uncles are regular patrons there!"
Qin Zhong’s expression changed, and he hastily said, "Your Highness, you can’t say such things carelessly! If your mother finds out, we’ll both be done for!"
Qin Feiyang chuckled. "Alright, I won’t tell Mother. Let’s go to Spirit State first. As for Fragrant Moon Tower, we can talk about it when we get back."
"Now that’s more like it!" Qin Yi said. "Come on, I’ll take you to the Spirit Pagoda."
"Spirit Pagoda?" Qin Feiyang frowned. He had never heard of this place.
Qin Yi explained, "Inside the Spirit Pagoda, there are teleportation altars leading to the Nine Major States. However, apart from the Emperor, the Empress, and us escorts, almost no one knows about this."
Qin Zhong added, "Especially you princes. If you knew about it, you’d definitely be running all over the place."
Qin Feiyang had a sudden realization.
In the dream, he had been unconscious when he was expelled from the Imperial Capital.
By the time he woke up, he was already in Spirit State.
He himself hadn’t known how he had gotten to Spirit State at the time.
However, he had always suspected that Uncle Yuan must have been the one who took him there.
WHOOSH!
Qin Zhong waved his hand, sweeping Qin Feiyang up, and they darted out of the main hall. They quickly left the vast complex of halls behind, entering a range of deep mountains.
"Where are we now?" Qin Feiyang asked, puzzled as he surveyed his surroundings.
Here, mountains rose and fell, ancient trees towered into the sky, and powerful, fierce birds soared on outstretched wings between heaven and earth. Within the jungles, various ferocious beasts also lurked, their auras terrifyingly potent.
"The Back Mountain," Qin Yi said.
"What?" Qin Feiyang exclaimed, startled.
To speak of the Back Mountain, one first had to consider the Imperial Palace itself. The Imperial Palace covered an immense area. It was no exaggeration to say that even a War Ancestor would need to fly for several days just to cross it from south to north.
There were many places within the palace Qin Feiyang had never visited. The Back Mountain was one such place.
Of course, it wasn’t that he didn’t want to come; he simply couldn’t. In the Imperial Palace, the Back Mountain was considered a forbidden zone. Without the Emperor’s and Empress’s permission, no one was allowed to set foot there, not even the princes.
So, all this while, this place had been a mystery to Qin Feiyang.
Qin Yi and Qin Zhong didn’t offer much explanation, landing with Qin Feiyang atop a mountain peak.
