Chapter 490: 490. Departure

Uncle Matthias nodded at these two people.

"You two should be careful. If you really can’t do this mission, we’ll request support from other places."

Dylan nodded and smiled at Uncle Matthias’s words. "Thank you, Uncle Matthias. I’ll do my best and see how it is."

"Meow!" Don’t worry, I’ll protect these two.

Kitty raised his front paw and waved it towards Uncle Matthias and Second Uncle Kenan as if he was saying that he would protect Dylan and Anna.

Though, these two definitely didn’t need the protection from a cat.

"Be careful." Second Uncle Kenan only nodded to these two people. He had heard about them, but he was not close to either of these two and had no plan to forcefully got close either.

It would be too obvious and not very good for him.

In any case, Second Uncle Kenan knew that his nephew and niece had good relationship with these two. They were also of similar age, so it was suitable for them to interact with each other.

"Also, I prepared something for you." Uncle Matthias is Mark’s father. He had interacted with these two more even before the apocalypse because they played in his son’s house a few times.

Even if it was not too familiar, but it was still closer.

Uncle Matthias handed over a small bag and Dylan took it. He didn’t know what it was, but looking at the small bag that looked more like a pouch and the shape as the pouch moved, Dylan could guess what it was.

"Thank you, Uncle Matthias," Dylan said solemnly.

Anna also thanked Uncle Matthias.

They talked a few more words before Dylan and Anna left. The two leaders also didn’t stay there any longer and returned to the military base in City A Base.

"You’re giving those to them?" Second Uncle Kenan asked.

Uncle Matthias nodded. "It can add more protection for them in case they can’t deal with it."

Neither Uncle Matthias nor Second Uncle Kenan had seen Dylan and Anna made a move on their own, but they knew that these two were powerful awakened, even more than them.

It would be a pity if these two were to die so early because of the mission they gave.

Not to mention the relationship between these two and his son, Uncle Matthias will definitely want to give them more good things that could ensure their safety.

Uncle Darien and Old Master Daniels would also want to do the same if they could. Unfortunately, their connection and channels were not in this direction and they couldn’t help much to Dylan and Anna.

But Uncle Matthias was in military.

He had access to some things that most people would not be able to access.

"You’re investing too much on them." Second Uncle Kenan shook his head. "It’ll be a waste if they couldn’t survive and return."

"Don’t speak as if they’ll definitely not end well." Uncle Matthias rolled his eyes. He felt that Second Uncle Kenan was too cautious and was not too willing to take the risk. But if they didn’t take any risk at all, then they would never be able to advance.

"I’m just saying." Second Uncle Kenan shook his head.

Uncle Matthias sighed and didn’t say anything more.

He knew that Second Uncle Kenan was not the person who would do things that he was not sure of. The only time he did it was when he took the liquid from the research institute for him to become an awakened.

Thankfully, the bet paid off and Second Uncle Kenan become an awakened.

But they were still very cautious and didn’t seem to be willing to make any big movement that had big risk.

In Second Uncle Kenan’s eyes, investing in these two people bore more risks and he was not willing to make that bet. The resources in their family and in the base was very scarce. It would be painful for him to take out things that could ensure their family’s survival.

"Don’t worry, I didn’t take the base’s resources," Uncle Matthias said. "It’s my family’s private items."

Uncle Matthias believed in these two youngsters. He was more willing to take risk and accept whether he was losing or winning. In any case, it would enhance his experience.

Naturally, he would also not take any unnecessary risk.

But investment like this could still be done.

He believed that the two youngsters had the potential and would be able to become big in the future. At that time, he would be able to rise up in accordance. Besides, he really didn’t want them to die so quickly.

Second Uncle Kenan heard these words and nodded. "I’m going back."

Uncle Matthias shook his head and went back to his own office. There were still many things for him to do too.

He prayed for the two youngsters’ safety.

...

Dylan and Anna’s side.

The two of them walked down the street until a certain distance away where they couldn’t see the base again before Dylan opened the bag and looked at the content inside.

"What is it?" Anna asked curiously.

She guessed that it should be precious because Uncle Matthias was using a black pouch bag that would not allow them to see the content. And coming from Uncle Matthias, there was no way he would give them something ordinary.

"Something precious." Dylan took out one of them, "Military grenade."

Grenade.

Anna’s eyes widened as she looked at the grenade in Dylan’s hands. These grenades could only be produced in the military and their distribution was also limited. It could cause a lot of damages when the pin was pulled and then thrown to the enemies.

Looking at the size and the bag, Anna guessed that Uncle Matthias should have given them several grenades.

"Uncle Matthias is really kind," Anna muttered.

Even if they were in the military, there was no way Uncle Matthias can take out these things so easily.

"Kind?" Dylan arched his eyebrows. "You can say that it’s partially kind and partially investment on us."
